I LOVE doing this and it is a passion of mine:) My hubby and I grew up in York, PA, the county west of Lancaster but didn’t really appreciate all the amazingness of it till we moved out of state! I love Stewed tomatoes from Dienner’s too! They have those stewed tomatoes on the breakfast menu also. I will even put them on scrambled eggs with some mushrooms and cheese it’s awesome!

just returned from lancaster. i too have a blueberry “addiction”. picked up a few blueberry fry pies from kaufman’s on 340. crazy how good they were. best wishes , jim.

The next time you’re at Bird In Hand Farmers Market please try the Betsy Lantz’s Hot Sweet mustard. I’m not a mustard fan, nor am I a spicy fan (my tummy is not happy with spice these days) but this mustard is such a winner for me. I’ve placed several orders for it when I can’t get to Lancaster. Perfect on soft pretzels, ham on rye sandwiches and chicken nuggets.
Oooo! I love getting food advice! I will absolutely try that mustard next time I’m there! I LOVE Kitchen Kettle Village and specifically their jam and jelly shop. Pre-covid, I loved going into their store and sampling all those sauces and jams and spreads - everything is delicious there!!! My video on Kitchen Kettle village is not great - pretty basic of just walking around and showing the shops (no recommendations or anything). But each video is a learning experience 🤓🤩😁

Hi Jimmy:) So glad you and your wife enjoyed the video! It's one of my favs since it's all about Lancaster FOOD!! So, I checked up on you question about Peanut Butter Pie. I called The Bird-in-Hand Bakery & Cafe (their Restaurant opens back up on Feb. 4th) and they said they will make Peanut Butter Cream Pie sometimes but you should call the day before and they will make it for you/have it there. Shady Maple said they didn't have it (which really surprised me) but they recommended 2 places. One was Yoder's Restaurant (which is also a market) and they DO offer it (and they offer chocolate peanut butter pie which I will be trying next time I go!). Shady Maple also suggested Sunnyside Pastries but I didn't find anything on their website about PBP. Let me know what you choose and how you like it! Have a great time during your visit!!!
I love going to Bird in Hand every year on vacation! The food is amazing and your review is spot on! You mentioned some of my favorite foods - My #1 favorite would be the ham balls - so good! The pretzels melt in your mouth and don’t forget to get a glass of the homemade lemonade at the same time. Two other favorites are the hot bacon dressing as well as the corn chowder soup from Bird in Hand Family Restaurant. And a visit to Lapps Valley Farm is a must for the peanut butter swirl ice cream in a freshly made waffle cone. I’m looking forward to trying to Katie’s on my next trip there. I’ve heard great things about it
Debbie these are amazing suggestions!! You planned out a pretty perfect day of eating ☺️😍👍🍦👌. I’ve heard often about the BIH hot bacon dressing and yep u can’t beat their ham balls!! Which pretzels and homemade lemonade are r referring to?? I do love corn chowder - u can’t get that where I live so it’s so nice to have it when we visit!! I hope to visit Lapps when I go there in a few weeks but I have had their ice cream at the Kitchen Kettle Village and it was AMAZING!! I’m a sucker for peanut butter ice cream especially if it is accompanied by chocolate 😆😊😉. Thanks for commenting!!
Thank you! The pretzels and lemonade are from the Countryside Roadstand - what a great place! 3 pretzels for $5.00 and $1.00 for the lemonade! A visit to the actual Lapp Dairy Farm is fun - lots of cows to visit while you’re there. We love Miller’s for dinner and we tried Yoder’s for dinner and it was good also - they had great brisket on the grill the night we were there and if you ask for their hard ice cream you won’t be disappointed. I love stewed tomatoes and Lima beans also at any of the restaurants. (our favorite restaurant is the Bird in Hand Family Restaurant) Another good spot is the Bird in Hand Bake Shop on Gibbons Rd - they have yummy baked goods and while there you can visit their billy goats and the gift shop.

Tourism is a big part of Lancaster’s economy- I imagine a lot of businesses are glad us non-locals are springing their delicious tourist’s traps 😂👍 You locals are very privileged to have so many choices outside your door! But if u have eatery recommendations, you are welcome to list them ☺️
