If any one reads the mangas or simply even the first season it specifies that Pokemon battle to defend their owner's honor. In the real world humans force animals to fight for their amusement all the time. Dog fights, cockfighting and other blood sports result in the brutal and violent death of thousands of animals every year. Creatures have no choice but to fight when put into the ring. Nobody forces a boxer into the ring at gunpoint. BTW, would you please learn the difference between their, they're and there. These are not interchangeable words.

Jake isn't really a pet.... He's another "human being" You can't consider another person to be a pet when you live in a world like that That'd be like going to the DBZ universe, finding one of the Dog police men, and saying he was Goku's pet (East City Police Chief, I believe, was a dog with a stache) Its different when every other dog in Scooby doo is just a normal dog, in comparison to Scooby Doo and his family, Who all seem to be abnormally gifted. Scooby Doo is also kept =as= the Family pet, and best friend to Shaggy. Jake isn't kept as a pet, but as a Brother (step) with the fact that Finn was taken in by Jake's parents (if I remember the lore/story right) and as a best Friend. However. Bmo on the other hand, or the pie toaster thing, might technically be pets... Not sure.... Ice king's Penguin (army) might be considered pets, but aside from seeming fairly smart, none of them are strange. (above is directed at shiny- Below is in general a response to the video) Pikachu is definitely given and kept as a pet same as most/all pokemon But honestly.- Pokemon isn't a cartoon nor is it a strange pet in their canon... So the title needs a little more verifying clarification - Are they strange pets to us, or strange pets even to their canons? Scooby is undoubtedly a strange pet in their canon and to us. Astro is a *futuristic* talking dog... and while they don't say whether he's altered or anything - I also can't vividly remember any other dogs, and whether they could speak or not. Tom, Spike and Jerry could be better inserts though (specially better than pikachu) since they are cartoons, spike speaks almost regardless of episode time. (past present, etc) and sometimes Tom has been shown to have speech capability, but I wouldn't really say he can (canonly) Instead He's strange just by the fact that he's absurdly intelligent (and yet still absurdly stupid) and typically walks upright almost predominantly rather than on all fours He and Spike are constantly shown as being unknown legs' pets, typically of the same household even. And Jerry is sometimes "not freaked out over" (I.E "EEEK its a mouse! Get it Tom!") and/or acknowledged as a pet. Not all the animals in this canon are strange like these as well, though there are A LOT of them. (Like Droopy) Other cats that come in "to replace tom" typically are normal Other dogs that chance Tom are typically normal Spike's son is usually for the most part, normal. etc Yoshi is a strange pet- however, Not in their canon in fact- adding Pokemon into his list kinda seems to make a lot of problematic responses A lot of pets are "normal" for their canons and not having them is strange With Stitch, he's an Alien being kept as if he was a normal pet by a Hawaiian girl - all other pets in this canon are normal- Strange. Rufus is a naked mole rat - Strange by default, Plus he eats nacos and almost intelligently responds to Ron - definitely intelligent, Strange. dunno about MPM - never saw it/heard of it. Denver don't know either, but looks legit for strange. Perry - Strange Slimer - again, Legit and strange. Its otherwise normal human universe, with ghosts, no one else keeps strange ghost pets. Garfield only *MIGHT* be legit- Even Odie is more normal than Him, Nermal, and Arlene but there's one specific iteration of Garfield in which a devastating storm was going to hit and destroy most of the toy, that Garfield and some pets actually spoke and dragged the owners to a theater that was safer. Which shows that quite a few animals thought to otherwise be normal could actually speak As for eats lasagna - My cat does that, so I wouldn't say that a selling point either. The normal everyday speaking that we hear from Garfield however is his "thoughts" - Garfield CGI/live action/whatever.... That... I dunno.. Lets just say that doesn't exist though. Courage the Cowardly Dog is Probably Legit. -Though honestly we never seen other families and their pets... So maybe he's not strange in their canon- But probably is. - However, You could probably make an entire top 10 outta "talking Dog (or cat) pets that are strange pets to have" if you just start hunting them down. (insert catdog and the 3 cats from catscratch (who are strange looking just to begin with and add talking and rich)( they were pets to the rich old lady that passed away, If I remember the reason they were left the money correctly) etc etc
