Absolutely love this song. One of my brothers favorite bands when this came out, we talked about how we liked this album along with other tool albums when they came out. Opiate, Undertow, Aenima, Lateralus, 10,000 days. He passed away last June and this is the song I chose for his service. Love you Brother. Miss you.
My mom passed away on Labor day of this year. I had sat and shown her and my father Pneuma and was satisfied. I am a drummer, so of course I found Pneuma live as the gold standard for drumming. My dad has picked backup guitar and is going at it full steam. My dad has mentioned some guitar masters for me to look at, and I mentioned Adam Jones as someone I love. My dad is now checking out this and other Tool videos. Dad, if you see this, I love you and I am so happy you are picking guitar back up. The idea that you and I would chat about Tool videos is a life memory that will last me until the day I die. I love you Pupster-T-Pupster. Mom, I love you too.
I was at this show. My first time experiencing Tool live! Seeing Danny do his thing live was mind blowing! Tool is definitely my drug of choice and I want more! This is the song they closed with and they also played Right In Two which was a nice surprise. The one time in my life I wish I was a security guard! Spiral out!
No doubt. It's so beautiful. Regardless of where you come from or what your background is, we can all relate to MJK's lyrics. We all want to relive our youth. I get weepy when I hear it 😭
I've been to over 200 concerts in my life and 21 of those were RUSH spanning 31 years. Tool is the only band I've ever seen live that even comes close to reaching that level of live magic! These guys are light years ahead of anyone who is still writing, recording and touring! Was at Atlanta 2020. Going to Tulsa, Omaha, KC, and St Louis! And quite a few shows back in the 90's.
Agree 100%. Early in my Tool concert history (2001) I thought of them as a highly evolved Rush (who I saw 12 times), and I still maintain that today. Tool is the greatest band I’ve ever seen.
just more proof that the shape of a guitar has nothing to do with the way it sounds... and absolutely not, there isn't a guitar manufactured in my opinion that is worth $20,000 regardless of who it belongs to or who has their name on it. if I'm paying $20,000 then Adam Jones himself better show up at my house and play the guitar for me. besides, i have an original 1979 silver burst lp and it cost me $2500... and great performance once again from my favorite guitar player.
Tool was initially hard for me to get into. I think now In retrospect, it’s because they are all such singular musicians. They are all so powerful and demanding in their own right. Their music demands such attention. They truly are amazing and I’m now a fan. Just purchased opiate and fear inoculum on vinyl and I’m excited to get into their catalog.
Absolutely. When I first heard Undertow in '93, I loved it 'cause it was a great rock record without the complex prog rock elements of Aenima, Lateralus, 10K days or Fear. When I heard Aenima in '96 I took me a while to fully digest it. It was way more involved and intricate. Adam Jones said each member is a perfectionist so thats what we're hearing. I'm totally here for it 🤘🤘
@@skutts same, i grew up with Tool’s hits but only now i understand all of the hype and greatness. i always knew they were great but wow, it is nice knowing their full potential
I heard TooL played Right in Two at this show. Extremely powerful song. Now is the time Right in Two is very applicable in this current time. This video is on point as well 👍 thanks for the upload 😊
Yup then Descending two songs later. here is the set Fear Inoculum Opiate (tour debut; extended version) The Pot Pushit (First time since 2014, album version) Pneuma The Grudge Right in Two (First time since 2011) Hooker With a Penis (First time since 2014) Descending Intermission Chocolate Chip Trip Eon Blue Apocalypse The Patient Invincible
@@jjg2213 it is the short intro to The Patient so maybe for the purpose of a stage set list they left it off knowing that it naturally goes with that song? They did play it as I remember?
The fact that a fucking 8 year old gets to see Tool before me and I'm 16 makes me wanna fucking kill myself not gonna lie. But I get to see them March 1st and 10th hopefully if it doesn't get cancelled
That’s great! I had my 12 year old with me in the front row. We had VIP tickets at the one that got cancelled in 2020. He’s a huge Tool fan. He can play some of their riffs on guitar.
agh this is making me so jealous, 15 and have heard them my whole life (parents are fans), and in the past year and a half I have been getting into them at unhealthy levels
@@CarrionMorris Young Padawan, there is no such thing as an “unhealthy” amount of listening to Tool. My first show was at the Salem Armory, in Oregon, in 1996. I’ve been to several including the Portland show where they recorded part of Salival. I was also at the last show in Portland before the tour was shut down. Find a way to “Jedi Mind Trick” your parents to take you to a show.
