There is nothing like local commercials especially for car dealerships. Hands down you'll find nothing better. They just seem to have this innate ability to make both the worst, and simultaneously best advertising on the planet. One that comes to mind for me within my neck of the woods is the local car ads for Billy Fuccillo (Rest in peace brother) with the simple tag line of 'HUGGGEEEEE'. I kind of love in a way that it still is an earworm in my head to this day, even years after I stopped watching television.

Okay so the Orangina thing is interesting because their gimmick is that it's SO GOOD that it can sell even in other commercial formats. So they advertise as deodorant or aftershave or what have you, before wrapping up with a disclaimer not to sue for false advertising because it's a beverage

As always, I forgot one thing: I'd like to add that in my opinion, Japanese commercials are among the craziest, but they are also extremely fun to watch. Lots of them have impressive creativity that is either terrifying or mesmerizing. Or both.

The Shiny Suds commercial was more of a PSA than an actual commercial, because : 1 - psas strike the feeling of being uncomfortable 2 - psas promote something for environment or health 3 - psas usually have text at the end telling you about something 4 - psas tell you about the negatives

Ok, hear me out on this. That "Deal-Tastic Me" commercial was actually pretty wholesome. I would even call it blessed. It brought a smile to my face. Not cursed at all.

As a student of marketing, what gets talked about alot is ads being memorable. A lot of these ads are certainly memorable, but for cringy/disturbing/questionable reasons. I’m shocked they even made it past the planning stages. 😅

JTs car shops are based on my hometown of Columbia SC, can’t tell you how many of those ads we get on a daily basis. My dad actually knows JT,, apparently he’s a really calm, shy, and down to earth guy,, you’d never be able to tell from the commercials

The tiny babies commercial actually made me cry. I really hope that didn’t air for too long because I imagine it was very triggering to any mothers of children with critical birth defects. I understand the message, they did it well and I’m not mad at them for it, I just feel like there are more tasteful ways to get the point across. The only commercials that are supposed to make you cry are those Thai life insurance commercials.

Okay, we had some weird ads 🤣And the ones where they din't drink the orangina but use it as products, was just the company memeing on those constantly appearing ads at this period of time, and I have to admit.... the sillyness worked very well, and I wouldn't be surprised if those ads awakened many furrys in my country, seeins how prominent they were on TV 🤣 (PS, I was a child when those existed and aired on TV, made me laugh)

That gecko suicide commercial has plagued my entire life. I've only seen it once on TV on some Spanish channel when I was 5 and cried so hard my parents kicked me out of their room. Ever since then I've been scared of little geckos and refuse to stay in any room that has a crack in the ceiling. For the longest time I didn't know the name and convinced myself it was some weird fever dream I thought was real so thank you for proving to me that I was not crazy and giving 5 year old me some peace.

I'm a little bit late to the party but the funny thing to me is that Orangina is actually good. I have no idea why they did these commercials but the actual product tastes pretty good. Them doing these commercials seems so unhinged that I can't help it but laugh out loud whenever I see them. (German here, we sometimes get Orangina in our stores, I imagine every time the company made a deal with a certain convenience store chain.)

The add with the unicorns singing about poop is for a toy that my younger sister got for her birthday. When the other people at her birthday party saw it they were already pretty confused. It got even more concerning when my younger sister pressed a button on its belly and the unicorn started singing the ENTIRE SONG from the commercial

Dolly's commercial have been around for ages and they never, EVER change. Every year they show the same animation with the same songs. Its beem the exact same since I was a kid

Saber! The possessed pony commercial is actually for a car brand here in Brazil. In the commercial the dude was driving the car and it gets stuck in the mud or something like that, and he opens the hood of the car to find a bunch of little ponies running inside (because the joke was that cars usually have horsepower, but this guy's car was so bad that it had ponies). The commercial was a hit and people were always referencing it and singing the "pony song". The possessed pony you see on the video wasn't in the commercial, but on a online video the brand released, inspired by those chain emails where if you didn't share with at least x people, you were getting the curse of the ponies and they were going to slow down your car. Bold marketing decision but it worked at the time.

My iron is on one, and I've been barely getting sleep, and I've gotten so uncomfortable to the point that I wanted to rip my skin off, but these ads made me way more uncomfortable then that.

Okay, there's a thing I desperatly need to say: You know that bottle thing he used as an example? Let me elaborate on that. Okay, where do I start? here in Brazil, where I was born and live, we have this soda brand called "Dolly". It's kind of a low-quality brand, and the most iconic thing about them is their commercials. They have this mascot called "Dollynho" (Little Dolly), which looks unintentionally awful, but they insist it's cute, and has this *really* bad voice acting, that sounds like a nightmare. Basically, they fill brazilian TV with these awfully animated commercials that consist in Dollynho singing and dancing with children. They have about 3 standard commercials, and a lot of holiday themed ones they play every year repeatedly. A christmas one (featuring a green Santa Claus), a Mother's Day one, a Father's Day one, an Easter one, and God knows what more. Here in Brazil their commercials are used as jokes and memes frequently, due to their terrible quality and cursed mascot. And yes, he looks like a pedo for us too. So, that's it, I just needed to point that out since this is the first time I see anyone outside of Brazil talking about Dollynho, and I thought you guys might like this little not fun fact.

Everything is so sexualized and creepy. Imagine being a little kid innocently watching cartoons and one of those ads comes on, you would have A LOT of questions for your parents after that. "Mom why is the green soda can making that face? Dad why are those animals dancing like that? Why is that lady looking at that cookie like that?" And what would you say as the parent? I have absolutely no idea.

in Sweden we used to have this TV show called "Ads from all over the World" (or more literal "All World Ads") which was a TV show where the host showed any "weird" ads from anywhere in the world (but mostly Japan).
