The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

I agree. I d have Barkley #1,Jordan #2. Durant #3,& Kobe at #4. Barkley dominated on the dream team. I saw almost every game. He played out of his mind. #10 is totally wrong. The Knicks center should loose at least half his points. He traveled on at least half the time he scored. Go back and watch tape. I think he took 4 steps on a quarter of his scoring.

@@bolt7047 Fair enough; I just know that when other sports RU-vidrs talk about players like Carmelo who had somewhat "underwhelming" or "overrated" careers in their eyes, they oftentimes forget their significance as a player in college and/or outside of the NBA, as these things help to increase the overall impact a type of player can have like that on the game of basketball, which is of ultimate importance seeing the hall of fame for basketball is not entirely focused on one's career in the NBA. My point is that Carmelo has had a somewhat underwhelming career in the NBA compared to his fellow peers, but like Bill Walton & his dominance at UCLA and/or Manu Ginobli & his renowned success overseas for Argentina, Carmelo's Olympic and collegiate greatness are for the betterment of Carmelo's legacy as a whole.

Man, I love how Jonny finds OPEN-MINDED ways to give legends the recognition they deserve and that he does it in the department most of us, NBA fans, forget many key players and legendary performances over the years, especially guys who aren't from the US, such as me because I am from Europe. Great job as always. Though, I would prefer it if Chuck was a bit higher on the list, since his volume and efficiency as a scorer was something that's never happened before or since in basketball, at any competition or level. Also, for any NBA fan watching who didn't watch USA in the Olympics, it's pretty damn difficult to score 15-20 points in a FIBA game, nevermind average it, so don't ask why all those guys are praised for their efforts so much( Jordan, Barkley, KD...)

As a Serb, raised on Yugo basketball I have to say the US top 10 standard is crazy high. Other countries are lucky to ever win one, and the lowest guy on this list has a double gold. US audience don't realize how hard that is. Yugoslavia (and then Serbia) despite winning 5 FIBA golds only has one Olympic gold. And all those guys are legends in former Yugo...like even assistant coaches. Serbia got a silver in Rio and that was an epic accomplishment. Countries like Canada or Italy never came close. Brazil even. This is all just next level it's hard to grasp for an American. If a mid size country like Poland won a bronze there would be week long parties and the squad would be immortalized domestically. Just want to give perspective.
@TeeEss700

Very interesting perspective. I think that as Americans we’ve normalized Team USA dominating in basketball. You opened my eyes. This was a great comment.
@whenisdinner2137
@whenisdinner2137 Год назад
You're not wrong but at the same time we invented the sport so we expect to be good. Getting beaten at your own game is embarrassing for us. That's why there was such a shitstorm when we only got the bronze in 2004. Bronze was the worst performance we've ever had.
@azanjac
@azanjac Год назад
@@TeeEss700 I know because I lived and played on both sides. This is fact. Greece won a Euro in 2005 and those guys on that team wouldn't have a problem getting a heart transplant if God forbid they needed one. There would honestly be donors lining up. That's for an Euro gold. In America you might have crossed paths with an Olympic gold medal winner and the thought never crossed your mind. Outside of the US if you have the privilege to ever see, let alone speak to an gold medal winner it would be something you talk about and get beers for from mind blown people the rest of your life. No joke. Like if I ever met coach K that would be my best story. I've seen some things, but that would be what impressed people most. And vice versa, if I was at a bar and someone had an Melo or coach K story I'd buy him a beer. My day would be made just meeting someone who had a moment with an great. People here eat basketball, and we're good at it, but no one even questions the US supremacy. Countries would make idols of players where you might just go "meh, number 9". Number 9 in Serbia (or anywhere) gets more props than you guys give. 30 years from now Serbs will remember 1996 and 2018 silvers. Those guys are immortal. Your worst performance is better than Germany's best (outside 1936). It's just crazy.
@azanjac
@azanjac Год назад
@@whenisdinner2137 True, but even that is special. England invented football and only has one WC (Olympics don't matter in football) and they're lucky to get to the semi's ever since. You might snirk at it but they also (probably, or US or France) invented water polo and handball and volleyball, and those medals aren't with the inventor countries either. Just saying that inventing isn't a given road to success. In the early 2000s many people thought that the day came when US domination days are over and we all couldn't be more wrong.

Almost everyone on the list has been a part of the 2 best USA teams in history. The Dream team and the Redeem team. Ironically, the GOAT Olympic baller, Durant hasn't been a part of any of those two (2012 doesn't count).

Jonny I would love to see you expand your videos to the history of basketball outside the NBA. You're by far the most enjoyable and, I believe, impartial RU-vid creator for basketball, so I'm interested in your take on other players, who didn't end up in the NBA. I'm especially interested in your analysis of Nick Galis, who dominated Europe offensively in the 80s. I would argue that he's in the same ballpark as MJ as far as scoring (NOT defense!) is considered, given that he was/still is by far the top scorer in basically every competition he's ever participated, even when all the opposing defense was focused on him; and him being a 6 foot SG scoring mostly by penetrating. That's my little wish, thanks for your efforts anyway! Cheers!

Mj could also easily have been 3/3 if he would have gone in 1996 but he was to focused on winning the NBA championship since he didnt win it in 95 he could even have been the only player to go 4/4 if he would have played in 2020 but Mj is still 11-0 in overall finals. Mj just won every final he ever been to but because he "only" got those 2 Olympics titles I think KD is easily the number one guy on this list going 3/3

It's interesting how and why Americans decided that Olympic basketball is that much more important than the FIBA World Cup . The other traditionally successful nations of international basketball usually treat them as equally important tournaments that can both crown you as " the best in the world".

Solid list, could have done without the A.I explanation in the intro but top 3 made up for it 😉. I hope Sir Charles watches this and starts replying to, "Chuck, I got 4 rings, Chuck" with "Two Gold Medals."

Chuck I believe is top 4 right above Kobe. I'm a Kobe fan (I believe Jonny is too) and yes his impact was great, but Chuck absolutely dominated. Though I do think Chuck got his stats because the defenses were focused on the big 3 (MJ magic bird) yet, to be the best player on the most stacked team says a lot for me. But hey, Jonny makes the video and I'm a fan of his, so I'm cool with this list. ahaha
