Really? You think M. Night Shyamalan's worse than Uwe Boll? That's a bit unfair. I mean Shyamalan at least did a couple good movies, like "The Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable."
and films like "Signs", "The Visit", " The Village" are acceltable. The only bad ones are "The Last Airbender" and "After Earth". "Lady in The Water" and "The Happening" are hilarious!
I'm so glad Blizzard Entertainment refused to give Uwe "Balls" the rights to World of Warcraft. Haha in their quote, "We will not sell the rights to you. ESPECIALLY not to you."
Uwe Boll is infamous for two things: 1 Exploiting German tax loopholes to write off his films' losses 2 Challenging his critics to boxing matches, and beating the hell out of them. That alone makes him the only person on your list whom I actually hate. As a person that is.
Here are some of the reasons why I have a grudge against Michael Bay: 1. He puts ZERO effort into his movies 2. He movies as a whole are style over substance in a bad way 3. His overuse of explosions in movies have gotten old fast 4. His humour attempts in movies are atrocious as fuck 5. He objectifies women in almost all his movies 6. Most of his films has a beat you over the head patriotism 7. He makes the same damn movie over and over and over again and doesn't evolve as a director 8. He made only one good movie-(The Rock) and the rest of his movies-(minus the first Bad Boys and first Transformers movie) ranges from being forgettable to horrendous 9. With all the shitty movies he has made since 1998-(Starting from Armageddon), I have ZERO hope that Michael Bay will ever make a great movie ever again and Transformers 4: Age of Extinction just sinks it even deeper 10. He doesn't even listen to all the criticism he gets from critics and audiences alike-(He even walked off stage during a press conference panel when asked to explain his approach to directing). It's all his way only and he is all "Here's my film, enjoy it" and doesn't give a single fuck of what audiences and critics think about his movie
Honestly, Boll for me is #1. I mean unlike Shyamalan at his worst, Boll actually goes out of his way to make these things horrible. And coming from a guy who's least favorite film is The Last Airbender that is saying a lot. Plus Shyamalan has actually made a comeback, of sorts
I hate Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer with such a firey passion. The only thing that I can I liked in the movies is some of the attractive actress they have in their movies like Sophie Monk, Carmen Electra and Vanessa Minnillo but that's not really saying much. How these guys have managed to stay in the film making business for this f**king long really astounds me.
Dude, I fucking love your enthusiasm on how you listed these awful (or somewhat) film directors and writers of movies. As a result, maybe for your next video, you should do a Top 10 Underrated Movie Directors list and I would love to see it come to life. And also dude, you deserve yourself a subscriber!
UpToeDownSasquatch No!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Black Critic Guy stay away from Bible Black there is a women who grows a dick from her vagina stay clear of that hentai.
Raja Gosnell may have terrible films under his helm but I love the Scooby doo movies. One of the few adaptions that was actually pretty close to the source material lol
''Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer your jokes will only make toddlers laugh.'' No, man that's insulting to toddlers. Not even babies would laugh at their shit. In fact I once made a joke that Friedberg and Seltzer make movies for shit. No literally, the shit that comes from our asses.
My list: Honorables: M. Night, Tommy Wiseau, the creators of Teen Titans Go, the writers and director of Jem and the Holograms, whoever directed Dragonball Evolution, and Casey Alexander and Mr. Lawrence. 10. P. W. S. Anderson (Guilty pleasure) 9. Ed Woods 8. Petof 7. Ronald Emmerich 6. Zack Snyder and David S. Goyer 5. Seltzer and Friedberg 4. Seth McFarlane 3. Uwe Boll 2. Skip Woods 1. Michael Bay Please don't kill me for Zack Snyder...
+Nathan Snyder Yeah, I've only seen Sucker Punch and Man of Steel. His biggest strength is making fantastic visuals, but most of his characters are weak if not mean-spirited, and the plots of his movies are sometimes contrived and forced. I have nothing against the guy, but I don't think he's the greatest director working in Hollywood at the moment. If there's anything positive for me to say, I would love him to co-direct a movie with someone who can create fantastic stories and characters, such as Joss Wheden or Guillermo del Toro.
