Season 2, Episode 1 vid here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ln1Chr7h4R0.html It'll probably take me a while to get through all the episodes, but I will do them all in time :)
Man, no wonder Crowley uses sunglasses as an emotional shield: He has NO POKERFACE! Once you can actually see his eyes, it completely changes his ENTIRE DEMEANOR! The poor baby!
In the scene where he asks for holy water, I didn’t notice how many times Crowley looked over at Aziraphale as if he’s nervous and trying to gauge his reaction :(
Just full blown glare, no blinking. Oooof. Probably good that he was wearing sunglasses right then or he'd have burned a hole in Aziraphale's forehead.
Wow his expression really does read so differently when you can see his eyes. Wearing sunglasses as an actor must be like doing everything with one hand tied behind your back, kudos for David Tennant!
According to the creators the width ofCrowley’s eyes indicate his stress level. You can tell in these scenes. Like the scene when he asks for the holy water his eyes are bigger than the previous scene. And when the bookshop burned they are pure yellow. They really paid massive attention to detail. Love it.
According to Neil, it also depends on how human he tries to look. In the garden, he had no reason to do that so his eyes are fully golden, unlike when he's around other humans where you can see the white in his eyes much more clearly.
i feel like this has to be to do with how well he can control how snakey they look, because if he's stressed, he's thinking less about making his eyes look as normal as he possibly can. plus, when Aziraphale is wearing Crowley's body at the end to trick Hell, his eyes are full snake mode, probably because Aziraphale hasn't learned to control them but Crowley has had thousands of years of practice
I really wish the show had made it clearer how often Crowley was nervously glancing at Aziraphale during the holy water request scene. I knew he was nervous, but actually seeing his eyes makes a HUGE difference. Thank you for this!! It makes the scene even MORE heart breaking and I love/hate it
Frankly I love the fact that he had the eyes at all under the dark glasses. Most other shows, they would be an excuse to go without contacts/CGI, and save some budget/time, but not Good Omens.
Oh my god this is amazing. Was he already looking at Aziraphale at the 'it'd take a miracle to get anyone to come and see Hamlet'? Like he was just waiting for the puppy eyes to come out? Haa he shot Zira such a fond look after the 'shaat up'
This is such a surprise; I've heard full eye contacts like these in movies can be difficult to wear and have to have supervision to be put in unlike normal contacts (though maybe new ones are better) and I thought maybe he only wore them when we definitely saw Crowley's eyes. But this shows they're always Crowley's eyes, that's a fantastic detail, thanks for showing this!
I always thought it was special effects of some sort, since with some of the behind the scenes with David, his eyes are normal. And also during the scene in medieval times, there was some weird lighting that made it sort of look like his eyes were glowing.
Off the top of my head, its in the book shop when it's on fire (walking out of it, specifically) and while he's driving the Bentley through fire... I need to do a rewatch haha
yes! neil mentioned that they changed out contacts for david based on certain scenes. take the flaming bookshop scene or the part where he’s keeping the bentley together. i’m not sure if the pupil bit is correct, but i know the yellows of the eyes part is. :)
I think the best scene was the holy water one, never really noticed how much his eyes darted to the side, also love how you can see the scenes they didnt edit his contacts when they swiveled a bit lol
OK BUT IN THE 60S SCENE CROWLEY'S CAR WAS ALREADY PARKED AT THE BOOKSHOP!!! "I'll give you a lift, anywhere you wanna go" WAS NOT CROWLEY ASKING TO DRIVE HIM HOME, IT WAS AN INVITATION!!!!!!
I watched this video in my cellphone with max brightness to help, and it breaks my heart to see the slightest of his sight during the 1967 scene... When he says "I'll give you a lift, anywhere you want to go", the anguished look of someone who wants desperately to rebuild the bridges between them and is afraid to have lost the timing...
3:03 I still feel really stupid for this one, First time I saw him doing that I thought he was dancing, then I slowly realized he was in a church and he’s a demon. 😭😂
HELLO, YES, ALL OF THIS IS GOLDEN AND I LOVE IT! ...but I'll never get over that cheeky smile he makes, whenever Aziraphale denies being friends during Hamlet... 🤣
I love this video soo much. All this feelings in his eyes.. I'm dying. Good Omens give me a lot and I'm so thankful that videos like this exist and I'm not alone with my feelings.
Currently planning to start on Season 2 later this week, it will probably take me a while to get through all the eps but am thinking it'll probably be an episode at a time and weekly-ish! (hi this is me from 3 months later, it is definitely not gonna be weeklyish, life stuff, but I will finish these eventually and uhhh before s3)
@@largemammals I'm going to do them in order just because part of this will mean like, getting back into the swing of things with re-familiarizing myself with how I edit these and 2x06 is the one I want to make sure I do a good job with the most and it just fits into my preferences as far as process (since a big reason why I do these is the character insight it gives me), but hopefully it'll be fulfilling once I get there!
THANK GOD I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS- I KEEP TRYING TO UP THE BRIGHTNESS ON MY PHONE BUT DAMN THIS WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN ANYTHING I'VE ACCOMPLISHED. ALSO I LOVE /DYING/
I shall! Fwiw, he is so backlit during that scene (same with wall slam) that you really can't see much, but I should be able to put something up in the next week or so.
Crowley says "I need a favor" in the same rythm Washington does in One last time so I just paused it to say "whatever you say sir, Jefferson qill pay for his behavior" I need to stop
Holy cow if it gets any brighter im gonna go blind from Aziraphales outfit! Such bright colours! Edit : Im not hating or anything like that but its just really bright.
u can see one of the lenses being a bit askew at one point during the globe theatre scene, they usually fix that in post production but with the shades on I'm guessing thy didn't find it necessary
