The "Eres Tu" part always gets me for some reason. I love that they are both so into singing along and that smile David gave Chris towards the end was priceless
These were the songs both Tommy and Richard sang: Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come on, Eileen (1983) R.E.M. - It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine) (1987) Mocedades - Eres Tú (1973)
The eres tu scene made me so sad. It's such a beautiful little moment in film, where they sing this gorgeous song then ride into the sunset. It's so touching now that Farley is gone. And that look Spade gives Farley at 1:04 , just wow. Rest in peace Chris Farley, the comedy legend will never be forgotten.
@@thetruth72667 I feel the same way too. My dad just passed away this year at 71 from cancer. This was one of the movies we watched together countless times. Love this scene
There are very few activities that forge a male bond stronger than jamming out to tunes in the car on a road trip. My buddy and I made the trip from Dayton to Chicago back from college and nothing but bare road I-65 and honestly those rides signing our lungs out to the classics the radio chose for us were some of the best moments of my life. This movie is the rocky of the 90’s
@@stellarcubicbeam7760 Not only the fact that you cannot spell, but you are missing the point of what Greg means. It is symbolic NOW, because Chris Farley is gone NOW. You are not very bright at all.
Because it was just the epitome of them being young and having fun making a movie together. The gag is supposed to be that it's men singing an emotional love song, but Farley and Spade honestly loved each other so much that you could see it shine through.
0:46 ERES TÚ- MOCEDADES “Como una promesa, eres tú, eres tú Como una mañana de verano Como una sonrisa, eres tú, eres tú Así, así, eres tú, eres tú como el agua de mi fuente”
@@DrummerBoi181 ROUGHLY: You are like a promise Like a summer morning You are like a smile You are like that, like that You are like the water in my fountain
Idk how this great song ended up being part of this movie soundtrack, let alone fitting so well into the story with them driving into the sunset... It's very meaningful. They both seemed to be in the moment when singing along to this beautiful song, and the lyrics encapsulating and hightlighting the importance of the main character played by Chris Farley (Eres tu) It's you* -Almost playing like a farewell song to Chris' sad and untimely passing. Thanks for the laughs -R.I.P.
@@creisymadafaka2127 I remember when this was on the radio in Toronto back then. Very unusual to have a non-english song on the AM charts at that time. Touching, bittersweet scene in this classic comedy.
I been looking for this song for YEARS!!!!!! Pops stumbled upon it on some channel, and I liked it. Fast forward to now, thanks to Tommy Boy, IT HELPED ME FIND IT!!
This makes me feel and do so many things. It makes me laugh, smile, swoon a little bit, cry, and sing along too. I adore this movie and these two gentlemen. Rest in peace, Chris Farley.
Over 25 years since Chris left us. This might be one of my favorite moments of his. Gone way, way too soon. As I get older for some reason I feel his passing more and more. Maybe because that time in the mid 90s was so special or it's just nostalgia. Either way this 80 seconds of Spade and Farley is priceless and it has nothing to do with Fatty falls downs. RIP Chris
This scene should have been the ending. The smile they give one another at the end is quick, but means a great deal when you think of their friendship and Chris's demise. Beautiful.
Growing up Mexican this was always my favorite scene haha ERES TUUUUUUUUUU. Who else had their parents tell them to wake the fuck up and help them clean this song?
My best friend, and I saw this movie in the theater when it came out in 1992. We saw all of Chris Farley's movies in the theater! I am so glad I was there to see Chris, David Spade, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, and the other successful SNL cast members, when they were first starting out. In my opinion, the cast that had Chris Farley, David Spade, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, and Tim Meadows was the best, and funniest cast.
Michael Stipe doesn't even know all the words to "It's The End of The World As We Know It". In High School we used to have to sing "Eres Tu" in Spanish class, and I laughed at it. Today I heard it, and tears welled up in my eyes. "You said that Irony is the shackles of youth" Stipe sings in another REM song. How true.
0:42 Mocedades, Eres Tú Como una promesa eres tú, eres tú, como una mañana de verano, como una sonrisa eres tú, eres tú, así, así eres tú. Eres tú como el agua de mi fuente...
+Larukuislove I see it's been a year since you wrote your post, but maybe you'll read this. I have liked that song since I first heard it as a kid in the early 70's. I never knew what the words meant, except the title words. But, yes it's famous in the U.S.
+Bruce Like a promise, that is you, that is you You're like a summer morning Like a smile, that is you, that is you Like this, like this, you are like this All my hope, that is you, that is you Like fresh rain in my hands Like a stong breeze, that is you, that is you Like this, like this, you are like this You are like the water of my fountain You are the fire in my heart You are like this You are like the fire of my bonfire You are like this The wheat of my bread Like a poem that is you, that is you Like a guitar in the night All my horizon (or future) that is you, that is you Like this, like this, you are like this You are like the water of my fountain You are the fire in my heart You are like this You are like the fire of my bonfire You are like this The wheat of my bread
If that is how well it translates, why did they get Mike Hawker to write what are, in my opinion, clumsy lyrics for the English "Touch The Wind" version. The direct translation is still very poetic and deeper than lines like "I put a promise in the wind, on the air, to fly away, you are there". Yes I would say maybe "like this, like this, you are this" could use some minor tweaks, but still they don't sound like someone hammered them out in less than the running time of the actual song.
The ending part where the drive off into the sunset, I wanna do that when I get my license and play nice music, like "Life is a Highway" from Car's 1, or "Time, Love, and Tenderness" or "Sun Flower" from Spiderman into the spider verse, or "I can't drive 55" from Bumblebee or good music from Marvel movies.
No Fuckin Way when i went Throught this movie as a kid i would sing this song and not stop singing till it ends all of my Family and my Friends are Laughing about it
Eres Tu was Top ten in America when I was a kid. I laughed at it 'cause I said that's a bunch of gibberish. Later of course I realized it was a different language. Now in my 60s I love this song and the band Mocedades, Amaya Uganda is one of the best female singers ever in my book. I went and bought about ten of their albums on vinyl last couple of years. The best singers and harmonies I've ever heard. It doesn't even matter that I don't know how to speak Spanish. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wEb_Yo0hHm8.html