+Tony Davis (Battlion50) Yeah, it's the same deal with Seth Macfarlane. I loved the first 3 seasons of Family Guy, the best adult show I've seen at the time. But, nowadays, Macfarlane's style of comedy is cringeworthy, if not overused and prolonged. Again, nothing against the guy. But I feel like he gets too much credit for making subpar entertainment. Especially with such projects like the later Family Guy seasons, Ted 2 (I havent seen Ted, but, from what I've seen, it's not really for me), A Million Ways To Die In The West, and the Cleveland Show. I'd like to think Fox is responsible for his decline in quality because I like to blame Fox for everything... :P
Florence Corporal Well, Fox has been having some crappy action films for a few years recently. Hitman sucked, Diehard 5 sucked, and plenty of others, besides X-men.
+Tony Davis (Battlion50) Not to mention Walking With Dinosaurs, Fant4stic, Fox News, and those wannabe Star Wars prequels. I guess you can say all film corporations, and all corporations in general, are flawed, but for me, Fox and Sony are the most flawed, Fox with its long track record of f*** ups and Sony with its infamous product placement and equally terrible number of f*** ups. If I ever work for a film corporation I'd rather work for Warner Bros. and Disney, since, for every f*** up Disney makes, they make five good movies to bury them. Except for the Disney Channel. That channel is damaged goods. And, as long as I don't work on a superhero movie for WB, I will be happy.
***** But if there's no more megan fox who will stop shredder!? WHO will be the hot girl in action movies who's bad at acting? That's like a requirement!
mark12033 In that same rant he said he had enough money to play golf the rest of his life too. So someone gave him money and if crowd funding doesn't work...he should realize he's just trash.
M. Night made at least one good movie (The Sixth Sense) and I and the Nostalgia Critic would say that Unbreakable was another good movie he made; and as you said, Uwe Boll hasn't made a single good film, so shouldn't they have switched positions on this list?
I knew Shamalamadingdong would be in the number 1 spot. I can understand if a person has a passion for a certain genre or style, they want to use it more...but for the life of me, I can never understand WHY some director's and writer's don't take constructive criticism well, if at all.
Sorry to nitpick, and I do agree with most of this video, but you can't blame Akiva Goldsman for Batman Forever totally. Lee Batchelor and Janet Scott-Batchelor plotted and co-screen-wrote that film. I did kind of like Batman Forever, but mainly for Jim Carrey and Nicole Kidman.
I already saw Bay coming up in the list, but I am especially glad that Ehren Kruger is higher than Bay. His writing is so bad, that NOW there was a writer's room to expand the TF film universe. Heck, Akiva Goldman himself was leading the writers. Now, I could be ENTIRELY wrong, I heard he is writing Transformers 5. I seriously PRAY it becomes better (not perfect, but BETTER) than what Kruger added in the films.
Uwe Boll did actually try with Postal which is arguably his least bad video game movie. But that's not saying much as it was still terrible but there is at least 1 video game movie he can be better than. cough) Mortal Kombat Annihilation (cough)
Is it bad that I can turn my brain off to enjoy Bay's movies? I know they're not good movies but at least to me they're so bad they're entertaining to watch. Plus I'll admit right now I did like the TMNT movie last year even though I thought it focused a bit too much on April.
No that's not bad at all :) I too do that and end up enjoying them, I actually liked Transformers 4 which i know I shouldn't but I did because it was fun to just watch it with a friend and mindlessly watch it.
UpToeDownSasquatch Yeah they may not be cinematic masterpieces but they at leat burn off a couple hours when I'm bored. Unlike Dragonball Evolution and The Last Airbender which made me want to claw my own eyes out.
