this is what happens when they release old and new cards mished together, it results into some more obscure cards getting alot more attention

Exactly, it also gives weaker decks a “shinning moment”, just like he said, I HATE AMAZONESS!!! onslaught was and still is op even though it just got limited, even if I destroy it they can just crash into me using swords woman, or just stop me all together by putting 3 swords woman’s on the field, it’s so annoying

It's kind of funny to me that despite duel links having some very clear problems, it's allowed both new and old fans to jump in and enjoy yugioh in a form of nostalgia, as well as a form refreshment since i'm currently hearing a lot of people describe the TCG meta to be garbage or messy as hell. In a way, duel links managed to spark a soft spot for a large audience, while also (at least currently), being a slightly more appreciated version of the meta the card game has. It almost kinda makes me hope that duel links will never go much further than 5DS with its adapting of the stages of the card game, since even when it comes to the anime, a lot of people feel like all of yugioh kinda went downhill after 5DS. I'd love to see more 5DS content for the sake of not just the show, but the meta, with more synchro and tuner monsters to boot. But if it were up to me, i wouldn't touch anything else that came out after that.

Xyz is a fine format. It's essentially the same as synchro and fusion. Pendulums and Link really changed things up a whole lot. I still don't understand how pendulum or link work, and I've started watch Arc-V to try to understand lol
@knightmarecx2069
@knightmarecx2069 5 лет назад
Joseph Johnson watching Arc-V won’t teach you the correct way to use pendulum, pendulums were changed when links came out, when Links came out we were introduced to Master Rule 4 which is the current set of rules we use today in master duels, if you have doubts just ask me

A lot of the reason battle position changing cards see meta play is the lack of a Main Phase 2. With so much commitment to the battle phase, any disruption will ripple over to the next turn.
@wyspreegamings6380
@wyspreegamings6380 5 лет назад
Enemy Controller and Super Rush Headlong would've seen more play if there was a main phase 2 though. lul
@solidzack
@solidzack 5 лет назад
And thats why I want a main phase 2. You could easily attack into Wall of Disruption and still change the monsters that havent attacked into Defense mode or go for a synchro/tribute summon etc. Also you could normal summon in Main Phase 2 insteas of one to bait the treacherous in the battle phase so you dont end up with an empty board. I understand the 4000LP and 20 card deck format but theres no reason to not have a main phase 2 for me.
@Da_Swifta
@Da_Swifta 5 лет назад
Not having a main phase 2 is to further differenciate Duel Links' format from the TCG and to change up strategies that would otherwise rely on having a main phase 2, making some cards better because there isn't a main phase 2 that could negate the momentum you could gain from using say a Wall of Disruption, and making some strategies less viable as you'd have to plan your turn around just the first main phase rather than being given a chance to change your board after the battle phase. Personally I think it's a great change and a necessary one since it's made Duel Links into what it is today, since having only 1 main phase has molded a bunch of battle phase centered strategies and made so many decks more viable in DL than in the TCG and has given Duel Links a more unique competitive setting than regular old Yu-Gi-Oh!. If you want a main phase 2 so badly, go play the TCG instead.
@solidzack
@solidzack 5 лет назад
@@Da_Swifta good point youre making there. However I dont want a main phase 2 because I want it so badly, I want it because it would fix big problems that come with the 4000LP format: Heavy backrow, and the fact that a single spell/trap in the battle phase can be devastating for you because you cant RECOVER. Thats what the game lacks IMO : The chance of RECOVERY. I can live without a Main Phase 2 but I would welcome it as a change. It would also help synchros and decks like U.A a lot since you could go for offensive plays and in Main Phase 2 switch out your monsters for more defensive ones
@JojonathanOliveira
@JojonathanOliveira 5 лет назад
I don't think a main phase 2 would add any chance of Recover, in fact I think it would be even worst. Because we do not have a MP2, we are forced to take a huge gamble when planning the turn. Swarm the field with monsters and you a Wall of Disruption will kill you, rely on only one monster and Enemy Controller will kill you. This is strategy at play. There was one game which I kept Wall of Disruption sat on the field for about 5 or 6 turns, losing monster and taking damage just so my opponent would dismiss that card as a treat and would go full out giving me an opening that otherwise I wouldn't have. This was a recover. In theory, without a MP2 the more aggressive you play the less chance you have to winning however as Destiny Heroes have proven the assholes of Konami have long lost any interest in balance so backrow now is sort of useless. And this is the problem of this game

