Pretty surprised Toadally Awesome itself didn't make the list. It's an omni-negate that can steal cards, can use itself as the cost for that negate, and recycle itself. You don't even need to run any other Aqua monsters to use it at least once, you can cheat it out with Bahamut Shark, use itself to negate something, put it back in the Extra Deck and potentially cheat it out again if Bahamut Shark is still on field.
He's said in the past when he makes these lists, he only puts one card of each archetype on the list. The Toad is certainly fantastic, but I don't think it has the same wide reaching impact as Swap Frog has had.
@@carolinedavis8339 its actually more impressive than Swap Frog as you can use Toad in decks that don't use frogs but simply can summon shark, bahamuth shark
Penguin soldier should be on this list since it saw quite a fair amount of play in the past and being able to bounce back 2 monsters is great back in the day
I mean, if we want a really good Aqua staple from back in the day i'd say Tribe Infecting Virus Is the one since It was present in every goat format deck.
What's funny about Catapult Turtle, in the anime they actually had to make up a fake card to force Turtle to be once per turn so that Yugi couldn't OTK. So even way back in the mid 2000s the writers were like, this card has to be once per turn."
@@kyuven That's actually a different duel than I was talking about. In that duel Turtle was used once. But in Waking the Dragon (the season most people don't like but I'm fine with), Yugi summons Turtle on a board with many monsters. Rafiel plays a fake card called Limit Tribute, which forces both players to only tribute AT ALL once per turn. Because had he not done that, the writers knew (well Yugi could just use turtle on all his monsters at once, so we have to limit it).
I believe it was “Limit Tribute”, used by Raphael in his round 1 with Atem. I always wondered why they did that because I just always assumed it was once per turn LOL
@@ShyRanger I mean, the anime makes up cards all the time, and that season was probably the worst for those. Just in Yugi's first duel that season they needed to invent that Magical Academy card to use with Dark Magician Girl because she wouldn't otherwise be a valid target for Diffusion Wave Motion.
@@teddyhaines6613 Oh I know it makes up cards all the time, I just think it's funny that about 10 years before Turtle got errata'd to be once per turn, there was already a situation in the show where the writers had to do that anyway.
Electric Jellyfish is another very good aqua monster. You can discard an Umi from the deck to special summon another aqua monster from your hand and once per turn it can either negate a spell or monster effect if Umi is on the field + gain attack points if it successfully negates. In Master Duel, I had gotten one of my Jellyfish up to over 4000 atk because of this.
Logs used to pronounce "XYZ" by speaking each letter separately. There are likely a few other examples of wrong pronunciation he's done that I'm not thinking of. Maybe we will get a top ten list of those eventually.
In case someone doesn't know. It's likely due to how impactful they were in the OCG that their name got stuck in people's minds as "Tearalaments" which is so close to what the TCG got that some people simply haven't changed pronunciations yet.
He said he's doing it on purpose to piss people off. Also Tearlaments katakana is ティアラメンツ where you can clearly see Tear (チイア)and Laments (ラメンツ) are separated and have no connector, so Tearlaments is the correct pronounciation even in ocg.
Mobius also allows for an easy summon of Gungnir, Dragon of the Ice Barrier. Gungnir might be the weakest of the Ice Barrier synchros but it's still a decent field clearer (or at least was when people were playing Mobius).
My big brain Kaiju strategy when I use Superheavy Samurais is to remove a problematic boss monster (or an Xyz, Link or Pendulum monster, can't stand those) and then tune the Kaiju with Battleball to summon a high level Superheavy Samurai boss monster such as Steam King.
As an aside: Catapult Turtle can definitely still perform FTKs in modern YGO, but (A) there are so many better options, and (B) the main cards it can FTK with are monsters like Gren Maju and Numeron Dragon.
I wish Dangers would get new support, I really like them for some reason, and it would be fun seeing they played more for themselves rather as just another engine
A card called Number Evaille arrived in Master Duel and I remembered a video where you show the best monsters that Could be summoned using a card called A Wild Monster Appears. It would be cool to see the same video about Numbers Evaille and which 4 XYZs monster you have to use to summon the 5th monster
Haven't watched this, but I assume the list will include Catapult Turtle for the Magical Scientist thing, Treeborn Frog for recursion, Toadally Awesome because it always shows up and the top will be some Tearlaments stuff that I'm not familiar with but must be strong if it's one of the dominant meta threats right now. Probably other frog stuff as well like Substitoad, Ronintoadin or Swap Frog.
As others mentioned, duelogs uses only 1 card from an archetype to keep his lists diverse, cuz otherwise, like you mentioned half the list would be frogs/toads which is less interesting/informative
There's honestly a pretty easy way to fix cards like cannon soldier and that's to make it so that the effect can't activate if your opponent has a specific number of life points (or that it can't activate if a specific ammount of damage is dealt)
When I saw leviair entry I finally understood how great it is and how I should take advantantage of that. I strongly believe your channel does a great job helping players to learn all sort of stuff to improve. I hope this comment stands as proof of that.