I liked the first Transformers but with the sequels he made them too long to the point where you wanted it to stop but there is still 45 minutes left, the humour and stereotypes piss me off too, but that's just like your opinion, man.
Yeah his movies don't make me angry at all which is good because when I watch a movie I'm either in for the movie for mindless entertainment, an interesting plot, or great visuals. I don't like when movies make me angry since it always ruins my day.
But I liked The Rock, Bad Boys 1/2, The Island, Transformers 1 and Pain and Gain. I also hated Pearl Harbour, that movie in of its self is disrespectful to the very event in the movie made into a fun explosion-fest instead of a tragic war film as it was advertised, a silly love triangle didn't help either.
The worst part about Michael Bay is the fact that he knows his films are bad, but he knows people will watch them anyway and thus only cares about the money his movies make. Directing and writing is an art, but Michael Bay does not deserve to be even considered an artist.
Top 20 WORST directors: Dishonorable mentions: Aaron Norris, Eli Roth, David Ayer, M. Night Shyamalan, Rachel Talalay, 20. Ed Wood 19. Anne Fletcher 18. Rob Cohen 17. Olivier Megaton 16. Mark Steven Johnson 15. Tyler Perry 14. Tim Story 13. Robert Luketic 12. Brian Robbins 11. McG 10. Rob Zombie 9. Renny Harlin 8. John Moore 7. Raja Gosnell 6. Uwe Boll 5. Ben Falcone 4. Paul W.S. Anderson 3. Frank Coraci, Steven Brill and Dennis Dugan 2. Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer 1. Michael Bay
The reason why many of these filmmakers keep finding work is that a large number of us keep paying to see their films. Michael Bay will still make movies the way he does because they consistently make more than $100 million on their opening weekend. The studio's are only cranking out what turns a profit. It's our responsibility as fans to vote with our wallets in an attempt to ensure that good filmmaking has a better chance to become more common.
11:06 From what I learned from Mel Brooks films is that a good parody is good at both spoofing and respecting the source material.... and has a good story. The bottomline for a movie to be good is the story and characters.
Nothing against you, but by all means, please. Make a whole 130 minute movie. Being a filmmaker is so fucking hard now a days, cuz every concept for a movie has been made, and even when it's something interesting and new it really doesn't shock audiences. Now I will give credit since some of these directors and writers do make really bad movies and don't even try *cough uwe bolle cough* it really is hard to make a film, whether it be a comedy, drama, action, especially horror it's hard to shock audiences or even scare them. I'm a filmmaker and I'm making a short bullied victim film and my worst fear is for everyone to hate it. I'm so desperate that i care for every little detail like shots, angles, lighting, location, everything. (Also being into filmmaking one of our jokes to one another is "don't uwe bolle it" since he, to us, is our most hated director)
Just because someone hasn't written a screenplay their self, that does not mean that they can't criticize screenwriting. A critic is someone who has a large knowledge base of their chosen field, and as such know what makes a film good or bad. By your logic, you should never criticize someone's RU-vid video if you haven't ever made one yourself.
I rather liked the first Scooby Doo Movie it didn't take it self very seriously and kind of parodied the series. The second one was a little more like a straight up Scooby Doo. I mean Scooby Doo isn't high art to begin with. Kruger is a quirky example. Back in the late 90s he wrote a little thriller called Arlington Road which won a Nichols Fellowship Award. For the most part he really tried to write that as rather intelligent thriller. Then he did things like Reindeer Games and The Ring and I guess he just figured that's whats gonna get him hired. Daredevil I think is a underrated I find it interesting you'd call it generic when many Marvel movies today are following the same template set by Iron Man. Daredevil was dark and gritty before Batman Begins and the Dark Knight. I also have to say it dealt with the hardships of being a hero better than the Dark Knight. Blasphemy I know. Putting the slowing of the super hero movies solely on him I think is a little much, after all there was Ang Lee's Hulk and the Fantastic Four, and the Punisher which nobody saw though I guess there was Elektra... Daredevil; it had issues yeah but I think it was a solid attempt. Ghost Rider is terrible though. Cowboys and Aliens also had like 10 other writers on board and Steven Spielberg and Ron Howard as producers that must have had it's production pulled in 20 directions after that but I thought it was a decent B movie.
