I think one of the overclocks that is not as conventionally fun but still very fun is Ice Spear. It isn't as outright fun as blasting around with shotgun bouncing or magic bullets shenanigans but giving driller the ability to demolish weakpoints at range is fun because it feels kinda illegal for driller.
I once saw a gunner one-shot a bulk with the mole. This Karl-blessed dwarf penned a room full of crystals and nailed one if the sacs. Safe to say I've run with mole ever since
I'm putting it here again: the WIDEBOI diffractor. It's so much fun. 32112, feedback loop OC. You can clean entire room and burn everything in them just by aiming in the general direction. It's amazing for waveclear and it's not even bad against big target as the AOE is large enough to hit them despite armor + the added fire damage.
@@zachrabaznaz7687 not a lot even with the ammo tier one. But let's be honest, the diffractor ain't the most ammo efficient weapon and that from the get go. I suggest using this build only in case of big swarms to instantly vaporize them. It's funny to hear control going "swarm! They're onto you!" then "the swarm is peetering out, good job" quasi immediately after.
@@roar104 And yet it depletes super fast. But anyway, my point wasn't to create an ammo efficient build in the first place, nor a perfect build. Just something fun to play with. you could even drop larger battery in tier 1 for max splash damage.
Honestly for each of those overclocks: Salvo module: I can run this on either swarms or bosses cause it's SO good! like for swarms i run either 12221 or 32221 or even 1(or 2)1123 and for bosses i run 22213. It's so versatile and unique, I'd love for all classes to get more shotgun like weapons/overclocks since technically speaking both gunner and driller have OCs that function like a shotgun. Fat boy: Beautiful, it is not as bad as everyone says it is... not unless you're in the radioactive exclusion zone. The only way i run this is 21312 BUT i do switch tier 4 for more Area every now and then with proximity trigger on macteras... Only when i was a greenbeard did i run 32322 in my ignorance, and while still epic, it's just completely better to choose ammo, it's more damage since you can always shoot two nukes if necessary (instead of 1). Aggressive venting: Only until recently did i unlock this OC, and well, it looks interesting, but idk if i'd switch it for impact deflection... But it does look pretty good though! i'll try your set later. The Mole: Perfect for any situation, a heavy damage dealer with lots of ammo or an insane finisher. On swarms i run 22213 or 31212 and on bosses either 11113 or switch to electric trail (and faster charge). Rj250: Demoman mixed with engineer tf2 moment, i love this with all my heart, mastering this is like mastering trolldier, and honestly, if you do, you deserve a free round of knock out stout miner. i run 21122 but i've heard there's more ways to run it. You can use this to jump, or damage enemies. Magic bullets: still waiting to get this, i already know i'll love it, it's just cowbow time 100 cause you can spam that gun and it's still gonna hit. Bullet hell: Normally i run 32312 cause i like accuracy and damage, but if you're mainly gonna just use it one grunts and swarmers you can go 21312. Plastcrete catalyst: I tend to run 12212 or 22213 for better support (and somewhat guaranteed explosions) it's so fun that you sometimes forget there's swarms surrounding you and wanting to kill you. Running ammo also helps cause you can really let loose a little too much. You can also avoid the explosion by shooting at enemies directly every now and then. Bodkin bolts: I normally run 21111 for more swarm oriented clearing, with pheromone grenade this is devastating (as well as with more chemical explosion shots to random grunts). Special powder: Still waiting to find it, i just LOVE the idea of scout having two ways to move around! and in no gravity it's so much more fun. Escaping enemies has never been easier imo. A must if i want to do a point extraction haz 5 solo to get the achievement of no resupply/downs.
You really should use third tier 5 upgrade on the rj250. The reason the upgrade was added was just for the rj250! Makes it much easier to catch yourself while falling with the launcher.
@@frontrider3240 platforms also have a similar upgrade, if you're not running disabled inertia inhibitor in t3 it's a lot harder to catch yourself from falls.
I enjoy Embedded Detonators on the Zhukovs a lot. It's a really great source of burst damage and it's REALLY satisfying to kill a Praetorian or Oppressor within mere seconds with it.
I have a bullet hell build, but I took a completely different route from you. I maxed out ammo, the damage reduction means nothing when you figure most rounds will hit 2 targets. It controls hoards, bosses and hoards with bosses just fine. I use stun and keep aim moving from target to target, the ricochets can also give you an idea where the other bugs are at.
I just got the cryo minelets for the zukov and if you run the penetration rounds it works really good at crowd control. You can still shoot into the enemies for damage but then it will arm the mines in the ground as well so you kind of get double value with this setup. Also its just really fun to freeze everything while mowing down hordes.
I never really used Magic Bullets much but I noticed its kinda nice to have against infected Praetorians when you cant quite see the last boil on them, you can often get them by hitting the wall behind them and bouncing it into what would be your blindspot.
