I'm in the minority of people who usually likes carrying around a Skeleton Key in Mario Party 3. I mean, you got 3 item slots. Keeping 1 key around in case you need it isn't much of a setback.

My predictions that wasn’t on the list were 1. Bowser bomb:Can unintentionally make someone or everyone lose all their coins(most of the time it’s usually worthless) 2. Hammer bro capsule in 5 because you don’t get the coins and you can accidentally use it on yourself 3. Warp pipe orb in 7 because you can sometimes help someone get another chance to buy an item(or on pagoda peak get a second star) 4. Wacky watch:This item is rare but can end a game early or make the game longer 5. Lucky charm:This item is also rare but you can either screw someone or yourself over by losing all your/their coins or give someone the coin lead on accident

I think the main problem with this list is the very small sample size. Only ~160 people isn't really a large enough population to reflect anyone's opinions. I mean, didn't you say #10 only got SIX votes?

I guess people didn't understand the point of this list? Also, there aren't too many items that are just straight-up bad so I suppose making a Top 10 would be difficult. Regardless, I enjoyed the vids and hope for more Mario Party vids like this to keep coming out.

The Dueling glove from MP: Star Rush is awful because you can duel for AT BEST three coins. THREE COINS. Only appears in a mode (balloon bash) where coins are ABUNDANT. And it's considered powerful by the game, what the heck?

IVE NEVER EVEN SEEN THE MIRACLE CAPSULE AND I PLAY MP5 RELIGIOUSLY

I usually used Warp Blocks just as a "last-resort" item in case I get trapped somewhere I don't want to be. As you can imagine, I usually never needed them.

The Warp Block from DS is really good. Well not actually that good, but if you're say, in the Bowser Zone on Bowser's Pinball Machine, you can get out of there with risking the 0 Curse.

And the Miracle Capsule can force you to either hope to sweep the Bonus Stars, try to get more stars by buying them...or just flat out lose

Curious. Stinkers like the warps and the keys belong here, but there sure are some omissions and odd choices. I usually found my metal shroom orbs tsking up space in 7. And nobody apart from AI dk likes the bowser bomb.

a strange thing of the pirannha plant, is that.. in mario party 5, you can, FOR SOME REASON, use it on yourself, when i saw that i thought it was in order to just directly choose who i wanted to attack, but, NO, it makes you PAY COINS, to.. ATTACK YOURSELF, which is pretty dumb.

I get the logic behind the lamp and similar items being suggested because of what it often turns the game into. It usually favors the ones already ahead, and a guaranteed teleport to the star gives a lot of power, especially when the only counter play (stealing items) is luck-based. It's a boring item but a necessary evil, being the only element of certainty in a game full of nutty nonsense

I don't know what were they thinking...magic lamp for 11th? The most helpful item in Mario party history...

The lucky lamp is terrible because it looks like it would work like the boo repellent but for a magic lamp instead and it doesn't.

The Magic Lamp was in 11th place for worst items in Mario Party? Really?! XD Wow.. just wow. I feel like the people who voted for the Magic Lamp are like Lightning haters. What I mean is, the Lightning from Mario Kart is a GREAT item for catching up, but if you are often in the front, you're usually the one to get struck by the Lightning, but that doesn't make it a bad item since it can be useful to anyone who gets it. The same applies to the Magic Lamp. If someone else gets it, that doesn't make it a bad item if that happens because you can get the item as well. The Magic Lamp in my eyes is definitely the best item in the series.

for those of you who don't know, if the player in 1st place gets all three miracle capsules, the game won't take their stars away because they triggered the event in a position other than 4th, 3rd and 2nd

The Duelling Glove (and its alternatives) can be bad. It's actually really broken in MP8, because Duello Candy can get you 2 stars if you use it and hit someone, while losing 10 coins at most if you lose after hitting them with it. Really busted there. But yeah, early Duelling Glove is bad. GameCube version is much better, duelling for stars.

