Tool - Descending (Live Premiere May 5th 2019). On May 5th 2019, Tool performed the full version of "Descending" for the first time at Welcome To Rockville 2019. The new song will feature on the new Tool album.
@@chrismoore7882 man I know the feeling, I'm fairly tall and that always seems to attract jerks that want to start a pit right on top of me for some reason. Worst offender was some rando that decided to use my back as a launch ramp to crowd surf without saying anything to me about it. As soon as I felt his weight on me I sidestepped and he face-planted. He then immediately hassled me for a good while for not launching him into the crowd. I will never understand why some of these people waste their time if their not gonna enjoy the show.
You literally had 13 years to argue about your crumbling relationship, but you chose the moment when Tool played new song for the first time. Kek. Just fing kek
Yes she did!! I think over excited!! Lmao. She says I saw them when I was 14. And I just love this song!!! I’m going to give her a break!! Just a huge fan!! 😀👍👍
I fucking hate the talking too. I can barely watch the video, bc I'm so annoyed with the audience. I saw Tool at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam (2019), and the audience was quiet, and just stfu, as they should... besides the cheering on epic climaxes in this song! . My god, can't people just shut up over there and listen to that performance ?
Also Tool Fans: "Shouldn't we at least consider WolfeSpeider on RU-vid's feelings? I don't think he'd be happy we were here talking during a loud rock show...there are people all over the world who didn't come to this show...we really should be thinking about their experience watching this on cell phone video"
God the only thing worse then oblivious Tool fans are the ones who talk like they're inside Maynards head "Haha all you filthy peasants don't realize you're exactly the kind of fan Maynard hates, it's like none of you have even read the lyrics to Hooker With a Penis." Jesus please just shut the fuck up and listen to the music.
As a guitarist, when I learn a tool song, it baffles me how easy and standard Adams note selections is. But at the same time it's the most original sounding shit out there. No one mistakes tool for anyone else.
Dynamic range and patience in building are pretty much the foundations of the Post Metal genre. In fact Tool got me into Post Metal on the 10k Days tour when they featured ISIS as an opening act. Definitely check out Post Metal if you haven't already (Isis, Rosetta- The Galilean Satellites, and We Lost the Sea are some of my faves)
I know right, every-time I've heard this song I've heard the talking about being 14 years old, and when I was 14 years old, I was recording guitar tracks on an old cassette deck. Strange days...
@@pakoken im extremely happy with the studio versions but i miss my guy who says ooooh when descending goes into its marching beat in the instrumental section
@@pakoken honestly i still love it but there is no reason to listen to it anymore because the studio version actually has vocals and damn good vocals at that
The reason I love Tool more than any other band is that, whenever I listen to them, I have the feeling that they know something that the rest of the universe ignores.
Life Imitating Death the intro has been floating around RU-vid and Instagram for almost a year. But still, all those people talking don’t know how to Tool. Like you paid for the ticket, enjoy the show. If there is a band you are supposed to listen, really listen, is Tool. So annoying.
Most people only know their popular radio singles and haven't listened to the full albums. They wouldn't know the difference if this is a new song or not. When I saw them in 2016, they played "Opiate" and at least three people around me asked if it was a new song
Tool fans are legitimately the worst. They completely ruined the band for me honestly. They're self absorbed pricks that think they're woke for listening to a band. I wouldn't recommend going to a concert strictly because you'll be surrounded by thousands of these morons.
LYRICS I CAN FIGURE OUT SO FAR: You're only 22 No I saw them back in '14 Watch Maynard, Watch the Energy (x2) 'WOAH!' *Maynard sings indistinguishable*
Unka Truk Give him a break guys, Unka Truk has been waiting YEARS to be able to be super “edgy and cool” by criticising new Tool music. He’s had to wait such a long time. I know he’s wrong but humour his bullshit, the poor guy.
James, i gave my like, even if the song wasn't tested yet (live) and there are some small imperfections, but the matter is: u should read "Minority report" by Philip K.Dick (not the movie with fucking tom cruise, i mean the real sci-fi tale) so you can see how happens that, without those 886 (a minority report, in this case), all the other 32633 become meaningless
I've seen Tool live more than a few times and I FUCKING LOVE when Justin and Adam seem to just turn towards Danny simultaneously, as if they've just started channeling energy.
@@evilthirdeye That's exactly what they're doing. I was at one of the VIP events where Adam talked to us and he talked about this specifically. He also said that's why he doesn't "rock out" when playing, he's too busy counting and keeping time.
I’m a young tool fan and it just amazes me how they lay their riffs and rhythms on top of each other sounding like they shouldn’t fit but it does perfectly 🤯
my dad was one of the biggest tool fans and followed them around constantly going to plenty of concerts. he passed away 2 years ago from colon cancer and im sitting in my car weeping listening to the new music because he’s not here to share the moment. thank you for the upload; it sounds so amazing
I’m the father in this scenario. Ive gotten my two sons and daughter heavily into Tool and have taken all 3 to their concerts on separate occasions. One day after I’ve shoved off this planet I see my kids doing what you just described and it brings a tear to my eye. Thanks for the comment.
