This shows great coaching skills by Jackson. He feeds the ball to the man on fire which was Kukoc at the end there. One of my favorite players of all time is Tony Kukoc what a legend!!
I watched the 80's Lakers, the 80's Celtics, the 00's Lakers, and the 10's Warriors...all great teams, but I've personally never seen anything like the 90's Bulls.
love that Kukoc fought tooth and nail with Pippen and Jordan in the olympics and instead of being discouraged he stepped into the NBA and made a mark with those guys.
Kucoc was an unsung hero in that bulls dynasty but he was a brilliant player playing alongside some superstars. Any other franchise he played for at that time at his peak he would have been God Worshipped.
I think you are way off on this take. Kukoc was a great fit on that Bulls team, and complimented MJ and Pipp in a great way, but saying he would have been worshipped as God mode on any other franchise is a horrible take. What did he do after his bulls career? Not much. He was a nice player for the Bucks, but nothing great. Tony was a great scorer, and a great 6th man, but that was it. He was basically a spot shooter. He was a poor defender and rebounder, and didn't have the offensive moves to lead a team on a late playoff run or anything. God worshipped? Calm down my man. You are showing that you don't know bball very well
@@PhoenixAscending Hmmmm.... Not sure about who don't know bball here my friend. If you knew who Kukoc was and what he did from age 17 to NBA, I'm sure you would change your mind. I'm not sure you are aware how tough was Euroleague back then. Specially Jugoslav League. They didn't play for money because there was no money but they dominated the continent for decades. To beat teams like Cibona with Dražen Petrović, Maccabi, Barcelona, Aris of N.Galis, Partizan,Scavolini..and to dominate, you had to be bad ass mf. And Toni did it until he was 21. With a team of great players but no budget vs sky is the limit, no salary cup budgets. Guys like that are just made different. They adapt and dedicate themselves to only one goal. To win. And guys like him always find a way to win. I could go on and on Toni Kukoc but I think you got the point. If he played for any theam other then Jordans Bulls, he would worshipped. But he wanted to win more then anything and chose correctly.
Now that is real basketball kids. Not the crap you see nowadays. Any fan pre 2000 can appreciate this hard fought comeback win. Nowadays the teams give up by halftime and send in their second unit.
See that? 3 point shots on the fast break. Small ball 6'7 Rodman at center and 7 foot Toni at power forward. Everyone 6'6 and taller but quick and agile enough to be able to switch defensively. That's 2022 Basketball in the late 90's.
wow was completely forgot about this game. good to having back those memories. Van Exel was beast on this game. so And Randy was a decisive too. kukoc is my man.
I remember this game very very well. I used to play basketball then and these two were my favorite teams. Bulls was done and dusted but there was an amazing turnaround in the 4th. Kukoc was simply amazing but the key was to identify who can hit the 3 pointers on that day at that moment, which was the brilliance of Jordan and Phil. Kukoc is a tall player and 3 pointers is generally not the forte of taller players, but he was different
I’m a Portland trail blazer fan / Kukoc would have fit in perfectly with Clyde Drexler and terry porter back in the 90s. Wish we would have brought him over from Europe before the bulls.
Kinidios Odlosios petro never jelled with that blazer coach back then. They didn’t get along. For some strange reason he didn’t fit into the rotation very well - and he was the best player in Europe. Go figure.
@@kinidiosodlosios6892 On a team that has A Jordan-like (score first) player like Clyde. An all around player like Kukoc who can deliver passes or score will be a better fit than another score-first player like Petro.
@@jpogigtxcr1778Dražen Petrović was killer and he knew to pass like playmaker and was the best from 3points. Simply Portland did not use the best from Europe ever.
@@JD37 well, yes actually, it is better- sorry! The late great Johnny Red Kerr (former NBA center and one of the original iron men, first coach of the Chicago Bulls; also his grandson was my roommate in college at IU and I've been to his house many times before he passed, but not before he got Lifetime Achievement Award from the Basketball HOF) was the color commentator of this game, and he absolutely EXPLODED when Toni hit that huge 3 over Shaq in OT. Amazing moment, and only a hometown commentating team can embellish this game with the excitement it deserves
3:45 Little did eddie jones know, mj, who was trailing him, had already taken flight and was awaiting that cheese. When the big three plus kukoc were on, unstoppable.
As a Bulls fan I remember watching this game at my friend's house. He was already on the Lakers bandwagon knowing Shaq n Kobe were the next big thing. Awesome comeback for the old guard.
Great video. I wish someone would make a video showing just how great the Bulls pressure defense was. From this game. To 91 vs Magic, 98 vs Stockton, 96 vs Penny. To name a few.
There's another game where kukoc carried them until mj picked up his game. It was against indiana and they were down by 24 and kukoc carried them til end of the 3rd and closed the gap down to 4. By 4th quarter, mj finished the game for the win.
Ppl always mention harden for OKC when realistically he only had one good season with them fr , first 2 he went 12/3/2 and 9/3/2 , I’m not saying he wouldn’t have been a factor but he wasn’t the threat he was today yet
@@JD37 That’s a common occurrence between a franchise player against a bench warmer so…meh… But a short bench player slaughtering a tall quality player is priceless.
@@jpogigtxcr1778 Yeah and when they put Pippen on Van Exel, he hit the go ahead bucket with seconds to play. When Pippen was asked after the game who he and Jordan fear most on the Lakers squad, he said “Van Exel. Hands down.” Sounds like a hall of famer is quicker to give praise when it’s due before you. But, you know, keep up the put downs. You’re obviously more a Bulls fanatic than a true basketball historian.
@@JD37 Im not a historian or a fanatic. I’m just some dude who was in awe with that Randy Brown dunk. You’re the one involving other players that I did not even mention. Jordan, Pippen or Nick may have played well that night, but that’s about it. They do those kind of things in any given day.
@@JD37 You can can even see my other post on which you replied, that I said that Lakers team is a hard match up against the Bulls. But you can’t deny that Randy Brown in yo face.
Why does he gota call Rodman stupid?..lmao What you afraid hes guna antaganize one of your players to do something stupid and get themselve ejected huh?..lol
If MJ doesn't retire after the 98' season and the Bulls roster remains in tact, that Laker 3peat never happens! The Spurs don't win their 99' title either! What was krause & riensdorf thinking???
@@sandworld1432 4th Title? Bulls won their 4th title during the '95 - ''96 season & were 72 - 10 reg season / 15 - 4 playoffs and didn't play indiana in playoffs! They beat Miami 4 -1, NY 4 - 1, Swept Orlando, Seattle 4 - 2 in Finals! Bulls beat Indiana 4 - 3 during the '97 - '98 season ECF's. Tough series, "almost lost" is irrelevant , they did win & would've continued winning had the front office kept the team together until someone beat them!
If they moved Scottie for someone like tmac maybe. Scottie was done. I mean done being elite. The two years against the three peating lakers he was getting cooked and not being clutch for the blazers. With an older jordan? Not happening. But everyone would be happy with no what ifs
@@louroc425 Scottie went to Portland and had the Lakers beat in the playoffs, he just wasn't the closer that MJ was! Bulls had handled Shaq & Kobe in 98' & deserved the chance to defend their Championship until someone beat them in the Finals!
@@goodfella2400 They got swept…. In the conference finals. Not the first round. They’re an all time classic team. They just ran into a team they didn’t match up well against. And anybody who knows basketball could tell you that they matched up better with the Bulls. Just watch the games. It’s not hard to see.
