When I was a kid and played A-Team with my cousins they always forced me to be Murdock. Back then I got mad because I wanted to be one of the "cool ones", as I got older I realized Murdock was the coolest one of them all.
That is some seriously talented levels of impressions right there. The way Schultz so swiftly and completely switches from one character to the next and back is astounding.
Dwight Schultz has to be one of the most underrated actors of all time. He was ground breaking in the A team. I'm glad that borrowing the chopper scene is in here. That was my absolute favourite Murdock scene.
There are only a few of my favorites in here. The one where he disguises himself as the bride, then falls flat running away, is missing. I LOVE the one where BA goes catatonic. Dwight Schultz was brilliant in this role!
As a kid I never missed an episode when it aired. Thirty something years later, I still walk through the cleaning supplies aisle of the store, “I WANT SOME TRASH BAGS”!!!!
My favorite Murdock quote (among many classics) is from Season 2, Episode 8 "Labor Pains." As the team is making their getaway from crashing a jerk's party: Henchman: "You're nuts!" Murdock: "No, I'm not! I'm condiments! I've been promoted!"
So true not only refuse them when they're in trouble especially with the army what also help some travel across the world especially when they have to knockout BA L😆L
The A Team, Magnum, PI, The Incredible Hulk, Dukes of Hazzard, MacGyver, Amen, Family Ties, The Cosby Show, Hunter, The Equalizer, Hill Street Blues, Hart to Hart, Growing Pains, Who's The Boss, Golden Girls, Night Court and Moonlighting: The best eighties shows bar none!
I believe the episode was "Recipe for heavy bread", Murdock running down the road in a white wedding dress screaming "I'M A BIRD I'M A PLANE I'M A CHOO CHOO TRAIN!!!!!".
Love that Trash Bags was Number 1. I was in 6th grade when the A-Team came out and it was the most popular show by far with the boys. We almost got detention the day after this episode since we were all yelling "I want some trash bags!"
The glider plane scene is too hilarious.. The whole changes of each character acting improvisation is stunning.. At one point he says ' I mean I've seen some crazy guys in my time ' PROPER IRONIC HILARIOUS
As a kid I had BA's & Hannibal's autograph cause a family member worked on the sets, but I always wanted Murdoch's. He was always my favorite, the weirdo-funny guy... I love you man! ! !
I have always been in love with crazy characters and it's because of this guy right here 🤣 watched the reruns on tv when I was a kid and have been hooked ever since. I even have the exact replica of his jacket as proof of my love. His antics were some of the best parts of the whole show 😆
Then you will *ABSOLUTELY LOVE* Parker from the T.V. show Leverage, The original LEVERAGE (not redemption) always reminded me of a modern day A-Team with: MasterMind: John Hannibal /=/ Nathan Ford Muscle: B.A. Baracus /=/ Elliot Spencer Grifter: Templeton Peck (Face Man) /=/ Sophie Devereaux Hacker: AAA (Amy Allen) /=/ Hardison Crazy one: H.M. Murdock /=/ Parker
Totally agree! I also grew up watching this show (In Sweden in the 80's/90's) - Murdock was my favorite, and is in my opinion the most versatile, creative actor ever. I have even more respect for him now that I know he was forced to make up his own lines and "side characters" for many episodes in season 1, as they had written him out (producers didn't like him!!), but audience polls showed he was so liked by the audience, that they decided to keep him anyway - only he had no lines!
Best part of the A team! Murdock was either totally cracked or an exceptionally gifted actor....thanks to Mr Schultz ability one never could quite figure out which but it was fun trying!
I love all of these and “borrowing a chopper” is my current favorite, but I will always agree that “trash bags” is number one because now that worked with the plot was absolute genius and I died laughing the first time I watched that episode 😂
Actually a GENIUS.. So I was at home and turned on TV with all the 95% crap channels and came across The A Team.. And that was my delight down memory lane. Haven't watched an A Team episode for YEARS. I MEAN PROBABLY 20 YEARS. This was my childhood. And then late on in the evening in bed i decided to find other A Team series/clips and came upon this: Oh Heavens i just can't stop laughing because his acting and genius in these clips is PROPER PROPER GENIUS.. WHAT A LEGEND !!!!
