Early spongebob: "You don’t pay me. We don’t even exist. We’re just a clever visual metaphor used to personify the abstract concept of thought." Spongebob now: Spongebob crying, Spongebob being a creepy gay stalker, Squidward suffering for the sake of suffering, People making weird faces, and everyone in general acting like jerks for no reason
*sigh* It's really sad how both Spongebob and Family Guy has really become after it got derailed after Season 4 for Spongebob and Season 7 for Family Guy after the old writers and Stephen Hillenburg left. Both shows revolved on Tourture Porns, characters that became assholes and jerks,A supporting character that is poorly treated like a red-headed Step-Child and a Dog or worse a walking doormat and cruelty. This is proven that these stupid lazy new writers are as bad as the current WWE writers that still writes The Authority shit.
Putridities It seems as though the games have continued to be just a reskin of the previous game with a little bit of new features (played diamond, pearl, platinum, soulsilver, and black, there really isn't much major differences between those games)
Matthew B I feel like the writers need to do more writing in the gaps between series so they have material to fall back on because from what I've heard on the commentaries a lot of the problems that show in the series writing (just insert something stupid here and another rushed episode there) is the result of the writers having just one week to make each episode. Sometimes that works and the pressure drives creativity, at other times you naturally end up with something that could have used a little more time and polish. I feel like the series has gotten better (a LOT better than the early days, for certain) but it won't production schedules are stopping it from hitting its stride.
djmeagaaim17 IKR! I even mentioned that being one of of the reasons in my Previous comments, about Why I dislike the Pokemon Anime! And believe it or not, the REAL Reason why Ash does Not Age, is because the director of the Pokemon Anime want the Main Protagonist to remain the Same Age as the main demographic: Children around Age 10. Which IMPO, is Complete Bullshit!
One Piece. I know it's like the top anime in Japan right now but the more they drag it out the more likely it is to go to crap. The same goes for a lot of anime that have over 200-300 episodes. I just feel like it isn't really worth it for new generations to start them and that really takes away from their legacy. Things like Cowboy Bebop, Baccano and Death Parade will probably be remembered an rewatched for years but shows like One Piece will be so hard for new viewers to finish that a lot just won't put in the effort.
To quote Matt Groening in The Simpsons and Futurama crossover: "A show out of ideas teams up with a show out of episodes." Good Lord... Even the creators know...
desdar100 I think dookieshed put it the best, saying that running out of ideas isn't their problem but dumb ideas have been around since the beginning.
BlackCriticGuy We call them Dishonorable mentions. Family Guy : I wasn't a fan of this show at all,i find this to be a ripoff of the simpsons and really stupid. Most of the jokes are lame, stupid and not funny, the Plots aren't inderesting,is has TOO GOD DAMN VIOLENCE & The Characters aren't likeable at all. Saturday Night Live : Is a good show ,but it has to stop Two and a Half Men : Never Heard of it Scrubs : Never Heard of it Spongebob Squarepants : FUCK THE NEW SEASONS(when i was a kid i like this cartoon {only the first 3 seasons} but when i get older and older it wasn't as good as i remember it most of the jokes aren't that funny anymore, most of the plots are stupid nonsensical & the charactars.....well.....stupid,annoying(patrick the star) & unlikeable for the most part) Keeping Up with the Kardashians : WTF IS THIS SHIT? imdb 2.8/10 American Idol : i like and dislike this show (I like people to go there to tried there best to be something special and do something special) {I dislike the critic (most of them, not all them) there are idiots jerks who don't know nothing} Case Closed : A Detective tried to find out who turn him into a kid and for 600 episodes he never find out? that's it worst anime ever. Pokemon : OMG when to i even begin 1)Why Ash lose the champion tournament everytime after all the experience it has? 2)Team Rocket FUCK THOSE GUYS 3)How the hell Ash is still a 10 year old boy? 4)Lazy Writing (Some Times) 5)Team Rocket FUCK THOSE GUYS The Simpsons : How long this show will be in the air?The show (for the most part) at got worst and worst.
Any Spongebob episode after 2004 (with the exception of a few decent episodes like "Krabby Hotel") is garbage. They need to kill it already. Sorry, mega Spongebob fans. Anyway, great video, BCG. I felt like this one was really well thought out :).
