The performance by David Freese should be #1. He came out of nowhere to have, arguably, the greatest postseason performance of all time. He won game 6, and tied game 7.
1996 50th Anniversary - College World Series, ... final game, ...final inning, ...final out, ... down by one in bottom of 9th! After rehabbing from wrist surgery for much of the season, Warren Morris (LSU) hit his one and only home run of the season for a come from behind win over Miami. Not only top 10, but perhaps CANDIDATE FOR TOP SPOT! The Miami players were inconsolable. Unbelievable if it were a movie script!
Steve Kerr was a better clutch moment than MJ. Not that MJ doesn't deserve recognition but he was always great in the clutch. he thrived on the clutch. Steve Kerr hit a game winner coming off the bench. His one and only chance to do so.
No mention of Jason Lezak in Beijing?? To come back from .6 seconds behind the world record holder in the 100 free, while he swims the third best relay split in history, if he doesn't do that, phelps doesn't win 8 golds, I guess you really have to understand swimming to know how big that was.
I think a lot of it is down to the Olympics being so fucky with their footage usage rules. If you watch some of the other bits on the top 10s, they usually don't show Olympic footage because of the rights issues. They had a set one of the top 10s of the Canadian Olympic hockey team winning gold in 2002, and also of the USA Miracle on Ice team, and they only showed still frames, I'm assuming because of nightmares with footage rights and such
should have two events from the 1982 NHL opening round playoffs, either the Islanders def Pittsburgh in game 5 after being down 3-1 with 6 mins left, or the Miracle on Manchester in that same year.
Love it ... Everybody and their .." what about " opinions. ...lol Might as well join in .. What about Olympic Women's Hockey 2010 or 2014 Gold Medal games.?? Or ... Sid's Golden goal.??
OneCleanByrd what? He hit a home run that was well past the wall. Its was in the grass patch at busch stadium. It would be physically impossible for anyone to have caught it as it went 30-40 feet past the wall.
What about Flutie to Phelan? How about Keith Smart Buzzer Beater to win NC in basketball? The Immaculate Reception? Santonio Holmes in Super Bowl. There are many others but -- the greatest sports moment in my life--the Miracle On Ice; that whole team was the clutch performance of my life. Historically--the greatest is Jesse Owens in 1936--his performance in Berlin is the greatest clutch performance in recorded memory.
Lol what about Aguero?? Literally scored one of the most clutch goals in history and also Jason Lezach when he came back in the Beijing olympics from almost a full length behind in the last turn.
Not debating how big Carters and Gibsons homers were. But Mazerowski hit the only game 7world series walk off in the history of baseball. How is that not above those two?
WOW at #4.....how many future stars can you get in one clip?? Jordan Eberle scores with 3 seconds left on the assist from John Tavares, and at the end hes mobbed by PK Subban.......what, was Crosby off that day??
I'll come right out and say it, I am a red sox fan...but how can anyone honestly make a top 10 clutch performance list and not include the king of clutch, David "Big Papi" Ortiz???
'Scuse me? No "Bird steals the ball!"? Not one Tom Brady Super Bowl moment? Not one Big Papi walk-off? No Bobby Orr? No Pudge Fisk waving the ball fair? No Doug Flutie Hail Mary??? ESPN has been and always will be full of shit.
Francisco Cabrera's RBI in the bottom of the 9th of the 1992 NLCS should at least be top five. Coming back from a 2-0 deficit to send the Braves to their second consecutive World Series
Gotze to win the World Cup, Maradona against England, Iniesta's CL winning goal, Lewandowski 5 goals in 9 minutes, but I guess you don't care about football outside of the UK