Even worse with the miracle capsules, if you get it in first for some reason, you give your stars to 4th place

When did we vote on this list again? Did I even vote? I don't feel like I did anything like this because I don't trust this list. :P ...there are a few things I do agree on. Miracle capsule and any game-changing items like that are stupid. As in completely changing everything in the game.

When you showed Mario party island tour,that was the team I always use for perilous palace path

Such weird picks haha xD Some are great but some are random imo. But still interesting series! 0-1 is imo the second best dice of MP9&10 so I'm surprised it made it to the list. Totally understand for 1-2-3 tho, it's rarely useful, you'd rather want an 0-1! I wish Chaos Kamek was higher on this list because it totally ruins the board for me. But glad it made it to the list!! After thinking about it, I can see why the Lucky Lamp made it tho, you can hold unto it until someone gets to the star. If nobody has a Magic Lamp, the best strategy for the player having it is basically to put the star chase on hold! Also, you forgot a key point for the early warp blocks, you MUST use it if you wanna get rid of it and most of the time, you don't want to, which totally explains it's rank. Same for the duelling glove, especially since you cannot steal a star with it on earlier entries. For Poison Mushroom, I guess you're correct because this item seems really pointless although it's really useful in Star Rush! And finally, sad Paratroopa's orb or Goomba's orb didn't made it, I think they are both pretty bad and deserved a spot somewhere!

You do need to consider all the potential annoyances with these items for why they would make the worst list. Like, the Magic Lamp being number 11 can make sense if people consider the cost of it not worth it or they get sniped because of Magic Lamps a lot. And then items like the 1-2-3 and 0-1 Dice Block can easily make sense for the list. Sure, they have uses, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're always going to BE useful. They can just as easily be viewed as dud items as a Skeleton Key can be, seeing as how, until you get another item, those dice are just wasting space in a player's inventory and might not ever have a useful situation for it. Or the Lucky Lamp/Chomp Call, it makes sense for being on the worst list because, hey, someone moved the star I was about to get, what gives? All of these items have downsides to them that can easily be viewed as reasons for being the worst. Even the Dueling Glove, if you're on the receiving end and lose one too many duels, can be frustrating for players.

In Top 6, In Mario Party 8 on the board DK's Treetop Temple when you land on a Bowser Space, Bowser changes the location of the star, it's the same function than Chomp Call and Lucky Lamp.

I won't forget how I destroyed Peach in the Wild West Mario Party 2 board. She was about to steal my coins and then buy a star but she needed a gold mushroom and had a plunder chest, so she went to steal from Wario. But I moved first and landed on an item space where I intentionally grabbed a Skeleton Key. The star was on the right-most side where the key would be on the path beside it, so it would be a dud. She had a 50/50 shot of getting either item, got the key, and didn't move enough. What's more, she lost enough coins to where Boo didn't want to help her (I think she only had four by then) so she not only failed to steal my coins, but she failed to get a star. It was risky but it paid off giving her a dud.

The Piranha plant orb can be countered by throwing your orb on top of it. I never found this item to be a problem,

What drives me crazy in Mario Party 9: The AI gets a 1-10 or Slow Dice Block, but they have two 0-1 Dice Blocks in their inventory...but they choose to toss the 1-10 or Slow Dice Block instead of one of their 0-1’s!

The Miracle Capsule can be good, but it also is basically useless. Doesn't help that MP5 had some good items.

Miracle capsule should have first place stars shared with everyone. Since it doesn’t even help the person who is collecting them unless they are in last place. Even then it’s to OP where it feels like such a steal

While I was playing Chilly Waters on Mario Party 3 (using emulators, obviously), this was ONE of my first items USED in the board.

Piranha Plant makes no sense. Everyone was just salty. Steal half of someone's coins? Sure, TheRunawayGuys have plenty of memories of that, particularly in MP7.

Yeah, the Dueling Glove, as well as other similar items like the Duel Capsule, Duelo Candy and Duel Spaces all suck...

Whoa I have never had such an issue with the skeleton key! At least in mario party 3 you have 2 other item slots, so it's not THAT bad of an item to get. And it's useful as hell when the star or a specific space you want are behind the door. And if you're the only one who kept ahold of that crappy little key, then you have a huge advantage over the other players.