Paid $85 for a concert ticket, $30 for parking, and $15 a beer ,... Just so we could have Tool play in the background whilst having a meaningless conversation.
dantediss1 hey!!! We had a great conversation about climate change and micro plastics thank you very much... (but yeah, weird.... I have never had mental space to blabber during a tool show...)
on one hand i wish i was there to see this. on the other, i'm glad i wasn't there to catch the felony for murdering that meatsack who talked through the song.
Richard M i got to see them! Although the dickheads in the video talked too much i was luckily in an area where no one was talking but rather enjoying the new masterpiece
Bella Quinones i got to see them there i did get annoyed of the people talking but they were really good overall and i was shocked when they started playing those new songs i legit just told the people around me to shutup
OldBurnzy Not every lesbian couple is good looking. Both of them were a disaster. And regardless. I’d rather listen to the band live than watch two chicks make out. I can see hotter chicks on PornHub constantly
Someone asked me to make a super group composed of who I thought was the greatest vocalist, bassist, guitarist, and drummer since the 1950's. Here's what I came up with. Maynard James Keenan Justin Chancellor Adam Jones Danny Carey
I remember reading that someone (Rolling Stone I think) did a survey of the best ever for singer/guitar/bass/drums to make a hypothetical super group and the result was Led Zeppelin. I never looked it up to verify but it's pretty cool if true!
You could make an argument or Danny Carey on that list. Maynard and Adam just happen to be personal favorites of mine. Justin and Danny for best drummer/bassist duo.
Fuck last time it was some stupid chick! This time some stupid dude! These people just can't seem to appreciate what the fuck they are hearing! Fucking hate people sometimes!
1M views in 3 days, goes to show these album sales will be INSANE, i honestly cant wait i grew up listening to Tool. I hope they add to media outlets, physical copies will no doubt be sold out...
To think that tool began with such an aggressive attitude and turned into this peacefull, thoughtfull entity is such a beautiful evolution. With their fifth and potentially last album I couldn't be happier with the direction they take. Listening to their Albums always felt like a journey, and their discography seems to be an odyssey. Thank you Maynard, Justin, Adam and Danny as well as Paul for showing what a bunch guys could create with a certain ammount of effort and care put into their art. Spiral out. Keep going.
@@MegnetaFusion I was in the crowd and yelled it around the same moment, about 30 feet to the right of where you were. Been waiting a long time to hear this song with lyrics
Just a friendly reminder that this is a festival not a Tool concert so half these people are probably drunk disconnected people who aren't as hardcore into Tool as an actual Tool concert. That's why I avoid festivals.
I saw this comment on a vf jam video, not going to flame. But this is totally different from the other vid. I reckon Danny's drums always suit the music. He rarely "over plays" something that is easy to do in metal. In the context of tool his parts are really melodic and symbiotic with guitar n bass. That part around 6 min mark, him slamming the Tom's... really cathartic.
I think adam jones just catapulted to one of the greatest guitarists of all time. By no means is this the most difficult riff, but thatis one of the most powerful and beautiful ideas ever. This has to be the most single greatest song ever recorded in the history of the world.
I have no shame admitting that the first time I heard this song, there was a part after the build up that had me holding back tears of joy. Meanwhile you just want to lean into it and headbang to the cymbal crashes and shit. Adam Jones and his Les Paul guitar are blessing to the world.... well at least my life.
well to be fair the bitch was throwing people out of the show for taking his pick. so why would they respect him to start. bitch to much of a punk to even sing up front
Ever notice the ones who talk during a show also cheer the loudest when the songs over, like they were so deeply moved by it?? How about the chick almost 8 minutes into the song who finally realizes its new. Time to shut the fuck up 🤐
This is my first time experiencing a new tool album. Since I've been a fan there discography hasn't changed. I was too young to know them when 10000 days released. The hype is more than real
It's very likely not as bad in person. The microphone is better at picking up the stuff around it, and likely implements some noise handling that further puts the chatter in front. Close sources are exaggerated. I doubt it's worse than any other show where people pass remarks like "oh shit, is this new" to their friends.
@Matt Reis who's worshipping? Just making a statement that Danny is one of the best contemporary drummers out there. This coming from a guy mucking about with drums himself, who listens to all kinds of music and has seen some of the world's greatest drummers play live. Peace
He is up there but a bit overrated due to Tool mania. Don't get me wrong I love Tool and Danny for many years now but better drummers popped up in the meantime haha. Marco Minnemann comes to mind and I consider him one of, if not the most versatile drummer out there imo, check him out and the bands he plays in. From Necrophagist to Steven Wilson hahaha
This song is so damn good. I'm having a hard time not listening to this live version because this is truly amazing. I cant wait for the studio album August 30th! I'll be standing outside my local record store waiting for them to open
It's not like MJK engages the audience- he walks off while the rest of the band plays. Most people go to concerts to blow off steam- not stand there in a trance.
It’s like listening to “one” heartbeat... These guys obviously love each other more than we can fathom. I only have a few that know my depths, this well...This is not a “show”, it’s an “exposure”...Raw and heartfelt. Thank You...
I saw your other comment on Invincible, you have my sympathy about your mom. It's great she was TOOL fan, consider she is continuing to Spiral Out. Perhaps she is even a part of this song. Energy cannot be destroyed. 🎶
Hey, there are many of us that feel the same thing. Someone important who never made it to hear this. Thanks for sharing, and fuck anyone commenting something smart ass on this.