Actually, Enemy Controller after released in Ancient Sanctuary era was MOST DEFINITELY a main staple in Goat control that was happening back then... It was in a LOT of deck alongside Book of Moon just to counter Thousand-Eyes Restrict and Fiend decks that relied on Dark Necrofear's skill to take over your monsters (but could also be used in a reverse fashion at times as well). So yeah, Enemy Controller HAD its moments to shine, most definitely before Duel Links.

Really enjoyed this Top 10 being a Duel Links RU-vidr. Honestly hard to argue with any of the cards on your list, and glad someone with a decent grasp on the game; especially as a casual player looking in on the meta their facing, was able to tackle this rather than those who clearly have 0 understanding of what's going on in DL :D It's going to be interesting seeing people's comments, especially those who aren't fans of DL because some of these picks sound outright ridiculous to TCG players, but that's what I love about DL. It's such a different format, that anything can happen. Looking forward to more DL content from you, if that's what your dedicated viewers want!

Would disagree with ECon, Treacherous Trap Hole and Hey, Trunade. Econ has seen a ton of play in multiple formats, some as recent as last year. -Treacherous Trap Hole saw play in decks that used Rafflesia in their first turn board as a quick eff destroy two- my bad, should’ve finished the video before commenting. Hey, Trunade is a little disingenuous as 1) it hasn’t been that long since it came out and it’s a format dependent card, 2) it has actually seen play, for example in some decks that topped YCS Niagara this past weekend and 3) it’s actually a pretty good card, it just has a huge amount of competition in terms of great backrow removal.
@RetroMaticGamer
@RetroMaticGamer 4 года назад
14:26 Whoa, hold on there - Enemy Controller wasn't niche at all in 2003-2004. It was HOT AS HELL during the Sheep Control era. It was one of the most versatile cards imaginable in a meta full of Creature Swap shenanigans, letting you control what your opponent could take by getting your boss off the field, or at least switching the bait they're sending you back to Defense Mode to keep you alive. It was one of few good responses to Spirit Reaper, which most decks were teching in as a defensive wall, since it kills itself whenever any effect targets it. And half the decks in the meta ran Jinzo, preventing most traps from being viable, so quick-play spells like EC were worth their weight in gold. It was pretty much a staple for the entire duration of the first banlist. Then it came back real hard a few years later, with Treeborn Frog's introduction in the Monarch era... OUCH. "Never saw play" my ass! "DO NOT CITE THE OLD MAGIC AT ME, WITCH! I WAS THERE WHEN IT WAS WRITTEN!"

Duel Links sadly only has Radiant and Drowning Mirror force which are more situational but useful in some decks. Also Treacherous Trap Hole is alot more flexible in decks that banish from grave (like Fur Hire) or for anyone using Odion with the skill Endless Trap Hell (if you have 3 traps in GY add 1 card from your GY randomly to the hand and shuffle the rest of the traps in your GY into your deck). These strategies can use Treacherous Trap Hole whenever they want by emptying the graveyard of all their traps whenever they draw into Treacherous. On the subject of Fur Hires, They are a entire archetype that is terrible in the TCG but good in Duel Links. Bad TCG archetypes being good in Duel Links sounds like another list though (One I would actually like to see since I use these lists to gauge what good and bad card effects look like as a means of teaching myself good deck building techniques since I don't have much of a local yugi oh scene and only a few friends who casually play Duel Links).
@luminous3558
@luminous3558 5 лет назад
Pretty sure simply resolving one treacherous should be game. Fur Hires might be terrible for todays standards but they wouldve torn the meta a new one in GX-Synchro era, as would most modern archetypes. Also fur hires cant really scoop to a single handtrap if there are no handtraps around.

