Top 10 cartoon theme songs from the 80's 

Cartoon network needs to bring back these cartoons like now. Who agrees with me?

Our cartoons had full soundtracks. You'd almost tune into a cartoon for the theme songs as much as the show.

No G.I. Joe, No Transformers, No Thundercats, No He-Man and the Masters of the Universe how can this ever be considered the top ten cartoon theme songs from the '80's

No Ulysses 31... No Thundercats... no He-Man.... No Transformers... just what kind of list is this?!

Best recipe for an 80's theme: take some new wave electronics, add a hair metal guitar, and sung by a Kenny Loggins impersonator and that's the stuff. This list rules and it nailed it. There were more distinctive tv shows and better animation out there, but this is about theme songs, specifically 80'S THEME SONGS. These are the best.

what I love about 80s cartoon theme tunes is the vocals I mean these guys really went for it. power ballad and rock vocals. God damn I wish I was young again.

Wow, I remember these shows! I watched them all back in the 80s! I remember playing with my MASK toys. Being a kid in the 1980s was so much fun.

This was supposed to be a top 10, right? Ummm, so what happened to Thundercats, The Real Ghostbusters..., did I mention Thundercats?! The 80's cartoons really were all about the soundtracks though. And, why is it that the animation production values were awesome for the intros but the episodes themselves (Anime excluded) looked crappy, especially after the first season or so?

There is a LOT to choose from, so making a Top 10 list for 80s cartoon theme songs is going to be very difficult. I applaud the list overall, and I'm especially happy with your top 2. The JatWW theme has been in my head for two-and-a-half decades ever since I saw the reruns waaaaaay back in fourth grade.

I always thought that the singer for spiral zone sounded like Randy Marsh from South Park

The intro's on these 80's cartoon's are so good, beautiful animation and great intro tunes. It's pretty impressive to me.

Damn. This was uploaded in March 2007? That was before the 7-7-07 live concert. That was a really fun and laid back time in my life. got my first laptop around April 2007 and I was a year in community college. As for this video, I was born in 1986 and never knew about any of these shows.

Thanks for the upload, I cannot recall if i have comment on this being on youtube for 5 years now off and on it gets a lil foggy, but i have seen this video many, many times. you know what, everytime i have watched this video, I have been tempted to find and download the theme for galaxy rangers series, sounds kinda like a real song, I like that most about tv themes, like the ones you have featured here, is when you hear them can imagine hearing it be played on a radio...

Wow... That just put me back in touch with A LOT of my childhood there. Modern cartoons really do lack the Anthem Rock intros of my generation.

This is one of the things I miss about cartoons now adays. I mean, you just listen to the guys singing the intros, and they're really getting into it, just sets you up for epicness

How the hell can you not include C.O.P.S, GI Joe, Transformers, He-Man and Gummie Bears?! Man, I miss all those awesome 80's cartoons. Some of them were cheesy as hell, but so, so much better than most of the crap cartoons kids today like. Care Bears, Space Ghost, Rainbow Bright, Strawberry Shortcake, TMNT, Fraggle Rock, Fat Albert, The Thundercats, Voltron, Alvin and the Chipmunks. The list just goes on and on! Think I just might have to spend a few hours on my next day off checking out You Tube and Netflix to see which ones I can find to watch!

I would count this as more of an obscure Top 10. I was usually parked in front of the TV as a kid and had only heard of a few of these shows. Cool list, though. Was kind of surprised not to see the C.O.P.S. theme show up.

This list is about the actual quality of the theme song, not popularity. And on that front I think it's very successful.

Transformers, Robotech, GI Joe and Mask ruled every boys attention back then. Ulysses 31 was underrated. I think it was a bit too mature and complicated for kids back then but i liked it cos it was different and had a sense of epic feeling behind it. The visuals and fusion of greek mythology and space were very appealing to me.

I member every last one of these & had most of the toys too, good times.