I’ll agree that the randomly picking warp blocks suck but the warp pipe which usually lets you pick via spinner isn’t so bad if you know how to control it.

As said before had this been made after Superstars, the Chomp Call would have been way higher (maybe even one?) as in Horror Land regardless of who I'm facing for AI, the AI ALWAYS picks one up to move the star so you better hope you can get the star in one dice roll.

Dueling gloves are one of my favorites. It is situational though

I believe the poison mushroom was in 1st place because in MP1 it actually makes you lose a turn, unlike the rest of the games in the series where at least you get to move 1-3 or 1-5

Poison Mushroom is useful. It can shut out opponents, especially if someone uses a reverse mushroom to try and help someone get a star steal.

The bitsize candy is my favorite item because it prints money basically

You can time roulette in Mario party 4 and 5. It can make the warp pipe much better.

These are my worst items in no order Miracle capsule- just takes up space Piranha plant and hammer bro(mp5 only)- don’t even give money to original user just steal Skeleton key- can clog up inventory but isn’t awful since(in mp3) it can be thrown away, and it can be used strategically Mario and luigi’s fireball orb(locks you out of using a movement orb for 3 turns Dueling glove(super mario party only)(super rare and only for allies) Paratroopa orb( can screw you over really easily) Metal shroom- too situational Bullet bill orb- doesn’t let you choose direction and skips all events including the star and doesn’t make it clear to user Slow shroom(op) Daisy and peach’s flower(op) The kamek orb in island tour also seems like it makes the entire game unimportant but I’ve never played island tour

The chomp call would be even higher in this list top was made after Superstars, you can get it extremely easily in that game, makes getting stars on the early game a pain until the shops start selling better dice items.

I never found a good use for the Koopa Bank orb from 5. I hated the Koopa Bank gimmick in 3 and whenever I see a Koopa Bank orb on the board, I override it with something else.

The Skeleton key is so terrible that human players forget to buy one when they play Spiny Desert Mario Party 3. Next thing you know they can't reach Boo but the Computer players and skilled players do and they start hating on Spiny Desert as a result.

I dunno the sample size is really too small to say players do or do not like these

Most items on that list got their uses, like the skeleton key in MP2 can give you 3 stars on horror land and plenty of advantages so I dont really get why it's bad and one that Im even more confused is the piranha plant orb which is like one of the best one if you want free money, sure it suck if you fall on it but yellow capsule effect suck for those who fall on it

When it comes to the skeleton key the only real reason one would use it is if the star is located on the skeleton key path

I disagree i feel like the piranha plant orb is sarasfying to use.

I used a reverse mushroom on waluigi once and he managed to get three stars taking advantage of it in mario party 3! He had over 150 coins and kept seeing boo... He did this by going to a gate without a key, passing boo, being turned around by the closed gate, seeing boo again, and them going back towards the gate at the junction (as he was I'm reverse, he could choose to go towards the gate again where your normally can't go that way). He stole 3 of my stars???!!!

The item I hated was the piranha plant oil for Mario Party 5 and the hammer bro

The Piranha Plant only sucks in 5 but in 6 it's actually really good if you get it because you can steal half of someone's coins, it can be super helpful. In 5 though you don't get anything out of using it, it's entirely luck-based if you land on your own Piranha Plant and end up screwing yourself out of half of your coins.

Warp block is even worse in Mario party 1 because it appears random on the turns

In Mario Party 4, Warp Pipes and Chomp Calls both have more use than the Sparky Sticker. It costs 15 coins, will take 10 from just a single player and it's a very difficult item to control. You also don't get the coins a player loses from it. On that note I got an Item Bag with two Swap Cards in. I needn't say why that's problematic.

Pretty sure the hate for those dice in MP9 and 10 isn't real, I'm pretty sure they're just hating on those games and only using the dice as proxy.

Most of these "worst" items have their moments and usage or am I the only MP player who loves to use cursed mushroom/dice block on themself when you have 3 good spaces ahead of you?