In addition, Enemy Controller is an excellent counter against Cyber Angel Dakini, which used to be used a lot in Ranked Duels. If you activate Enemy Controller when Cyber Angel Dakini's summoned, you can tribute one of your monsters and take control of Dakini. After that, Dakini's effect resolves, forcing you to send one of your monsters to the graveyard. Since Dakini is one of your monsters at that time, you can use its own effect to send it to the graveyard.

This video needs a part 2 with all the cards that have been added A few of my personal faves: - Number 70: Malevolent Sin is a Rank 4 staple - Invoked Cocytus got banned for being such a pain to beat over - Neos Fusion was basically Foolish Burial - Give and Take is Limited 1 for being used to give people Ra’s Disciple (often in tandem with the aforementioned Neos Fusion) Also Woodland Sprite def deserved a spot on this list, I’m guessing not many people even knew about it in the actual game, meanwhile in Duel Links it was one of the original FTK enablers with the Bamboo Sword engine

This is why I love duel links. Gets rid of all the crazy op cards and tries to keep the game from being a race for an OTK. Even the best cards in Duel Links almost NEVER see competitive play. When you're a broke amateur just starting out who can't afford to tear open box after box of real cards, Duel Links is a good alternative.

While Hey Trunade hasn’t seen much play, it’s not a bad card, it’s format dependent and it’s currently probably one of the best formats for it. It was in some decks that topped at YCS Niagara. Right now, Sky Strikers is meta, Altergeist is rogue and might see even more play as a counter to Thunder Dragons, even Paleo might make a comeback with that top at Niagara. All three are backrow decks. We might just see Hey, Trunade being played at least in the side. Another big thing stopping it is just that there’s just a lot of choice in terms of backrow removal in the TCG. Hey, Trunade is one of so many choices.

@SirEmanon
@SirEmanon 5 лет назад
Gouki didn't use it, but back in Zoo format, it was one of the defining cards in the mirror match, since you can take opposing Zoo monsters and overlay your own on top of them. Similarly, right now, Sky Striker is actually pretty similar, as players are siding Enemy Controller/Mind Control to take control of opposing Link monsters, and replace them with their own while dodging Raye.

I have to disagree with the current disliking of trap cards, they are an interesting mechanic that is severely underappreciated. I don't care if they are slow; it is my gimmick where i go to casually play. my best deck is loaded with them.
@brianaguilar8283
@brianaguilar8283 5 лет назад
Pusher sadly, a lot of meta decks in modern Yugioh don’t use Trap cards because they’re too slow and a lot of them are trying to OTK, that’s how powercrept the game has become, where Trap cards are just a waste of Deck space. Trickstars are the only meta deck that reliably use Trap cards only because they have the broken Trickstar Reincarnation.

Sidenote: some people still played treacherous trap hole in trap heavy decks if they were using odion because the skill (endless trap hell) allowed you to add 1 random trap (sometimes being treacherous if you could get its effect off early) to your hand and the rest gets added to the deck even though it says add 1 trap to the deck, giving you a trap empty graveyard.

Cup of Ace was used in FTKs back when Chicken Game was legal - and that Deck was an 89% win rate if you go first and your opponent doesn't draw Effect Veiler or Hanewata (the only hand traps at the time that were capable of stopping the FTK). It was also used back when Frog FTK won worlds (which was a fun time). So I'd say that puts it as a card that once saw a good amount of play. And Enemy Controller saw lots of play to the point where I believe it was once semi-limited in the regular card game, though that might've been in the OCG - I can't remember now. It's a very old card with a very good effect for defense and finishing the opponent off - if they have one big monster, put it in defense and run over it with your monsters next turn. If they have lots of monsters, tribute one of your own to steal their biggest card and end their Battle Phase. If you're attacking, you can play it to take game just like you do in Duel Links. Other than that, I agree with every card on this list, though I can't say I didn't see most of them coming.

Treacherous Trap Hole saw consistent play in tier 1 decks like PePe when Rafflesia was released in BOSH, until the Guiding Ariadne variant was discovered. Enemy Controller has seen consistent play for the past few years, including today in Sky Striker decks as an out to Thunder Dragon Colossus, and was even a staple in the recent Zoodiac format to play around My Body as a Shield.
