The NES Classic Edition is such a faithful reproduction of its 30 built-in NES games, that all of the glitches and exploits of the original games still exist unaltered. In keeping with some of the Virtual Console releases of these titles, some features that never worked on the original cartridge versions were also "enhanced". Plus, Nintendo "fixes" a big problem with one of the game's manuals in digital form!

It’s true; the Classic only fills a certain niche. We’re going to compare and contrast to the RetroN 5 before too long.

That's why zelda 2 gets a bad rep from people who suck at it. I found ninja gaiden and batman alot harder. I finished it without game genie and it was rewarding. Better then number 1 imo. I have a hidef modded toploader and that's my goto system for play and streaming. I have a nes mini ordered but it will just be a display piece :) keep up the good work chaps

The most maddening part is losing progress toward leveling up. I (Sean) learned to do some grinding at Death Mountain, and then with those spiders so that you could use temples to top off your levels nearer the end game.

One thing you can't do on the NES classic Metroid is the "Engage Ridley..." password. Try it!
@dorisweingart9250
@dorisweingart9250 3 года назад
Thats because it was never a Password just the game basicly translated everything u put in code and executes it rather than working Like modern Password systems which are more like lookuptable . Which means this was just a Lucky Combination of Letters that have a rather glitchy effect ,Others more rnd looking Combos have the same effect

The 1:1 Pixel Perfect aspect ratio is not correct. The original pixels were non-square, so 1:1 square pixels makes the image too thin. It’s sharper and more like PC emulators, but it’s not correct for how they were originally.
@FamicomDojo
@FamicomDojo 6 лет назад
That’s true. Is it fair to say it’s closer...?
@emmettturner9452
@emmettturner9452 6 лет назад
Famicom Dojo I dunno. I think 4:3 is closer. Injecting a ROM with a test pattern would help!
@gabrieleriva651
@gabrieleriva651 6 лет назад
Famicom Dojo nope, the aspect ratio has always been 4:3.
@FamicomDojo
@FamicomDojo 6 лет назад
There’s a long, technical explanation that we recorded, but cut for the sake of brevity, suffice to say that the clip at 2:16 was meant to physically demonstrate that 4:3 is too wide. What is true about 4:3 is that it’s the total output of the video signal. However, the safe draw area is less wide than than (and only slightly less tall), so you end up with a monochrome fill-in background (like the lime green in the demonstrated Excitebike clip) that can change colors depending on the scene being rendered by the hardware. That’s not to say the NES couldn’t have output sprites to the full 4:3 area if they’d designed it that way, just that most televisions had actual physical coverings over the non-SAFe areas of the screen. Stuff like alternate audio (SAP) and close captioning are actually visually encoded in the video stream at the top of the image, and since that was usually outside the safe zone no one noticed, but later CRTs and HDTVs output the whole picture, to the screen without any impediments, so you’d see stuff like a bunch of lines zipping across the top handful of pixels on the image until HDTV signals became the norm. So the NES Classic, when it says 4:3, is stretching the safe, drawable area to the full 4:3 display area (including the unsafe zones), which is actually too wide. But since people don’t understand this and don’t want to see black bars on the sides (the Classic does not output the background color for the unsafe area, only black), the think this is correct. The “pixel perfect” option MIGHT indeed be too narrow, in that case. This seems like a great Denshimail topic. Thanks, everyone!

I dunno following the Arguments why u should pick new nes over old , it would make way more sense just to build ur own Emulator Box or just pick a rdy one,since ist cheaper,less limited in case of numbers of Games and Emu settings,even if u modify the new nes so it can carry more Games its still a more shitty Emu Box would rather use old nes for nostalgia and Emulator for eas of use and add.
