Honestly dragon types in the video games definitely got nerfed super hard, both because of Fairy type and other Pokemon overall getting better stats or abilities to give better stats.
Agree but they still are at least top 3 of the most powerfull types, simply because of the excellent stats, abilities and moves that most of them have access to.
Despite all the nerfs monsters like Dragapult or Naganadel exist :P The Dragon Type is more then fine. The Psychic type got the biggest nerd over time hehe
it's so weird that a veteran card gamer can look at a a card like Arceus&Dialga&Palkia GX and only think "this is pretty decent". It's not insane since it has some downsides, but it's obviously just a ticking time bomb balance wise
I remember making a deck with Reyquaza EX, it contained 60 cards, 10 pokemon and 50 energy cards, had a 50/50 win rate, was great for grinding matches in the online game until the meta shifted, would've gotten away with if if it wasn't for those meddling setups and their pesky GXs. Every match I had could be decided in the first four minutes.
@8:07 you missed Mysterious Treasure and Beast Ring as reasons for Ultra Necrozma GX doing well. also Dawn Wings Necrozma GX + Float Stone made pivoting between attackers easy so malamar could charge them.
I also ran aegislash v and aegislash vmax to deal even greater damage in the adp/zacian deck and base aegislash v could deal with threats such as the decidueye that would otherwise wall the deck
Im sad Garchomp from dragons exalted didnt make the cut, when i started playing pokemon tcg i loved that deck, the gabite engine + altaria was really satisfying to pilot, oneshoting EXs fully set up, but even if you had to twoshot them since youre using basics instead of EXs you could still get ahead, i top8d a regional just 1 month after playing the deck.
As a lifelong fan of the Pokémon games, I'm still not sure how I haven't been able to get into the TCG yet. I know the TCG is supposed to be easy to get into but I could never wrap my head around it, even though stuff like energy cards are actually the more common systems used in TCG's. I only play is YGO which is ironically considered to be quite complicated by most people and an oddity in how different its rules are. Still I really enjoy the Pokémon cards themselves as they add some cool abilities to the Pokémon that the video games lack.
The TCG has had long periods of unhealthy metas since tag teams released. ADP forced power creep for everything into overdrive and I don't see it ever getting better. my favorite part about old pokemon TCG is how slow it was and much more methodical but it is more combo heavy
well here's a quick summary of pokemon tcg rules: 1) start by drawing 7, mulligan if you didn't draw a basic pokémon 2) draw card at the start of your turn 3) attach up to 1 energy per turn (unless other card lets you cheat) 4) do whatever the fuck you want. Seriously 5) end your turn with an attack and 3~5 are optional too lol
You missed the new undisputed king of Expanded: Garchomp & Giratina with Lugia VSTAR. You use Wally to get Lugia VSTAR out first turn going second, use the VSTAR ability to get two Archeops, get a few Double Dragon Energy onto G&G, and use the GX Attack to remove major threats (or just win if they only have 1 or 2 Pokémon out). That deck makes me wonder if it should be at #2.
That deck is the only reason I now prefer the PTCG Live expanded format over the PTCGO one. That deck is the ultimate proof that Expanded needs some bans ASAP
@@seantaft3853 yeah. DDE is a huge problem in expanded. But I also think that now with so many powerfull VSTAR mons, Wally should be considered for banning as well
I find Radiant Eternatus kinda Mid-Broken, i mean cmon, What card lets you search for 2 to 3 vmax cards and immediately put them on your bench, that is kinda broken to me
No Goodra VStar is… fascinating, but I respect the rest of the list, under the condition you’re only looking at archetypes and not techs or supportive dragons, like NagaLord, Hydreigon-EX, Dragonite V, or Dragonair (though I can realistically only see Goodra VStar and Hydreigon-EX qualifying for the list)