+Iasmin Verza I can agree with you on that. I saw the first few seasons and stopped. Recently I just happened to find it on tv and in the episode they were talking about Greek gods and shit. I couldn't make any sense of it. It seemed like they were just pulling shit out of their ass.
Here's my shows that overstayed their welcome! 10. NCIS - Sorry CBS but this show should've ended after Season 4. It's time to hang it up and call it good. 9. Aqua Teen Hunger Force or whatever name changes that the creators shat out of their vaginas - Glad Adult Swim is pulling the plug on it this show wasn't funny to begin with. 8. Big Brother - OH MY GOD! CBS needs to put the series out to pasture already! This shit still keeps going! 7. Days of Our Lives - Hey NBC just cancelled it already Soap Operas are dead. 6. Johnny Test - Cartoon Network and Telétoon needs to stop making new episodes and burn the series to the ground. Nobody cares for it anymore! 5. Naruto - Should've ended at the Chunin Exam arc and The fillers is proven that Studio Pierott weren't really trying anymore because Kishimoto is a lazy bastard. 4. WWE Tough Enough - The show is nothing but a sham! 3. Fairly OddParents - Ever since Poof,Foop and Sparky came the show is a mess! 2. AFV - Meh. 1. Supernatural - Don't care for this series.
SpongeBob SquarePants started out as one of the best tv shows from seasons 1-3. I understand that even though the show declined little by little from seasons 4-8, people were still watching the show (probably the best episodes from the declining seasons). SpongeBob is too much of a worldwide phenomenon to get cancelled and I hope it never does. The show got many of it's audience back when seasons 9-11 premiered. The episodes were hit after hit because most of the original writers came back after the success of the second movie. Many people started loving season 11 more than the first three seasons. If SpongeBob didn't continue it's seasons, we wouldn't have gotten better episodes. I'm glad the show has been renewed for a future 14th season and the show continues with it's spin-offs in my opinion.
At first I was worried aobut these two spin-offs, but after Kamp Koral's and The Patrick Star Show's Halloween episodes tuned out to be surprisingly awesome and creative, I really warmed up to them and I am glad that Spongebob did not end earlier at 3 seasons because then Avatar: The Last Airbender would have eclipsed its popularity on Nickelodeon with the same number of episodes and seasons.
Hey Tony. First off, great list. Second, I've been out of the loop with your videos for a while; so when I went back to check on some new ones, I noticed that the background music isn't there anymore. Or it's been delegated to music for the bookend of the videos? Can I ask why that is? It's out of curiousity more than anything.
LOST will forever be one of the biggest shows I ever wanted to just END. That show just kept going and going and going. Why did people still gave a fuck about it? The Walking Dead.....I stopped after season 2, sue me! Love & HipHop needs to fucking go! Waste of air time! Trash upon trash, didn't even deserve a season 1. And probably the most one that'll get hate if said in public....Supernatural! I actually loved that show....until season 3.....I just got bored of it. And last and definitely not least.....fucking Power Rangers. JUST FUCKING END THE SHIT FOR FUCKING SAKES! I'm done, those are my choices...I have more but these are my main choices, I got plenty left but for another day.
rloul1 omg true but the show ended nicely. If they continued I would have liked a new set of heroes were they follow what happens in the comics like how teen titans follows the comics and their events nicely.
i think that the family odd parents should have been on this list being that they over stayed there welcome and jumped that shank with the addition of sparky that generic fair god dog just to boost its ratings
I'm sure I'm not the only one who notice this but the personalities of the characters totally changed(Stewie). In the early 2000's he cared only for two things. World domination and killing his own mom. He went from "Damn you vile woman!" yo "CoolWhip" But I'm not complaining its actually pretty hilarious XD and I'm pretty sure back then the main characters were nicer to Meg °_°
Hey BCG do you plan on doing the opposite to this list? shows that got canceled to early. for example young justice and sym bionic titan . those shows were the best.
Honestly I wish they'd cancel Pokémon series with Ash and do more newer/original stuff. Pokémon Origins was actually pretty good and harkened back to a time when Pokémon was made with the plot of the games in mind. The games have some pretty interesting plot and characters that could be explored well if taken away from the Ash Ketchum universe. Christ, maybe if every main character wasn't a complete moron and understood how to pokémon, maybe even this series could be slightly watchable.
