I was excited to see your video, drawing with watersoluble graphite is one of my favorite ways to sketch. One way I like to use the pencils is by brushing a waterbrush on the pencil tip and applying the graphite with the brush which helps me to add more shading, too. I've ordered the Graphitone pencils after watching you dissolving it onto a palette, something I haven't tried yet.
Hi Teoh, You have very good contents in your channel. From drawing tips to material reviews... Little did I know you are the author of the awesome Parka Blogs as well! Most of my reference for art book purchasing decisions is from your blog. Do keep up the awesome work, sir!
thank you for the amazing videos, Teoh! I am an instant fan when i watched one of your videos and i got hooked. I am a film storyboarder in Kuala Lumpur.... keep up these good works! Subscribed!
I have used water soluble graphite pencil lots of time, I happy to see that this is the same technique I use it...but I like it more of I first shade and then apply water over it, it gives more sketchy feeling + sometimes it's good to keep few area only rendered and few glazed! Great video! :)
I find some water soluble graphite a bit difficult to dissolve when applied on paper then wet. There are some that doesn't look nice when wet and applied. Really depends on the look you're after
I still have yet to check out this product, as I don't know if I'd use it often enough. But boy, do you make me want to check them out anyway! Great stuff, Teoh, as always! Cheers! :)
It's not an expensive product so even if you don't use it, it's not too bad. But if you make a series of sketches with it, those sketches are going to look quite great.
Love your videos and tutorials! Thank you for sharing your knowledge (every time I want a content-related opinion on an art supply, I'm looking for your review; I blame you for spending a small fortune on Daniel Smith watercolors ;)). Anyway, I have a question - do you think the Graphitone could be used as an underpainting for watercolor? I love to mix a lot of different mediums and been wondering if this could work.
You can use graphite as underpainting. Personally I find that it dulls the watercolour but some artists do use gray underpainting. Depends on whether you like the look or not.
Dear Teoh, I love your video's but I have a question nothing to do with the subject here... Have you heared about a notetaking book named "Elfinbook"? I think it's something that you could consider making a review on it from your point of vue as an artist! Best friendly regards!
