Some of my favorite tried-and-tested tools I use when building arcades. Nothing special, just rambling about tools that are 'pretty good' from my arcade building experience. I am building some larger custom arcades at the moment which are taking longer than expected; so please enjoy this filler content!

Ryan, any video of yours is worth watching, even if it is “filler”.

I started with a shapeoko circa 2014. was pretty much terrible but it gave me the drive to learn and justify seeking better tools.

You said "when you get a nice pair of flush cutters..." but then at 2:28 you can see that your pair has different jaw lengths and they don't meet at every point when closed. :D These are kind of the Rolls Royce of flush cutters--at something like 10x the price of a normal pair--but Tronex does an incredible job. (There are a staggering number of varieties for just about any job. I got the 5049's to have tiny jaws with long reach for trimming the supports off resin 3D prints.) The jaws are ground to a perfect fit with identical lengths and the action is smoother than I've ever felt before. I never thought I'd have a strong opinion about flush cutters, but there it is. hehe. In the meantime: nice video. Even your "filler content" is high quality. I'm excited to see more.

right; the message there was "wear safety glasses when using snippers." I explained the jaws on my Xcelite snippers broke while using them. I'll look at Tronex, cause they look very fine. Thank you for the suggestion.

@@RetroBuiltGames Oh, sorry! My two year old was interrupting during the part where you described them being broken and I didn't catch the audio. That explains how they were that far off. (Also, yes: wearing safety glasses while cutting is the right answer!)

@Ryan Bates Do you have a link for the laser cut files for the table top cabinet you built a few years ago?

Wera won’t be the last set you buy, you will end up getting more Wera ones, they are amazing quality, and worth the cost.

Just curious, have you ever been accused of making an arcade design overcomplicated? 😂
