@JuliusC1973
@JuliusC1973 2 года назад
He would have been a First Ballot Hall of Famer in either Sport. You could argue whether he would have passed Walter Payton, Barry Sanders and Emmet Smith or he would have passed Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron and Barry Bonds?
@chocolatetownforever7537
@chocolatetownforever7537 Год назад
@@JuliusC1973 What are you talking about? He would have done NONE of those things lol. Great player, but he was more into baseball, and actually wasnt available to play football the entire season, because of his contract with the Royals. Say he dedicated himself to one sport only. It were baseball, he might have had a shot at the HOF, but passing Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron? HIGHLY unlikely. He hit 30 homers ONCE. Had he only played football, he WOULD have made the HOF, and may have had a chance at any and every record. That being said, to get and keep that record from Emmitt Smith, he has to reach 18,500 yards. As good as Bo was as a runner, thats 18 years of 1000 yards a season lol. He would have done it in fewer, sure, but youre still looking at 14 years EASY, to keep that record from Emmitt. I dont think Bo would have played that long had he stayed healthy. Bottom line great player in both, and maybe the best athlete of all time, but lets not get crazy here about him being the GOAT in both sports. Wasnt gonna happen.
@justinlast2lastharder749
@justinlast2lastharder749 10 месяцев назад
I don't really know. I think the "What If" was really more "What if he played one of the other?" for Bo. Playing both hurt his legacy in both. Even Deion couldn't do it forever and had to choose eventually. Mark Prior or Jose Fernandez are the biggest two Baseball What Ifs for me.

@@tylerjerabek5204I have quite a few devastating departures to add to this list: * Bobby Layne being traded to the Steelers (this flushed the Detroit Lions' fortunes down the toilet) * The Cardinals moving to St. Louis, drawing the curtain on 40 years of the Bears-Cardinals rivalry in Chicago * Cleveland firing their namesake, founder, head coach and GM Paul Brown (who went on to found the Cincinnati Bengals six years later) * St. Louis losing two teams (the Cardinals moving to Phoenix, and the Rams moving back to LA) * The Houston Oilers moving to Nashville and becoming the Tennessee Titans (so far, the Texans have not filled that void) And I disqualify Bill Belichick's 24 hour stint as Jets head coach, given the franchise has been in the basement for years (and a mad Jets fan said that Bill made the right call). Also, I agree with the top two, but my list has them the other way around: * My number two was Baltimore - they subsequently recieved the Ravens in 1996, and the Ravens won the Super Bowl before the Indianapolis Colts did, while the Colts were also a lousy team for over 15 years: basically, the football Gods went "Bob Irsay, for moving the Colts, your team will be failures for the rest of your days." * My number one was Cleveland - they went into recess for three years, and the Browns' temporarily last game saw fans wantonly looting the stadium and setting parts of it on fire, with owner Art Modell needing a 24-hour armed police guard for the rest of the season after he announced The Move.

Belichick's treatment by Modell and the abuse he endured coaching the Browns after Modell's announcement cemented some fundamental Belichick principles and had a profound effect on various franchises going forward. It taught Belichick how critical ownership and team control was. He resigned from the Jets on a napkin because of the post-Hess ownership uncertainty. He looked on in knowing displeasure as Mangini went to work for the Jets and Browns. He had no problem letting Patricia go coach the Lions after the Patriots defense got smoked by Philly in the SB. He didn't have a meltdown when Flores went to a division opponent (Dolphins) because he knew Flores would be working for Stephen Ross. He asked Josh McDaniels if he really wanted to take the Colts job and work for Jim Irsay. He must have laughed to himself when his former alma mater then nemesis the Giants hired Joe Judge. It's no coincidence that Mike Vrabel, one of the rare Belichick disciples to have success in the coaching ranks, works for Amy Adams Strunk, one of the better owners in the league.

No reason to be salty when the city of Baltimore was trying to steal the team from Irsay through imminent domain (going to court the very morning after the move and had police trying to block some of the trucks through the night) but then turns around and takes the Browns from Cleveland. @acharleyhorse1
@acharleyhorse1 5 лет назад
@@clutchthepearls3062 First of all, it is eminent domain, not imminent domain. It was a last ditch effort, as it was imminent that Irsay was going to move. He ran the franchise into the ground. He was flying to Pheonix , Tampa, and other cities shopping the team around.. Baltimore did NOT just turn around and take another team. It was 13 years before the Brown s moved to Baltimore. If the NFL had given Baltimore a team like they did for Cleveland, there would have been no need. The NFL expanded in 1995 by two teams. Baltimore had the best offer on the table, but the NFL awarded teams to Charlotte and Jacksonville. Again, the NFL snubbed Baltimore. What were Baltimore's options. had they not gotten the Browns, they still would have no team. Should Baltimore play nice, and not have a team, while places like Jacksonville, a small market, have a team?? Would Cleveland not try to entice a team if they were not awarded a team? I don't think so.