Ok I feel like I'm gonna get a lot of hate from this but, I actually like Damon Lindelof, I fairly enjoyed Tomorrowland and World War Z. *grabs my Captain America shield* DON'T KILL ME!
personally i don't hate most of this director because they inspired me with there bad movies by making me angry on how bad it was, makes me wanna written something more enternaining or I could laugh at it by been an unintentional comedy but there are some director that i don't feel anything, there movies are so dry and boring that i dont feel anger nor laugh examples are like the marvel movies that are based in magic like thor and doctor strange there were dry movies that i could feel anything
I think Jason Freidberg and Aaron Seltzer are EQUALLY the worst directors ever because they made those stupid parody movies like Meet the Spartans, Disaster Movie, Epic Movie, Date Movie, The Starving Games, The Hungover Games, Best Night Ever, and Vampires Suck, which those movies freaking suck!
As much as I love you as a critic and do think your style is amazing, I just think you are hating on Shaymalan too much. He has directed the piece of shit The Last Airbender and some others that I've not seen yet, but I think he doesn't deserve to be alongside Michael Bay or Uwe Boll.
If I recall correctly, Uwe exploits a German tax loophole (he lives in Canada, but I think he still has German citizenship so I suppose he is able to take advantage the loophole due to that) in order to reclaim the losses from his films. That's how he keeps getting money.
Here's an interesting fact: It was Jason Friedberg's dad who directed Spy Hard. I'd say Friedberg definitely followed in his fathers footsteps and far surpassed him in making shit films.
I never watch movies and know very little about them but I do know about the infamous Plan 9 movie. During your intro, it did pop up in my mind for a second.
To be fair, I know you haven't seen After Earth but he's not entirely to blame for the film. Will Smith came up for the story to make his son a big star. And the movie was produced by Jaden's father, mother, and uncle. So while After Earth does have M. Night's directing seal, you can't overlook the Smith family's major involvement in the project.

I dont think i'll ever forgive Paul Weitz for the cirque du freak adaptation >.< also i'm not sure if someone suggested this but I love the idea of a top ten bcg funniest quotes x'D The beginning made me laugh so hard "Lights... Camera... Aaaaand BULLSHIT!"
I'll tell you this, Tony. In my opinion, Bo Welch (well-known for the live-action "Cat in the Hat") can be the worst director. I watched the whole film, and what do I think of the live-action "Cat in the Hat"? I did NOT have a sense of humor to that film. Nothing else to say there. That's all I have to.
In my opinion, George Lucas should've been at the top of your list, Tony, especially because of his stubborn refusal to both give us the original unaltered versions of the original Star Wars trilogy and insisting that we should appreciate the unnecessary changes he made to those films with his Special Editions and also to listen to any criticisms of his filmmaking and writing, and also because of what he did with the prequels and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull!
Actually, Lucas did later release special edition DVDs of the original STAR WARS trilogy that includes both the original versions of the films and the altered versions.
The writers who gave us Dracula 2000 and it's direct to DVD. They write the script for Terminator 5, the story was a mess and was a slap to Terminator fans. Even James Cameron even hated the movie. The movie is just a cheap attempt to milk a half dead cow till James Cameron gets the rights back. We want to see John Conner be a badass, capture Terminators to fight for him, and give Skynet a run for their money. And Skynet is a Windows 8?!!! Wtf were they smoking and drinking?!!
If the movie made money, no matter how bad the writing was, they will be hired again. Quality is not something Hollywood cares about. Now that most of their money is made in foreign and Third World markets, there is actually an argument AGAINST making anything nuanced or sophisticated. It makes more money if it's stupid.
