Watching him pitch the opening game against Hanshin tonight, I was reminded of what an artisan Yasuhiro Ogawa can be on the mound. He has never been an overpowering pitcher, but the way he is able to baffle hitters and keep them off-balance has made him one of the most consistent and effective pitchers in the Central League. Ogawa consistently keeps his team in the game, and on the occasion can be absolutely brilliant.

日本語で失礼します。確かに彼はメジャーに挑戦したいと表明しましたが現状では所属球団にメリットがあまりない為、来年の成績によってその先の道が分かれると思います。日本の選手がポスティング制度を使ってメジャーに挑戦するタイミングは25歳のオフに文句なしの成績を残すか国内FAの権利を獲得する前の年になります。高橋光成のFAは2025年ですので2024年のオフにポスティングが考えられます

@こんばんエーックス。メジャー自体そんな投げさせる事をしないのでシンプルにどれだけ圧倒的なピッチングができるかだと思います。現時点では少し厳しいかな？と思っているのでもちろん来期次第だと思いますしある程度試合を作れるくらいまで投げれるんだったら完投に変に拘らなくてもいいのかなって思います。ただ日本よりも打高なリーグなので球数が嵩張っても大丈夫なようにスタミナがあるに越したことは無いですけどね。

Was Nick Martinez more solid then Miles Mikolas while he was playing for Yomiuri or should I say better then recent year of Sugano? I should tip a hat on San Diego’s Asian scout as Nick and Robert Suarez were untouchable not to mention Kim was first Asian SS who has a GG caliber.

question, how highly do you value innings pitched when evaluating performance? Both Togo and Takahashi blew away everyone on the list except for Yamamoto, and so im curious as to how they finished so low.

I definitely think innings matter, but it’s only one of the criteria I look at. I value a lot of underlying numbers like xFIP or hard hit % to try to balance actual performance and true talent level. Togo and Kona are innings eaters and that helped them accumulate a lot of WAR but on an inning by inning basis, I think the other 8 pitchers are all better. Togo’s xFIP wasn’t great and Kona had the worst hard hit % against in the league among qualifiers. It’s also why I have Roki and Hiroto Takahashi so high despite the relative lack of innings. I think they make up for it with sheer dominance. That’s just my own logic for the rankings.

佐々木のfipえぐいｗｗ fipがeraより低いということは、ロッテの守備が悪いということなのかな？🤔 whipが0.8でk/bbが脅威の30ということは、制球がよく一イニングあたりの投球数も少ないことの裏付け。あと奪三振力も極めて高いため、守備ファクターを受けずに済む。しかもまだまだ完全体じゃない。これはスケールのよりでかいピッチャーになるぞ☺ 期待してます。