I go with Belichick switching to the Patriots, simply because I started looking at the effects. Parcells was going to remain in charge of hiring and firing for the Jets, and he had already decided on Pennington as quarterback. The Patriots would never have drafted Brady if Belichick hadn't pushed for him, so somewhere in Northern California there would be an insurance salesman or stock broker who earned a good living, was married with kids, and played good amateur golf, but who never had a chance to play in the NFL. Thus, Peyton Manning would have won at least one or two more Super Bowls. Kurt Warner would have won at least one more Super Bowl. Drew Bledsoe would have remained with the Patriots for several more years, so he wouldn't have been available when Parcells moved to Dallas. So, by 2004 Parcells would have been looking for a new quarterback, which could have led to Dallas grabbing Eli Manning, or Philip Rivers, Drew Bledsoe, or even Roethlisberger. Parcells might have found a temporary fill-in, and then gone for Alex Smith or Aaron Rogers the next year. (You could never tell what Parcells would do). But he wouldn't have hired Tony Romo, who would have gone to the only other team that was interested in him, the Denver Broncos. I can't even begin to list the various players, coaches and owners who were affected by Brady and Belichick being in New England together. Randy Moss would have remained with the Raiders, other players would have had better or worse careers, coaches might or might not have had NFL careers, and would have remained in colleges. So, while all those moves had shattering effects on players, coaches and cities, those few words scribbled on the napkin led to profound changes in many careers.

Montana and Favre's departures were at the top of my list. Two of the biggest players at the QB position in NFL history. And the fact that both QBs started great team dynasties and rebirths made it even nore impactful when they were out
@Matt-cr4vv
@Matt-cr4vv 3 месяца назад
I probably feel worse for Montana than Favre but the teams deciding to move on from both made sense even if it sucks that the players exited that way. It sucks for Joe when you look at his final three seasons as the Niners starter before he got hurt. It would suck to win two superbowls and the final two seasons starting to be the MVP and then be injured prior to the next season that kept him out for basically two entire seasons. It sucks to lose a job because you got hurt but when the replacement was just the MVP you can’t blame them for going with him over the 37 year old who’s been hurt for two seasons. With Brett it sucked but at the same time he was always leaving them in mystery about whether he was returning or not and the final year they had asked for him to make his call early over leaving them in mystery until right before the season as he had been. But in the end it’s almost impossible to win because eventually you have to move on from the 39 year old when you have someone like Rodgers waiting for his shot. It just would’ve been nice if they’d been able to agree to move on in the spring and done so on good terms.
@Matt-cr4vv
@Matt-cr4vv 3 месяца назад
In the end it’s a hard thing to do because while you want to let those guys go out how they want but at some point in time you can’t put everything on hold forever if the legend doesn’t want to leave. I think with the Packers the split could have been cleaner if both sides had just been more honest with each other, namely the Packers with Brett. I think it would’ve been doable if the packers had simply told him that they wanted to move on to Aaron but they’d let Brett have one final season in Green Bay if he was ready to fully commit by March. And when he had told them he was leaning towards wanting to play but wasn’t ready to fully commit to that if they would have offered to him that if he was leaning to playing that they’d be willing to give him a release so that if he chose later on that he did want to play he could go to a team of his choosing or at worst doing that when he returned instead of trading him. But I think he was planning to go to the Vikings then too so hard to say.

It's true only on paper. Officially the Ravens are an expansion team. But everyone who remembers knows what really happened.

Rowdy Jr. the team was basically stolen. Modell’s “expansion team” was allowed to steal the Browns. Fortunately for Cleveland, they didn’t steal Bill Belichick as well, although Brian Billick did win that one SB which sucks for Cleveland, imagining the Ravens defense coached by Belichick is a much worse outcome for Cleveland, as it’s very possible the Ravens would have won multiple Super Bowls with Belichick. After all Belichick did essentially draft Ray Lewis.

Hold up. How is T.O. here and Rice not? Rice could still play, as seen when he went to another Superbowl with the Raiders and had 2 of his best seasons and his last game as a 49er was the game that Owens broke the record for most catches in a game. It wasn't time for Jerry to leave. It was time to get A QB who could use Rice And Owens together instead of trying to use T.O. to make Garcia look good. How the greatest being to touch a football EVER didn't retire from the team that he did so much for is not on this list is blasphemy.

I have quite a few devastating departures to add to this list: * Bobby Layne being traded to the Steelers (this flushed the Detroit Lions' fortunes down the toilet) * The Cardinals moving to St.

@Harris Biden It was a lot more complex than that. Irsay was a drunk, and was extremely difficult to deal with. He would say one thing one day, and then deny he ever said it the next. \It was inevitable that they were going to move. Emminent Domain was a last ditch effort to prevent the inevitable.

@Rich Affinito Reid is a HOF coach. He's elite. Coming from a die-hard Eagles fan, realizing he never won a Super Bowl. He came within 3 points of winning it during the Pats peak of dynasty, while also cheating via Spygate. Not to mention, Reid gave us Peterson -- who in his second season won us the Super Bowl so many of us had been clamoring. I'm still relatively young, but I know old guys, who legit thought they'd die without ever seeing a Birds Super Bowl win. Reid, selflessly, recommended strongly Pederson to Jeffrey Lurie -- during the time when everyone thought Gase, Jackson, Koetter, etc. were seen as the elite.
@uncletom356

@Jack park First off, it literally is something that cannot be disproven. It can have shade thrown on it, but I don't even think that's happened. Secondly, it's not BS at all. A cheater who gets away with it never changes. Brady is the GOAT. We all know that. Belichick is just his Phil Jackson. Can develop some important players, but his job is to not get in the way of Brady. And still, Brady doesn't like him. Of course a d-bag like Belichick and the d-bag Brady will cheat . I think DeflateGate was blown out of proportion. I think it was ridiculous he was suspended more than a game or two, but it showed he wanted an edge and took it.
