Tools to better your surfing "Soloshot 3" Surf Vlog by Noel Salas Ep.10 

Hi Noel I love your show and like your reviews a lot. Regarding solo shot I must tell you about my experience with this company. When solo shot 2 was still in development I had pre purchased a base unit with two tags. It had finally released about 4 months after they said it was going to originally. That was no big deal however as I was stoked to finally get the product and start checking it out. It worked as advertised and after I got used to setting it up correctly I really enjoyed using it. However I lost a tag about five moths later out in the surf as the elastic armband is super stretchy and can rip off your arm in moderate to strong surf. About two months after hat it happened again and I lost the second tag. I was bummed but was ready to buy more tags which were originally $99 each. The real frustration for was when I contacted soloshot they no longer supported SS2 as they were working on SS3 Model. I had about a little under a year of use with a $850 purchase that no was no longer supported. I looked everywhere for replacement tags and quickly realized there are none available. All solo shot was able to do was offer me discount on a pre purchase for solo shot 3 Model. I have the emails from them saying just that. I can’t express enough how disappointed I was with SoloShot’s abandonment of there product support. I see them as an R&D company looking to sell their patents and don’t think they are trying to build they’re brand for the long term. SS3 wasn’t even out yet and they no longer supported SS2. That’s just bad business and potential buyers need to know what they’re investing in. They’re products are built well and do work as advertised, but they’re quick to move on to newer tech and don’t have the means or desire to support they’re previous generations. I’d be interested to hear from others who have SS1 and SS2 models as to whether or not they’ve had similar experiences. Love your show!

Noel, I really like what you're doing with your channel. With the miserable winter we've had, to put in surf product reviews alongside the surfboard reviews keeps it interesting. I think the surf industry has been so pro centric over the last few decades, and only recently there's been a stronger push towards helping the regular surfer get better which is a very good thing.

Hey I've used my Soloshot 3 quite a bit & agree it's an awesome product for improving your surfing - the only issue I find is unless where you are Surfing has no one around I'm always distracted by having to watch it so no one steals it - I've used it once or twice just inside my car as a regular video camera & that kinda works at one break I surf though.....

Great concept to funnel other reviews. Always like your channel, allowing others to review this could really take off. Best to you.

that's a major advancement. this camera is very important for every surfer.

I really want one and think this could really improve my surfing but the price tag is steep! Also would worry about it getting stolen.. For now I'll stick with my GoPro Hero 3 especially after reading the comment about the solo shot 2.. Looking forward to your next review!!

i would love to get a soloshot and review/ test boards , but i dont have the funds for a soloshot, rinding the vodochild right now,best board ive had yet

Considering this is their 3rd version it s full of bugs. I got mine after waiting 2 years, sitting though many excuses why the product launch was delayed only to end up with a overhyped product. Lucky they gave me a full refund. Btw I had the first model so I had hope it was a major improvement but no. Please look at other reviews before you rush out to buy. Notice the lack of surfers not promoting this product without being sponsored to do so. I hope they get things worked out because it would be nice to see it worked as advertised. Hi Noel - thank you so much for all of your research and analysis. I've learned tons from watching your reviews and videos. It's amazing to watch you surf all these high tech boards, but I'm wondering if you could do a show for some of your less advanced subscribers. We've all seen J.O.B. on his Odyssea boards, and I myself surf on a Liquid Shredder fish board and honestly, I think it's better than my EVO board at a quarter of the price. I'm not asking you to get on a Wavestorm, but I think it would be really educational for us to see you on some different kinds of boards, just to understand maybe how it affects your turns and speed, and what many of us might gain by trying different boards and fins. If you ever do a beater board/soft board episode, I think many average surfers out there could benefit. Thanks again!

Just thought I'd throw in my recent experience.with this item. My first use of it the footage came out ok. Marine layer overcast did not provide a whole lot of light. It kept trying to focus for some unknown reason and I figure it may have been because my tag was indicating a poor GPS signal. I was surfing at Church a week ago. That was ok. Figured I'd have to dial it in a bit more. Took it home, charged it back up...then the tag began flashing an "error 25" on it. Then the tag failed to power up all together. Currently all my attempts to contact Soloshot about this issue via message on their website and numerous calls and voicemails has resulted in no response whatsoever. I'm going to give it another day for them to respond then maybe a call to the Better Business Bureau if they fail to get back with me.

Is it possible you load software or stick some sort of tracker on the soloshot 3. If it gets stolen you could track the thief and beat the crap out of them ;)

Hey Noel, I've really enjoyed my solo shot 3, as it's giving me a chance to see my surfing and start to find areas of improvement. While my experience with the camera has not been perfect, any issues I've run into were very quickly addressed by soloshot customer service. So far other than a few minor frustrations it's been a really cool product for me. Regarding board review/collaboration: I've recently been riding a WRV El Jefe (5'11). It's an award winning board for East Coast Surfers; a performance board for knee to overhead. I'm a 43yo intermediate who moved at 40 to OBX to make surfing a lifestyle...but performance is nowhere near your quality😁 check my channel if interested.

They don't sell a pitbull with the camera by any chance to make sure it doesn't get stolen while surfing ?

Both the solo shot because I love all your reviews, not your fault but I certainly feel like I got ripped off - This things seems like junk, won't track & when it does 99% of the footage is useless - what a rip off & ZERO customer service !! Not even a response via email to return, WOW
