The reality is that Portland has riots almost EVERY weekend. That isn't false. I lived here my whole life. I live in Vancouver and Commute Downtown. Also traffic is horrible bad road planning. Once you get away from Downtown and Gresham area it is very Beautiful.

I appreciate the opinion/perspective and totally hear you. I spent the first 25 years of my life in the Tulsa and OKC areas-very conservative southern/midwest cities that have much higher violent crime, poverty, worse education systems, and frankly less to do-but a fraction of homeless population and little to protest/riot/extremist activity, and wayy less property crime. Essentially the inverse of PDX or Seattle. I personally think Portland is such a safe, well designed city for its size and recent growth (roads and city infrastructure so much better up here compared to the south/Midwest imo-but will agree the traffic itself sucks but I do transit so don’t have to really deal with it) so a lot of it really is dependent on personal opinion, experience, and perspective. I live downtown and personally feel so much safer here in downtown PDX than I did in downtown Tulsa or OKC, which are a quarter the size of metro Portland. But every place has its issues and Portland is certainly no exception! I typically find that born and raised Oregonians/Portlanders are the ones who have experienced all of the change and inherently are the most unhappy with the current state of the city. It totally makes sense so I get where you’re coming from-I have a very new perspective so def coming from a different frame of thought.

hey bro i used to live there 20 years ago too and it was beautiful( as per my mom since i was small lol) but im planning on moving back for higher education but lots of people are saying stuff like now it has highest crime rate, bad roads, bad infrastructure, economy is falling etc etc also idk how the universities are over there, can you guide me since you have been living there?

@@SamAIMS Hi Sam….I’m not sure about specific statistics, but to me the city feels just as safe now as it was when I first moved here 20 years ago. I’ve always felt safe in Pittsburgh. I’m sure there are areas I avoid, and it is a city so you need to pay attention, but I don’t have any issues. There are far worse cities in the country with respect to crime and safety. If you come for school, most of the schools are in great locations and you shouldn’t have any problems. Economy seems to continue to be doing well from my perspective as well, new startups, robotics, health sciences, etc. There is still a lot of great construction in the works, new building projects, new neighborhood developments, etc. Infrastructure is what you’d expect in PA, there are potholes and crappy roads, but nothing that would prevent me from living here. There are always people out there that see all the negatives, and like to complain. To me, none of the negatives of the area outweigh the positives. It once again was ranked as one of the most livable cities in the country (#26 out of 100 on US News I believe), big enough to be a big city, while small enough not to have all the insane traffic, rude people, and craziness of other cities. People are kind and friendly, great culture, awesome walkable neighborhoods with some great character (not just the huge multi lane car centric areas like other American cities), good food, great outdoors activities if you like to bike, walk (good hiking nearby and skiing in the winter), plus has sports, museums, and a fun night life. I’m sure there are areas that can be improved, but I really enjoy being here. The last thing I’ll say is that I came here for higher education initially, had a great time, and never left. Good luck in your decision.

Pittsburgh winters are pretty mild to me, but I'm from the upper midwest. Winter is good to keep the crime reasonable. I lived in the south and wasn't a fan of the constant crime.

I live in kck and the only issue with kc the mo side where you're at is the crime rate.

Well the other half of the city is a nightmare.

Kansas City MO isnt the best city, especially with the crime, but Overland Park KS is a great suburb

2 very similar cities, but also both so different. Definitely 2 of the most underrated cities in the US in my opinion

Pittsburgh is leagues ahead of Philly as the best City in Pennsylvania, it’s far less crowded and overall a very clean and architecturally interesting city (compared to when it was an industrial hub at least). Plus it’s got one of the largest collections of Dinosaur Fossils in the world

@@FromHeretoThere Pittsburgh is underrated. If you are reffering to Portland, Oregon I would hardly call it "underrated". If anything it is a very well known medium sized city and certainly isnt undiscovered with a median home price of over 500k.

I visited every major city in Texas over Summer, and to be honest, Austin was my least favorite. 1) Dallas 2) San Antonio 3) Houston 4) Austin

@@duffal0 I’ve visited Austin once and stayed overnight before a cruise trip and either I stayed in a really bad area or the city just is horrible. From what I remember, there was homeless people everywhere even in the hotel, the hotel quality was horrible and I’ve just heard bad things about it.

Texas in general in changing a lot and not for the better kids getting kidnapped everyday and people getting murdered more and more cops being more antagonistic with everyone they meet and it’s getting pretty damn expensive and if you don’t have an education you’ll never make it in a city out here idk I live Texas it’ll always be home to me but it just seems like it’s not the same Texas anymore it’s turning into a worse California and fast

when I went to pittsburgh the city LITERALLY felt like a huge hidden gem, the entire downtown is surrounded by huge hills and a big lake. a super unique city

I'm from Monroe, Michigan, but I moved to Houston back in 2016. You're right about the weather. It is very humid here, so the summers feel way hotter. It is nice being warmer during winter, although I miss seeing the snow. Also, did you notice the air or overall feeling in Michigan felt really nice and just unique?

Yeah, summer in Central Texas can be unrelenting. The heat literally lasts half the year, or more. At least the winters are nice and mild, even though locals act like they have the worst winters in the country, lol.

Austin is great if you write code or sell SaaS, but it’s tough to find a well paying job in any other industry. My friends who are mechanical engineers get better pay in Houston or DFW and my wife and I are leaving Austin for Dallas based on my logistics career.

Yes!! I'm a Cincinnati native, recently moved away to a "top ten cities you should live in" city, and all I can say is how much I appreciate my home now. There's really nothing the city doesn't have! INCREDIBLE bar scene (OTR and Banks), music (Riverbend & Bogarts), museums, Kings Island (one of the only amusement parks with a gigacoaster and multiple record breaking coasters), award winning Cincinnati Zoo, arts, great colleges, the cost of living to wages ratio, beautiful skyline, sports ( Reds, Bengals, Cyclones), great nature parks around the Tri State... yeah. I'd say you made a great choice with Cincinnati!! Im surprised its not on these lists.

Klaipėda - Port of Lithuania, worth a visit + Kaunas second biggest City in Lithuania, as Vilnius is International, Kaunas is mostly Lithuanians, and also plenty to see. Traveling to Lithuania make sure you visit all these three, its only a good 300 km in between and you be sure you witnessed the real beauty, history and business environment of Lithuania.