Top 10 Dinosaur Monsters (I'm super biased for them) Top 10 Most "Expensive" Archetypes In Master Duel Top 10 Extra Deck Pendulum Monsters Top 10 Cards That Can Halve Your Opponents Attack, Damage, or Life Points Top 10 Synchro Tuners Top 10 Xyz Monster Effects That Don't Require Material Detachment
Has Duel Logs already made a list of the Top 10 Worst Dragon Monsters with Effects? That would be a nice list to look into since Dragons are some of the best types out there.
During mermails era I played jurracs with ice and fire hand in a rank 4 spam deck. That was some of the most fun I've ever had playing yugioh, just beat and repeat pop cards and make laggia, dolkka, 101, or anything else and stop everything their decks would try to do
I love your videos and like how simple they are but it's hard to focus or read for me with this fast moving and bright background (at the first card). Could you use a less distracting more simple background? Thank you!💜
I pulled 2 gold rare #3's recently. I've been saving 2 MGEL boxes until recently and opened them. But... I FINALLY GOT A DRAGOON FROM A SINGLE MEGA TIN. Since I've gotten back into Yugioh I've been trying to pull Dragoon. So it's big for me.
Random Video Idea I got while playing an old DS game: Cards that on release were already power crept by other Cards, not counting reprints and Cards on the forbidden/limited list. For example Big Piece Golem -> Cyber dragon
Idea: Top 10 Character-Specific Duel Links Skills. Stuff like Beatdown or Life Boost or Draw Sense would be ineligible. It would have to be Skills that are very clearly made for the specific Duelist. Or, to be even more specific, Top 10 Duel Links Skills That Add a Duelist's Signature Monster to Their Deck.
Zane's Cyber Style had to be nerfed to the ground because of how broken it was. Also got a number of other Cyber Dragon cards hit solely because of the skill and not so much because they were broken in a more pure build.
You mentioned how Gameciel sees play specifically because it’s the Kaiju with the lowest attack. That could be its own top 10 list. Monsters that would see less play if they had higher stats
I think he didn't include toadally awesome because he decided use swap frog to represent the frog engine of which toadallly awesome is essentially the boss monster.
I'd throw Stealth Kragen on here, Imve destroyed some high tier decks on MD with it and if they pop it you get 2 Spawns to go into the Draco Future package if you need it or terrorise the opponent crashing one into a monster and having 2 poppers on field, not to mention Gozen
note about the hands: they fell off out of favour with time even withing HAT format, cardcar artifact traptrix is now by far the best deck and hands are still splashed sometimes as decent cards but good players shit on them, plus debunk being a very common side card is not great for them
It makes sense since Shark/Nash's deck is revolved around fish, aqua, and sea serpents so it wouldn't make sense for his over hundreds number to be a machine. Also, there is the fish inspiration with Silent Honor Ark's design which is even more obvious in its chaos form.
I like how he's like "silent honor ark fell off for its time etc" but then we got Honor Dark, NASH, and NASH + and Ark has been relevant for each format those were present in for like 6 years now. Hard sell there as to why it's number 7, I'd argue 5 or 4 is more appropriate given how it also enables frogs and sharks to over-perform, or any rank 4 generic engine.
Knoami: we need a new anime boss monster Employee 1: use a warrior Employee 2: use a dragon Employee 3: anything but the last 2 and spell caster Since then employee 3 has been on the ban list at 0 copies
@@ace-trainer-aj And that makes sense due to how Varis was actuvely trying to hunt down the Ignis of which Cyberse is their thing also, this is random but I wish they didn't change vullet to rokket.
Im not gonna lie, i expected an Slime monster like Slime Reactor or Slime Guardian (mostly used for Egyptian Gods deck) they good for stalling for time with Slime Reactor summoning 2 token and being able to tribute itself for Reflect Metal Slime, an Trap card that you can summon as monster with 3k defense and Slime Guardian being able to copycat the opponent monster attack into defense for Guardian Slime
Kaiju gameciel effect is ridiculous good as it omninegate as long u have kaiju counter. Not to mention to gain kaiju counter is so easy kyoutou tower, by only send card from field to graveyard. Sadly, kyoutou tower ban is link event. Force me play typically live twin deck control deck, over go 2nd otk live twin deck. Kaiju also consider the best handtrap like effect since it tribute from your hand. Almost like handtrap but useful if go 2nd only.
it's a bit sad that not one monster on this list had Umi synergy, since that was THE aqua-fish-sea serpent support card back in the early days. Come to think of it, has there been any good Umi support past the 5d's era?
I think it’s time to unerreta a lot of these old water cards. Most of them have been power crept even if they were op back in the day they’d probably not even be meta relative today. Could probably unerreta other cards too like chaos emperor dragon.
im sad that kragen isnt here, what with its interaction with gozen and its nontargeting pop burn and floating into two xyz monsters that could just become udf if you wanted, or float back into kragen again