It's weird to me how overclocks are considered andgame. They take a while to get, but they expand the game so much. It feels like just the beginning lmao
Minelayer system for the Hurricane Guided Rocket Launcher! 3-1-2-2-2. This build goes crazy on any long missions in open areas, but especially escort, point extraction, and refinery missions. All you have to do is just shoot missiles in groups of two in front of any group of enemies chasing you, and the missiles explode and basically kill anything in their range. You can also jump around and place mines on the ground for anything following you. This overclock feels underrated, as each missile is basically a whole sticky grenade except half damage. They each do about 60 damage with an AoE range of 4 (!!!) meters! It’s the most ammo efficient build I know.
I think you're underselling the special gunpowder. I think what you get from it, makes it completely outclass all other scout secondaries. And once you master it, you really barely feel any downsides. It's not only very fun, I think it's really good.
Special powder is not only fun to play, but also has a very high skill ceiling. I cant get enough of playing special powder on scout and it has become my go to overclock for any mission that isnt elimination.
Just take off Super Blowthrough and White Phosphorus shell mods and swap to Shockwave and Fear the Boomstick and you can still bring Special Powder on Elimination.
@@ReapeeRon By the way, don't take the reload speed mod for special powder on the boomstick. Because of how it reduces the delay between shooting and reloading, reloading is actually slightly faster with double trigger, even though the animation is slower
Triple-Tech Coil Gun is my vote. It is so satisfying to do three good flicks to hit three different web/acid spitters. Very satisfying expression of skill. Plus, you can just lock down a crowd using the stun and slow of electric trail.
Just got plasma burster missiles and it's been so fun that it turned around my opinion on the weapon. Hyper propellant is probably my overall favorite though (or at least until I finally get fat boy)
2:20 Proximity also makes it a lot easier to clear out a maktera swarm as your chance to miss goes down dramatically (though it wont disappear fully), also those pesky pesky fester fleas. Though the biggest bonus point is missing with proxy and watching the nuke go absolutely bonkers ricocheing around with no idea where, or who, it will explode. 3:30 definetely my absolute favorite overclock now. With just a tiny bit of situational awareness its basically a straight upgrade in my eyes. Its super easy to get that damage bonus in most situations, and even if you cant its still a good gun. 4:47 the almighty rocket jump, now at number 2 of my favorites. Whilst extremely niche the fact you can bounce teammates with it makes it even more fun. Had a few moments where I bounced a scout flying through the swarm, and once actually managed to coordinate with a gunner to get him up somewhere. 6:32 i highly recommend experiencing this oc with maximum spread and max mouse sensitivity. Where we are going we dont need aim! That said, it is extremely impractical and really only something you want to experience one or two missions of. On the bright side, this oc is actually great at taking out swarmers. 8:10 this oc is definetely even more lethal than mini nukes, you have to be so extremely carefull with it. Definetely take friendly on this. 10:23 if there was one thing i could change about drg, itd be making this oc a balanced oc. Only difference would be the yellow icon and a red copy of the green text directly beneath the green text. I personally tend to run this gun with extra pellets in T3 so I can still consistently light praetorians on fire and I never really feel like im running out of ammo with it anyways.
Just want to give a shout-out to my bestie - embedded detonators. This OC might not change the gameplay as much as some other OC's in the video, but it makes Zhukovs such a fun weapon. It really completes Scout for me. Stacking bullets in Dreadnoughts will never get old, but its strength in killing swarms and large single targets is just unmatched (+ reload animation is cool)
I find hyper prop so much fun it feels so satisfying to just shoot a tanky enemy and just deleting that enemy it just feels like starting an email with AS PER MY LAST EMAIL you just know the horror whoever recieves it faces
I once killed myself with a Special Powder, by shooting upwards while jumping. It's a fun overclock and it was a first one i got on boomsstick. Still use it often.
the tristrike OC for boltshark is super fun to use with electric bolts. extremely satisfying to oneshot menaces with it and is a great big game hunting weapon
Unpopular opinion but I would like to see the Drak's bullet audio updated. It sounds really goofy and is kind-of a turn off for me, especially since the projectiles are already kinda weird and not hitscan. If it sounded more like an energy weapon from Apex (like the way the Devotion sounds when you shoot it) I think I could enjoy the feel of it a bit more. Imo it just sounds really unpleasant to shoot when compared to the continuous fire of the gk2 or the really satisfying "BANG BANG" of the m1000. Bit of a random take but lmk if you guys agree.
I'm an engi main but I love rewiring mod and embedded detonators for scout, a high damage low ammo gun and medium damage incredibly high ammo gun. One mission I was in threw three swarms, a bulk detonator, and a korlok at us and I still had enough ammo to get through it all (my two gunner friends had fully run out of ammo at the korlok before the third swarm).