It's too late now sadly, but I think I can next tour (assuming they have one) since the reason we didn't attend this one was because of covid, although it now appears they did end up being very safe on that regard
That's so true. I was in high school when Undertow came out. When I saw them in 2001/2002 the crowd was quite raucous. Fast forward to 2019, everyone is super chill, their kids are with them, people are sitting down. I really do feel my age 😂😂
For those who requested. Set list was as follows: 1. Fear Inoculum 2. Opiate 3. The Pot 4. Push it 5. Pneuma 6. The Grudge 7. Right In Two 8. Hooker With A Penis 9. Descending 12 Minute Intermission 10. Chocolate Chip Trip 11. The Patient 12. Invincible
I would love to see Tool come out with a major full length movie with their music and the incredible visuals used in their videos. Pink Floyd did it with The Wall and it was very successful. I think a Tool movie would be a major success.
I was as well. Have a video from that show posted as well. My son’s and I had VIP tickets to the Eugene show the next day when it got cancelled. My 10 year then (12 year old now) is complains about the show being shut down and missing it.
Thank-you so much for capturing the moment so well .Melbourne 2020 feels like a lifetime ego in so many ways. Hat’s off to you and as for that band, well they have changed many a life 👍
That was the 4th time I saw them. I went to buy early tickets and didn't notice it was for Oregon (I live in Utah). After I realized I screwed up. My first thought was "well, guess we are going to Oregon" . Definitely worth it and an incredible show. Went song perfectly with my 25 wedding anniversary.
Awesome. I see them in a few weeks. 19th row sounds good. I'm concerned about where I'm sitting. I don't know yet. To be a bit further away is great cause you get to take in quite a visual feast.
@@rubaidaallen2764 fortunately I got the best of both worlds. Sat center high up the next night in Tacoma! Video the first night and then photos the next night for the last song. I love the compromise as we all really take in the majority of the show and then have at it for the last one. Have a great time!
Yes you were! My son was also given the set list for the show. Almost caught a drumstick for him as well. I saw them in Portland the night the Governor shut everything down in Oregon. We had VIP tickets the next night in Eugene. At least we got front for this make up show.
Great video! I love when Justin was carrying the song… Adam just stopped playing and let him do it. And Maynard pacing in circles? Winding up for an amazing vocal performance. Danny the octopus of course amazed me as usual.
Thank you. A few people have messaged me saying the angle is terrible etc. My seats were my seats. Did the best I could do people could see the guitar for the first time and not get sick from the video spinning around all of the time like people do.
Waited basically forever to finally see them in Eugene then they literally canceled the day of show because cov. And I unfortunately wasn't able to go to this show. Was pretty bummed. So thank you for posting this! One of my favorites
We were supposed to attend a meet and greet with TOOL in 2021, but the stupid scamdemic ruined everything. Sitting front row at a TOOL show, was something I was looking forward to, big time!!! Last time I was that close to TOOL, was the Opitate Tour in 1992-93, at The Paradise Lounge in S.F. Same goes for A Perfect Circle, when Tim Alexander played for them, Maynard refused to start, until the stage lighting was turned off. Lmao his self appointed precious little self, even turned his back to the crowd, refusing to sing, until they turned off the lights. Musicians are so freakin spoiled.
@@rulerofomicronpersei8 I feel your pain. I was fn gutted about that too. I had a gift for Adam Jones, a beautiful Sargent coffee table book. I was really looking forward to gifting him the book but fn covid ruined everything. I'm going to see them toward the end of February, but possibly meeting the magnificent trio, sound check and group photo have effectively ended. Tears were shed. I'm happy the tours on though.
That concert was pre Covid. Drove down from Buffalo with my Buddy to see that show. Sat next to two guys that flew in from Atlanta to see that show. Amazing show and everyone there had a great time
A Tool roadie said years ago if you don't see Maynard or only his silhouette behind a screen he isn't there. His double is the silhouette and the vocals are prerecorded. 🤨
