I bought my first skmei a couple months ago from the official aliX flagship store, the 1776 positive display model. Bad experience, one of the screws that holds the caseback was deformed and sharp. I took macro pictures and sent them to skmei and asked if they could simply send a new screw. They first played dumb and pretended to not know what I was saying, then told me to goto a watch shop and have it repaired then played dumb again and kept telling me they don't sell replacement screws (I wasn't asking to pay for one, lol) I finally filed a claim and got a 100% refund. I honestly would have taken a $2.00 refund but they offered nothing. The watch itself had a very nice case and strap and felt solid, unfortunately it lost 36 seconds/month and the display was hard to read in many situations. I ended up taking the screw out to look for a replacement and it wasn't even a machined screw. It looked like a cheap tick screw used in metal working. It had about 2 threads on it instead of a casio screw that would have about 10
Thanks for sharing your experience. Yes, the quality issues happen from time to time, and the accuracy of Skmei digital watches is also a random thing, but -36 sec/month is a really bad result. I reviewed over 100 Skmei watches now, some are better some aren't so good. I still have 2 digitals and they are working now for 5 and 2 years ( Skmei 0991 and 1623 ). Sure I use them rather rarely. Lately, prices on the aliexpress went higher, and obviously, it's more convenient to get a cheaper Casio than just a bit cheaper Skmei (Casio homage). But some Skmei models are quite successful (well made and look good) and the quality isn't that bad. The backlight in most cases is much better than on most even much more expensive Casio watches.
I have two Skmei 1806 watches. Gold-gold and white steel black dial. Nice watch, but different accuracy. Gold-gold -30 sec. and steel -20 sec. I do not like it. I have a Xonix kz 007 watch with an accuracy of 7 seconds in 14 months! Super!
I just found and ordered two new skmei and cakcity watches that have designs like I've never seen before. I was hoping to see them in your video but i didn't
@@GedmisLaguna the cakcity is a diray diray dr-347g with the word chronograph written on the top of the face. When the other arrives I'll let you know it's model number
@@johnnybracciole5490 LOL! Within a month! I suggest getting silver color. I have watches with silver zinc alloy cases that hold their color better compared to the gold-plated ones.
Good question. Well, some Skmei models are very close in quality compared with the cheaper Casio watches but have a better backlight. Yet they are 2x cheaper. Casio will always win in quality control and they are original design watches. Anyway, digital Skmei models are quite popular because of their rather good quality and lower price.
@@GedmisLaguna Firstly, I'm not a fan of Ali Express style "homage" watches in general, so with SKMEI et al, they may be only half the price, but do you get the joy and the smile you get when you're wearing your favourite fun Casios? Also, more often than not they make others smile and they also appreciate the watches brand and heritage. Unfortunately or not, most people (I believe) will look at SKMEI et al as nothing more than cheap Chinese knock offs, which fundamentally they are. Therefore, I'm more than happy to spend the extra (few) dollars and get the real thing. Lastly, I'm not bagging you out as a person or reviewer as these watches exist and need someone(s) to review them, only the watches.
@@mordeth1964 is a choice to buy whatever you want. And you are wearing a watch to make yourself happy not people. Many buy the skmei and it makes them happy, and so the casio. So, since you prefer the casio, go for it and allow those that like the skmei to have fun wearing it.