I was so disappointed when I got Magic Bullets instead of Elephant Rounds for my first Bulldog OC. fast forward to today: I have a hard time NOT using anything but Magic Bullets. Its the only weapon that does more damage if I miss, so its drunk proof. 😀
Special powder is so fucking sick, fuck every secondary scout has, once you have this you wont use anything else, get used to it and literally fly through the big ass caves in sandblasted corridors, so fun
You forgot about bouncy rounds on the Drak. You know on first pass with a non OC Drak I kinda hated it. But I knew alot of folks online said that the weapon needs OCs badly, so I gave it a second try with bouncy and its amazing! It essentially doubles your damage in most cases, especially with the blast radius. Plus even missing is really fun to watch, plus no reloads ever. I paired it with the crossbow and call it my magic scout!
Same, it felt like a somewhat more finicky version of the GK2 before, then I got Rewiring Mod and I feel like a discount Gunner with the amount of ammo I can regenerate, with the slight difficulty of needing to first mark down where the bugs are before I start firing since I can't exactly take my time if I want to hit overheat as quickly as possible.
10:00 What about this for a Ricochet loadout: Special Bolt: Tazer. Broadhead Bolts. Reinforced String. Radio Transmitter Module. Magnetic Shafts. For this to be SUPER effective, keep the Inhibitor Field equipped. It may not seem like it's that good, but it actually applies the Electrocution effect, just without the damage. This means Magnetic Shafts *should* still apply.
Goo Bomber Special holds a place in my heart. Very fun on escort for drawing massive lines in the sand, and if you shoot it straight up you can get some massive hits on praets.
The base loadout is nice to see, I wonder how it compares to a fully modded weapon though. That would be hugely valuable to watch for me, as my play time is pretty limited.
Not sure if it’s this way after the update but plasma buster missiles can one shot Omaran rocks. And I’m not talking whittling them down either, it is an INSTANT one shot and I don’t know why. If someone can please explain to me why this happens let me know I’m extremely curious
If I’d take a guess; it’s incorrectly applying the damage of the missiles for as long as it’s inside the hitbox of the rocks. Since the rocks are so big, the missiles essentially just trigger way more often than they’re supposed to. Though this is just speculation. You should prolly write a bug report about it.
@@lava2istrue It's this or that's it's flagged as terran like the pillars so the game flips out and makes the rocks pop. But it's likely the hit box like your said cus if people haven't noticed the missile go's with the rock. So it may have layers causing it to trigger (unlikely because blowthrough lacks this effect) or all the damage is simply dumped at once. Plasma bursters do deal loads of damage. The problem is keeping them up
I have one that is not super crazy, but I have used the rate of fire overclock for the engineers shotgun and added even more rate of fire, so now it has become the auto shotgun from Doom Eternal
Magic bullets are "weaker" now as a bug was fixed where your bullets would ricochet when hitting weakpoints of enemies - granting a free extra shot still very good
I'm looking forward to grinding out "Combat Mobility" for the Thunderhead. It doesn't seem that insane or game-changing but it provides good stats that can be stacked on. Either taking accuracy or ROF growth speed. With more accuracy and area damage, you can become a mobile artillery unit without sacrificing damage. With more Rate of Fire , RoF growth and Damage resistance, you can become a fast tank. I think it'll be a fun one because of all the builds it could support.
I got it a few weeks back, except the smaller mag size really annoyed me, I really miss being able to just hold down the trigger and blast away. Hope you have more fun out of it than me.
I got it as my first oc for thunderhead, you cant play the thunderhead with 55 ammo and 5 second reload, its just not fun. You need to choose mag size mod which is sucked because you can't get juicy 200+ ammo from that mod tier.
Oh cmon, not running rate of fire in tier 2 for special powder? Its not fun not reaching this crazy velocity, you know Born ready helps a lot with it since you jump from minerals to minerals it will reload itself, while you keep T5 fire (could just take T5 reload mod and have decent opressors damage on it! always lacking in damage on those guys as scout with AOE primaries) One of my favorite clocks is cryo snowball, i usually never run cryo, but having an option to call in cryo grenade makes it pretty good for team and with decent range.
I have an idea for thunderhead big Bertha overclock being advanced big bertha and double barrel with the normal clean overclock and adv. double barrel have much more ammo, damage and front AoE shockwave
I was extremely lucky in getting the broomstick launching oc before I promoted even 2 dwarves I love it so much its so much fun I basically started the game with it
My mole overclock seems bugged, I cannot seem to deal a ton of damage, even when firing through at least 5 different layers. Yes it deals more damage than a normal direct hit, but the buff seems minimal
Because grapple has reload time, and even with max reduction upgrades it is still too long to be able to grapple up and then break your fall with it, the special powder gives you a second grapple and get out of jail free card if you don’t have your grapple up
Nice list! Definitely agree with Special Powder at number one. The opportunity cost of not taking an offensive overclock definitely hurts, but I find taking blowthrough, fire and the extra pellet mod makes it still feel useful for swarm clear while leaving you plenty of ammo to jump around with. LazyMaybe's boomstick video is great for those wanting a detailed guide to building the boomstick.
