Tonsil stone removal with a cotton swab, learn what tonsil stones are, symptoms of tonsil stones, and more.
Tonsil stones are compacted masses made up of calcified food, debris, and bacteria. They form in the small crypts and crevices of the tonsils.
They are very common, and in fact, you may have them and not even realize it. They are also generally harmless, but can become impacted or lead to an infection.
Tonsil stones can be removed by your doctor, but some people may attempt to remove smaller ones at home. If you do attempt this, be sure to wash your hands, gargle with an antiseptic mouthwash, and use a clean cotton swab or water flosser. When you are done, be sure to gargle once more to reduce any germs and to prevent infection.

I was set up to have my tonsils removed then my doctor talked me out of it saying it would be less of an issue once I’m over 30. Now I’m over 30 and it’s still an issue. I wish I removed them when I had a job with sick leave.

Thankyou from my heart for this video❤ I’ve only gotten tonsil stones over the last 3years when I was 30 AFTER I started drinking coffee for the first time in my entire life with milk (dairy), I’ve used a manual water pick to cleanse my tonsil crypts out and that’s helped but it’s always puzzled me as why I got them and even asking my doctor I got more useful information from you than anywhere over this past 3years. Also Thankyou for spreading the word that they are more common than people think and they’re not ALWAYS caused by bad oral hygiene ❤

I brush my teeth after every meal and floss. I'm always drinking water and don't drink alcohol but had a huge one that gave me an ear infection and had to be put on amoxicillin. It wasn't until after I went off the Rx I saw that I was still feeling like I had something stuck in my throat. Doctor never checked my throat when I complained of the ear infection. I checked and found it. Still have a bit of irritation from where it was.

I've heard that these are made from food and such, but are they not from your glands collecting and ejecting white blood cells that have died while fighting infection? Isn't that what your tonsils do?

I had this problem b4. Here's what I did. Buy a (Water Flosser) pressure machine with a build in liquid container. In the liquid container, pour a little peroxide, mouthwash, and fill the rest with water. Get a portable mirror so that way you can see where those tonsils are in ur mouth than pressure wash them out carefully. It may sting, and a little blood may come out when it's removed. Repeat the process over until it's gone. It took me almost 3 months because sometimes it comes back. I never had those things again!

Last year I spent a whole month that I could barely eat because it was too painful to swallow and felt like a lump on the side of my throat. I didn’t know what it was but this was probably it. I thought it was never gonna go away and right when I was making plans on seeing a doctor it finally went away.

This is all good to kmow my daughter suffers with this after having tonsillitis for so many times in her childhood ,but its not nice for her to deal with. Wont do surgery for her so we have to figure it out how to help and prevent them getting too bad dnd frequent

Every morning this comes out when I spit. I swallowed one on accident and thought it was something that I ate that was stuck in my throat. I kept going to the doctors for 2+ years and telling them that I had something stuck in my throat. After multiple X-rays they couldn’t find anything. I was laying down getting ready for bed and out of nowhere I felt something crawling up my throat. I ran to the sink and started spitting and saw the stone come out. Except it wasn’t a large one it was only a small one.

These happen often, and tbh it's just normal. Its kinda fun just pressing on your tonsil and seeing a small little booger thing pop out. Also, omg you didn't mention how BAD these things smell. Its AWFUL, and is why i just check my tonsils regularly for them.
