I recently watched Mask of the Phantasm then the animated series for the first time since I was a kid. I honestly couldn't believe how storiedand mature some of the stories were for an early 90's cartoon. It's no wonder it was a cartoon my late grandfather loved to watch with me.
Having Batman: Mask of the Phantasm being number 1 proves one thing. No matter how many reboots and remakes they make, you just can't beat the old classics.

@@a1saiyan105 absolute cap the whole story and voice acting is so much better in the red hood, the emotional aspect of story telling is also way better and you feel for characters much more, you feel how they feel. It’s also a much more fun movie to watch and it’s the biggest event in Batman’s character as it fully questions his moral code and whether it’s truly better or if it’s actually worse not to kill.

In large part, all the adaptations of comic story arcs have their issues. They have to omit so much, and they feel kinda by-the-numbers. We should RECOGNIZE when the classic panels in motion, yes. It's weirdly like the creative team is too reverent to really breathe life into them, though.

the former is the second episode of Batman the animated series. The latter is an episode from the New Batman Adventures(sometimes packaged as season 4 of B:tAS)
Overall, it's OK, which is not what a Batman film should be. When it does the actual Killing Joke story, it's great. However, the prologue could have been shorter and not included "that scene."
Nah, the Killing Joke does not deserve to be here. The second half was indeed pure gold because that is when the Joker arrives but we are forced to sit through 30 minutes or so of padding.. The first half should have had a story of the Joker and how Gordon was essential to his capture. This would have set up the Killing Joke story much better. Instead we were treated to a generic villain and creepy Bat sex. It was an opportunity lost.
It was also a weird choice to have Barbara as a POV only to ditch that halfway in. Granted, she was hospitalized, but it makes things all the more disjointed
"Return Of The Caped Crusaders", was just the best, in it's own way, with Adam West, Julie Newmar, and, Burt Wart, reprising their roles as Batman, Catwoman, and, Robin! I was a kid when this first showed on television, and, I laughed out loud when that first animated opening sequence rolled! As, I'm coming to believe, was the point! THIS Batman was obviously meant to be taken with a grain of salt, and, a gentle spirit! Anyone expecting a serious Dark Knight , was bound to be disappointed, and, though NOT what I was expecting, I soon found myself rushing home to see it! Return Of The Caped Crusaders, was, for ME, an instant classic! RIP, Adam West! You done good!
Mask of the Phantasm and Return of the Joker are the pinnacle of a vigilante movie done right. It was SO refreshing to see Terry's different take on Batman, and how he was the only one who actually made Joker lose his cool by throwing back his ego in his face. Mask of the Phantasm is just a masterpiece and Mark Hamill is a legend. Love both these movies more than any of the live action movies (Though The Dark Knight is incredible)
I can’t believe that they didn’t give honorable mention of “The Batman VS Dracula” movie! It’s one of the best Batman movies with such amazing animation, a great blend of PG rated horror, and the fact of having Batman fighting against Dracula!
I believe the animated batman movies " Mask of the phantasm" and " return of the joker" have captured more of the essence and maturity of batman than any of the live action batman films.
It's always great to be a fan of Batman, especially in the Animated variations. There's always someone who wants to put their own spin on the Dark Knight, and that's always something to look forward to. And hey, no matter if its Roger Craig Smith, Diedrich Bader, Peter Weller, the legendary Kevin Conroy, or the late Adam West, they know how to deliver as the Dark Knight.
My Dad took me to the Christmas midnight release of Mask of the phantasm. It was so good Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamill as the joker best voices ever.
OMG..I'm so happy that mask finally got the recognition it truly deserves..animated or not it's a truly amazing film and one of my all time favorites..it's so well done that it's one of about 3 movies that I'll actually feel something during certain scenes..it's so underrated these days because no one in the newer generations really know about it and if the do they don't talk about it.. TRULY AMAZING to see it here

Another thing from The Lego Batman Movie; the likes of the Gremlins, the Daleks, Sauron and the Wicked Witch of the West appeared in Lego Dimensions whereas King Kong, the Kraken, and Agent Smith have _never_ had their franchises represented in any Lego media until 2017.

Batman: Bad Blood was another amazing Batman movie. Especially when it had Batwing; an African American Batman and Alfred showing off his fighting skills. It was like a Batman version of Into the Spider Verse.

Dude, half of Batman's identity is built on camp, even in the more serious adult works. If you can't recognize that, you will be required to hang up your cape and cowl and hand your batfan membership badge back to the club president. Batman is, at his very core, a man who dresses up as a bat, whose greatest nemesis is themed after a playing card, and whose most prominent love interest is a cat burglar literally themed around cats. Your excuse of 'human and reality aspect' is nothing short of really dumb-sounding drivel. Besides 'Giant monkey made of tiny monkeys' really has nothing on some of the silver age comic concepts, like the Batman of many colors, the Bat-Man of Zur-en-agh, Polka-Dot man, and most importantly Bat-Mite, who is easily one of the craziest and most ridiculous yet interesting ideas in the Batman mythos.

Batman Vs Dracula should’ve been on this list. It may not be the best, but it brings the dark atmosphere about Batman going up against someone who can bets him in every aspect of his skills, but it shows Batman’s ingenuity and creative tactics when he fights Dracula and beats him It is still one of my favorite Batman movies from my childhood

Batman Ninja, Mask of Phantasm, and Return of the Joker are great. Side note: Cam we talk about Suicide Squad movies with Batman as the "Bad Guy". We need this in video games and movies; the point of view of a criminal who has nightmares of Batman showing up unannounced and leaving without a trace. It would be like a Predator or a slasher film where the ending is the few that survived till the sunrise or them running into the arms of the cops so that they don't suffer broken bones. The Batman:Mask of The Phantasm is the coolest and awesome movie animation ever in all because the story is very interesting and cool,the villains are awesome and incredible and the action scenes are cool and incredible