Absolutely love Murdock! And Dwight! He played him so brilliantly. Don't know how he did it.Never known a character like Murdock in any tv series since. My favourite though, is his God Save The Queen scene & the 'sure, whatever you want' straight after. Love it. Wonder if, given the chance he could play Murdock again, just slip back into character. He did say he loves Murdock.
Hey there!, I've had the pleasure in meeting Dwight at Comic Con and I asked him (probably like countless others) if there was a chance in seeing him on the white screen again. He sadly responded that he would stick with voice overs D:. Not that I dont mind but I would like to see him on the big screen again :D.
I've always wondered if any of his performance was ad-lib that the director decided to use? I can't imagine anyone writing all his stuff, and there's the physical comedy!
I own the complete A-Team series!!! but still come over to You-tube for video's here too!!! Dwight's work has A timeless and endearing quality to it, the mans. Dwight had to be a man who had to have soul, and salt, and sand, in order to master a roll, but much more than a roll, a innate part of himself. Bless You, Dwight, and you body of work, which is only a part of your body of work, your contribution to mankind, so far in this world. Namaste, Kelly
I knew Trash Bags was gonna be number 1 😂. There was another really good one when Murdock was walking down the isle of a plan that he was supposed to be flying 😂🤣😭 hilarious
Everyone calls Murdock crazy but he was the smartest of them all. He was the guy who was in there for the laugh but did his job. Out of all of them, I imagine Murdock married to a super-model with 3 kids living on the beach somewhere... Don't ask me how he got there, he just did.
Some people get fired from their jobs because when their boss gets angry, they tell him, "If you have a problem, and no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A Team!"
Before watching, i’m hoping to see clips from the episode where he screamed for trash bags because they were making a hot air balloon. That scene is hilarious.
I don't think I appreciated the genius of The A-Team when I was a kid. Maybe, being autistic, I didn't understand it. But, at 60, I'm rollin' around on the floor at this. They don't make them like they used to. ( Dang, now I can't get "TERRASH BAGS, AH WAN TERRASH BAGS" outa my head!! )
My favorite has to be during the funeral scene of "The Big Squeeze." Murdock's on the organ and starts playing "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" in minor. It's not something you'd notice on your first viewing, but I absolutely loved it. I guess you could say the gag was... ...low-key.
You should have included the scene where he took the place of a bride-to-be in a forced marriage, and he's walking along in full attire and veiled, coughing the whole time cuz he tasted some shaving cream off a decoy cake the team used to sneak onto the grounds. I think the episode was called "For Better or For Worse". It was totally funny!
I watched every episode of this wonderful show and those two guys face & Murdock was a great team...face busting him out of the funny farm and we can’t forget about B.A. who couldn’t stand the antics of Murdock BUT let anybody but anybody cross Murdock and they would have to deal with him..people thinks that B.A. didn’t have a heart but WRONG he had the biggest heart in the world and that includes TODAY....
The only other person who could probably give Dwight Schultz some competition in the role for Murdock would have been Robin Williams. Glad Dwight got the role though, he certainly made the show "very interesting".
Face, Hannibal, and BA were Green Berets and would have worked on the ground in Vietnam, and there Face would have been second in command. While Murdock technically outranks Face, Murdock is not a Green Beret and his job was to fly people back and forth, and he would not have had to do much work on the ground, so he is outside the immediate line of command. I guess they kept to the structure they were used to when they became mercenaries.
@@tanjavalstedjrgensen1882 he was also deemed clinically insane so that technically means he wouldn't be able to give orders, which means that the next in line would be Face, in the case of just B.A. and Murdock, again, because of the Clinically insane thing, B.A. would be in charge, such as when they were trapped aboard that plane in season 1.
I knew "trash bags" would be #1....this is the one deep rooted in my childhood memory more than anyone. Dwight Schultz could be the best television character actor in history. He was also excellent in Star Trek...TNG and Voyager.
I swear to god that trash bags scene is somehow the only scene I remember vividly from this show from when I was a kid. Like I still know all the characters and the formula of the show but the only scene I actually remember is the trash bags one LMAO
