That's amazing! I also have one of those that lasted for 5 good years and barely missed any wave. If I put in a good maintenance by rinsing off the tag and wipe the connectors with alcohol wipes from time to time, it would likely still be working.

@@SkipperSurfReview They def take a salty, windy, wet beating. I'm amazed mine is still golden. mostly due to my meticulous care for all components. I almost always bring a water bottle with me surfing and rinse the tag right away. Wipe the base and cam(s) off well and bubble wrap em. No pelican case but I have a zippered SS carry bag. Hi Susie! Sorry to hear about this! Did you try to work with your credit company to dispute it? This company sucks! That's why I'm not planning on buying anything directly from them.

OMG this is horrible. I am stuck in a wait for an upgrade, and Im afraid to ask for a refund....

SS3+ can record in 4K. SS3 Optic25 records only in 720/1080 30 fps.

I’ve been concerned for a while when I initially got one. In the winter here, the beach is usually empty but it gets crowded in the summer. So what I usually is to find some couple or family w the kids and ask them to keep an eye on the cam politely. In most cases it works.. but one time in California, a bit of north of LA, one family looked super sketchy and I think they tried to steal it… I got out of the water immediately and moved it away lol. So hope yours will be ok. Some guys use the secure lock w the cable to attach it to the lifeguard stances. It does work thought. The camera has a hole for secure locks.

Mike said that it worked a few months ago but he hasn't been using it since then. However I met a few more people who have been having issues. If you are ready to tinker and have a lot of patience to wait, then go for it.

He’s got a replacement (new one) after Part 1. I guess Soloshot saw the review and decided to send him a replacement right away.

I'm not really sure. I will ask Mike about it. He's been traveling with the new Soloshot 3+. He texted me and said the experience wasn't great.. I will get more deets soon!

yeah, they are not cheap. I usually try to set it up in a place with less people or find some family with kids and set it up next to them. I also politely to keep an eye on it. That usually helps to worry less about it. haha.

It does but has some issues when the cam is setup uphill on the rocks. Mike was out of frame. Soloshot was going to push new update to fix it. I’m not sure where it will happen. It tracks fine when it’s at the beach near the sea level

@@SkipperSurfReview yeah. My experience with my soloshot has always been that it tracks reliably left-right, but it seems to just point randomly when it comes to the vertical angle. I really wish I could rewrite the code for the vertical angle, or at least got more control of it. I have maybe 30 hours of video with me in the frame, and another 100 with me above or below the frame. This is surfing, mostly pretty far from shore (like 800ft or so from the camera). I sent my 3 in for upgrade; they received it Dec 10 2022 and it's been nothing but excuses since then. I'm still holding on to a few last glimmers of hope that they will eventually send me something... Also, the tags only last about 30 charge cycles before the battery managment goes all crazy and won't charge (I've bought 3, and all of them died after between 10 and 30 cycles.). It's a very challenging product to build; I just wish the company was more honest about the issues they have. I wish they would open-source the code so we could fix their bugs and add the missing features (e.g. gallery on the camera).

You can just use an iPhone and angle it. Check out eBay! They have some used units for good price.

@@SkipperSurfReview Hi Yuri, thank you for the response! I started surfing 3 months ago and don’t want to form bad habits. I’m currently riding a soft top 7’ storm blade SSR and surf in Oceanside/Carlsbad. I have tried using my iPhone with a tripod but the image was so pixelated I could not see where I was looking, so I was looking to get a solo shot for better quality. The GoPro is not the same from a land view and I don’t have a good enough friend who’s willing to sit there and film me haha. I’ll maybe try a decent camera and use the tripod

Either way, it seems like a headache to get a good working one, cause I already know how it is to deal with soloshots non existing customer service, and waiting for Barry to reply with emails or to FINALLY call...it takes FOREVER. So instead of risking getting one that gets beat up by UPS in a mint condition box somehow...im sticking with my decision from part 1 and not purchase this.

@@NoOneisHereAnyway Hey Carl! Thanks for watching. My buddy’s Soloshot is working but not all the time perfect. I’ve got some feedback from other people. I know one guy in Wisconsin who surfs the lake, he has been getting a great footage for a few months and a few days ago it just died on him mid session. He’s going to reach out to Soloshot and see how to send back in to replace/repair it. Hope it works out. I’m personally still on the fence to get it as I know for fact it may take forever with a lot of headache to deal with Barry and Co.

@SkipperSurfReview ha so yea with thst updated info, I'll stick to not buying it for sure. The one I had last year was such a headache to operate and a real pain in the ass to work with their "customer service"... I get it's only a handful of people, but I just don't want to go through all that again. Thanks foe the update