Yea man these were all spot on. I'll add the DragonBall franchise, Naruto, One Piece, Supernatural and Smallville. And Assassin's Creed aka Assassin's Shit even though it's not a tv series, I just had to add it.
Tony, great video, one of the best probably :D, now i have a suggestion, can you react to an anime called Gakkou girashi (School Live in english)?, its probably one of the animes that has been blowing up in popularity since it came out last week, if you decide to do it, its better to go in blind and dont judge a book by its cover :3, and for the my top picks Family guy, And 2 man and half, Bye :D
My list would be very similar to yours! Maybe with Frasier in there, that series was probably about one season too long. Its still my favourite sitcom of all time though! Keep up the good work Tony :)
oh, I have a few shows that I feel overstayed their welcome. 1. Supernatural- I love the show to death but it should have ended when Lucifer was defeated. 2. Dexter- I felt the show starting to losing steam after season 5. 3. Smallville- Around the time Pete left is when I start getting bored with the show. 4. Bones- It's a dumb show that just won't go away. Fox please cancel that show already. 5. Doctor Who- with season 7 and that piss poor movie, I completely lost interest.
another show that's overstayed its welcome: Ben 10. Omniverse was when it started to jump the shark, but now there's a reboot of the original coming soon
Man, when I first saw "Keeping Up with the Kardashians", I, being a nerdy person, thought, "Omg! New Star Trek??" *Thinking of Cardasshians* ..... Boy, was I disappointed.
I can understand you saying Detective Conan/Case Closed has overstayed its welcome. That show is among my favorite anime series but yes it has been on for a while however I really enjoy it. The show was heavily inspired by Sherlock Holmes and I look forward to the new movie every April. I'm kinda surprised that you didn't mention Power Rangers.
Nice list lol. I stopped watching the Office before Michael left. I think I got around to Will Ferrell/Gabe/Sabre etc. and it got really hard to continue. Yo you should really watch Knights of Sidonia, it's like a good version of Attack on Titan (minus the animation)
I agree, The early Simpsons had some touching heartfelt episodes, like with the episode of Lisas mentor the jazz man dying, Bart struggling at a grade he wanted and the substitute teacher off the top of my head. Now the Simpsons just feel really bland with no soul, and character traits have been exaggerated so much (Lisa and Ned for example) look up "Flanderization" theirs even a term for it! The Simpsons needs to go, it's had it's time and golden era from the 90s. Pokemon will still keep along as long as theirs games released, and it shows no sign of slowing down, though I will always prefer the early seasons, and wasn't Scrubs finished?
SpongeBob has improved now because Stephen Hillenburg has returned. I love, love, love, love, love the show but some episodes are bad....I'm one of the biggest fans of the show too...
I just looked up on what the Simpsons ending will be like and there is a rumor in the Rolling Stone that they legally separate at the end of sesson 27 due to a disease. (Homer gets narcolepsy.) I don't know if it's true or not, but I guess we'll find out.
Curious on your thoughts about Survivor. Not sure when you stopped watching, but the series has definitely picked up over the last few seasons after going through some pretty bad seasons a few years back
Love you Tony, but I have to emphatically disagree about South Park. One of my favorite shows of all time and still putting out genius episodes with next level humor and social commentary.
I can agree with most, it's hard to suggest alternatives to your list when if a series overstays its welcome I just stop watching it. Why can't these people ever learn to quit while they're ahead
Pokemon ended for me when Ash beat Gary in the Silver Tournament, and then Ash decided to start a new journey with just Pikachu, while Gary decided to become a Pokemon Doctor (or something like that), with Brock and Misty both returning to their home town/city
I'm so glad Pokemon was put here. I mean I kept enjoying the games until very recently (X and Y are the first Pokemon games I found boring) but I stopped enjoying the anime before the Johto arc was even done. The series would have honestly been perfect if they went with the original plan of having it end with Mewtwo's Strikes Back (which was to take place after Ash got defeated during the Pokemon league) and changed protags like digimon does but nope, fuck that they have their cash cow best dig your heels and never try anything new.
Im guessing auto correct got u. And fair enough this is the first time I've ever heard this side of the argument so instead of condemning your opinion, I'll ask y do u think that gen 6 is better?
X-Files did kind of over stay it's welcome when Mulder was barely in the show around the end, same with Scully, although she got much more screen time than Mulder.
