My parents were in their early teens while living in London during the blitz. Dad said of the Doodlebug. It’s a sound once heard and never forgotten. My Dad’s girlfriend that he had before he met my Mum was killed by a Doodlebug. That one Doodlebug took out the whole street one night. The next morning my Dad had gone round to pick her up for a trip to the swimming baths. He turned the corner to find the whole street just a cloudy mass of rubble in a crater. Dad was only 14, but he spent the rest of that day helping the Home Guard and the police clear through the carnage for the injured and deceased. 17 people died and 23 were injured that night. Among the dead my Dad pulled out the rubble was his girlfriend, her sister, their mother and grandmother. It was a devastating surprise attack where no warning sirens could be issued in time. I don’t think Dad ever really recovered from that. May all our fallen rest in peace. Lest we never forget.

While my grandfather had to serve during World War II I'm glad that he was an ambulance driver. He rather saved lives instead of taking them, so that's something to be proud of. The worst sound for me is the air raid siren. Though I have never been in this situation it makes my hair raise.

The recording they played to scare the Vietcong is pretty horrifying. Especially when you listen to it with subtitles. Some of these gunfire sounds also give me goosebumps. My mother's uncle was in Vietnam during the war. About a year after coming home, it was New Years Eve, and he did not react well to the fireworks' sounds. Firecrackers are a popular one where we live, and those can sound like gunfire when an entire string is lit up. When I heard that story I cried.

War. War never changes. War is always stupid, caused by people that are to willful in their pursuit to force their will onto others. As with allot that is going on nowadays... where you have a minority that earns the majority of money in circulation... and the majority has to actually do all the work... at minimum wage. In War... the same people will suffer... again by doing all the "work"... which includes the dying... and more suffering if they survive.| Maybe someone can tell me what is worse... dying in a War... or surviving it with PTSD and living to 90 years.