I think the Dueling Glove is because you can buy it in shops and it's pretty bad as a purchase-imagine spending 15 coins to bet coins on a minigame you're not even sure you'll win. 3:45 So is it the Chomp Call or the Lucky Lamp?

The Chaos Kamek isn’t that good of an item but I will never put it on a list like this because of an experience I had. I was in last place against 3 hard CPUs when I picked this item. Whomp was down to 3 HP and peach was going to win the game. It came to my turn and I had to use it as a last ditch effort to win. And just a reminder I only had a 33.3% chance of being put at the end. But Lady Luck shined on me that day as I came out of nowhere and ended up winning the game after being in last place for a majority of the race. And if you’re reading this hard CPU Peach, “Aw. Did I win?”

I played competitively with my friends back in the day. Here are the worst items per-game... MP2 .. 1st: Skeleton Key, can't throw it away, preventing players from getting another item. .. 2nd: Bowser Suit, RNG Dice makes it nearly impossible to use properly, and costs way too many coins to buy. .. 3rd: Warp Block, not exactly a bad item, but the 15 coin cost just to swap places with another at random just isn't worth it. MP3 .. 1st: Bowser Suit, same problem as MP2. RNG dice rolls prevents proper utilisation. .. 2nd: Lucky Lamp, waste of space. .. 3rd: Plunder Chest, not being able to pick what item is stolen makes it rather useless when opponents have 2 or 3 items. MP4 .. 1st: Mini Mushroom, sometimes you don't even roll the number needed to reach the pipe... .. 2nd: Bowser Suit, same problem as MP2 and MP3. RNG dice rolls prevent proper utilisation. .. 3rd: Sparky Sticker, pay 15 coins to cause somebody else to lose 10 coins? Naw! I can't think of any drawbacks at all! MP5 .. 1st: Miracle Capsule, waste of space. Takes too long to build up, and way too much RNG. .. 2nd: Mr. Blizzard Capsule, the Capsule Machine and dice rolls are way to RNG in this game for this to be reliable. .. 3rd: Cursed Mushroom Capsule, MP5 is difficult to achieve high number rolls due to how random everything is. This isn't going to help. MP6 .. 1st: Metal Mushroom Orb, traps are usually not a problem or too few to be a problem. This item is a waste of space. .. 2nd: Thwomp Orb, What's the point in stopping an opponent in place? If you must move more than an opponent it's better to use a Shroom instead. .. 3rd: Podoboo Orb, 10 coin loss really isn't a whole lot compared to the damage an orb space can do, and this orb only works once. MP7 (it's the exact same as MP6) .. 1st: Metal Mushroom Orb, traps are usually not a problem or too few to be a problem. This item is a waste of space. .. 2nd: Thwomp Orb, What's the point in stopping an opponent in place? MP8 Didn't play enough of this game. MP9 .. 1st: 123 Block, this is the only bad item in the game. In MP9; it's all rolling those high numbers or not rolling at all. And since the 01 Block surpasses in no rolls, the 123 takes the dump.

I disagree with Skeleton Key. It won me games. And for Pete’s sake, it's the only way to get stars reliably in Mystery Land, don't even try and deny that.

Worst item is golden pipes in super Mario party. Why the game thought it was a good idea to make the most overpowered item in the game 10 coins and not put in some sort of rubber banding system where a players standing affects their odds of it showing up in the item shop, I’ll never know

Well the magic lamp IS one of the worst items. It removes the board machanic by just warping you to the star. I guess its good for people who dont like to play mario party

The Duel Glove actually depends on the game. Mainly on the Duel Minigames...but it sucks in Top 100\Star Rush as you have 2\3 a chance at playing a luck microgame. Crazy Kamack sucks...period. Miracle Capsule isn't a very good item; especially if you get three of them WHILE in First Place! It's an item that can utterly destroy the user! O-1 block & Poison Mushroom...why are they so hated? Both are quite useful in case you're caught in a tricky situation. Plus, they can stack in certain games which can be a pain for any target you sick it on!
