It is pretty boring to be fair, the riffs are too repetitive and it's literally just a couple of notes, on top of all that, keep saying tick tick tick tick is annoying, and my lifestyle determines my deathstyle are probably the worst cringey lyrics James has ever written

Yeah the snare sucks, but it is a st anger song. Also the lyrics are very creative to me. like the tick tick tick tock part is very outside the box for me. and the clean singing part is cool.
I love Metallica with all my heart, and they're one of the bands that defined my childhood, but they've probably put out as many duds as they put out bangers. Love the list as well as your content man, everytime I see a new video, it makes my day. Keep up the great work.

You know what, I agree. It's the only one I disagree with on this list, but I can understand why people wouldn't like it with its slow pacing and odd melodies and effects.
I hear what your saying about whisky in the jar, personally I kinda like it, but at the time I heard it first they used to play it in pubs around Christmas time surrounded by tons of crappy christmas songs, so maybe I was more happy to just hear some Metallica, plus Thin Lizzy are kinda cool in there own right, atleast it gives off a kinda cheerful atmosphere that you can drink afew too., I wouldn't choose to listen to it very often or anything but I would take it over the whole of St anger and most of load and reload
Great video. I have never understood the "this band is my favorite, so I love everything the make" mentality. It is ok to enjoy what the make, but I think fan should hold them to hold the to some standard of quality. A couple of controversial picks I have for worst Metallica songs I have are Eye Of The Beholder and To Live Is To Die.

Lux Aeterna should've been on Hardwired and would've been a better Lemmy tribute. I'm surprised to not see anyone talk about this, but it is basically Overkill by Motorhead. Same drum beat, and fake out endings. Someone should really make a mashup video.
Enter Sandman was the only real metal song that would play on St. Louis radio, so it's through them I became a metalhead. That said, they've released a lot of bad music. If nothing else, Hetfield's voice has been fried for something like 25 years doesn't help

If I chose any song from St Anger to be the worst, it would be “Some Kind Of Monster” and “Sweet Amber”. I wouldn’t have chosen Frantic because Frantic is the only song on the whole album that I actually enjoy. I’m not joking
Solid list! I am a certified Metallica fan, I enjoy all albums and most songs and at 16, they're my fav band of all time. While I disagree with a good few of your picks, like Frantic, Where The Wild Things Are and Ain't My Bitch (i quite like them, I think there are worse songs of theirs) your list was solid and I agree with a good few as well. Off the top of my head my top 5 least favorites would be Invisible Kid, Low Man's Lyric, Murder One, Purify and in all honesty, If Darkness Had A Son. It's painfully long and dull. I can jam to it but holy shit I needed the 72 Seasons track to be reinterested in the new album again. Snoozefest! By the way, do you plan on listening to a review copy before release?
I mean, I hear that exact claim everytime they put out a new album. I'm sure its fine, but I'm just not really pumped, much more music I'd rather talk about like Jesus Piece, Dodheimsgard, VoidCeremony, etc.

One is legitimately there most overrated song though and you know everyone listens to it waiting the 3 to 4 minutes or whatever it is just to get to the heavy part at the end, which isn't even that impressive it just goes hard, have to say though one of kirks best solo's, but the majority of the song is a snorefest

Saint anger will forever be the worst Metallica album IMO. Say what you want about load/reload death magnetic and lulu (which I agree with you there) they are LEAGUES better than Saint anger. Good video BTW
Here's my list (not ranking based on numbers): 10 - Slither: Song literally doesnt go anywhere, I find it the worst track they have ever released. 9 - Purify: Absolute shitfest of a chorus, unfocused and muddy verse with a decent outro riff ruined by a terribly sloppy drum part. 8 - Eye Of The Beholder: Personally, find this tune to be completely aimless and a lowkey snorefest, I genuinely dont get people's obsession over it. 7 - Attitude: The other big dud on ReLoad, possibly with the most cringe inducing chorus on the album . 6 - The End Of The Line - One of the first song from them I ever heard but even nostalgia bias cant remove how the it's 8 minutes of random riff salad with a great intro and a good clean breakdown (plus the Rick Rubin approved earrape mix on top). 5 - Hardwired's entire Disc 2 (save for Spit Out The Bone): Mindless and aimless songs that last for double the lengths they should, I genuinely cant remember their content besides their main riff or chorus here and there. 4 - If Darkness Had A Son: Alot of people already took the absolute piss with this one and for a very good reason, literally feels like if ChatGPT was tasked to write a modern era tune for them. 3 - Metal Militia: Incredibly annoying vocals and for how amazing the song title is, the riffs are lowkey lame and uninspired. 2 - Harvester of Sorrow: Another one that will get me burned alive, I just genuinely hate this song, and has almost all the classic Metallica duds in their songwriting alas - unnecessary amount of buildup for a mediocre payoff (the main riff is straight up shit and downright annoying) and ALOT of repeating. People give crap to their new stuff repeating alot but this has been a issue since the very early days on some tracks already and this is one of them. 1 - Screaming Suicide: For a subject so dark and somber, the tone is almost offendingly happy and upbeat, and this song is the prime example of James and Lars starting to completely lose their ability to properly write buildup -> tension -> release as a concept, as the song consistently blueballs me with the pre chorus and chorus going somewhere then completely wasting it with a botched attempt at going back to the verse. Horrible song and it makes me worried how the rest of 72 Seasons will fare.
I found an ok list, I just disagree with your choices on Load and Reload, I would put Poor Twisted Me, Attitude and Better than You and instead of Frantic, I would choose Purify and add Shoot Me Again. I just don't think the Whiskey In The Jar cover is the worst Garage Inc song because it has Loverman.
My take on each song on this list: 1. Ain’t My Bitch: Not great, but still kinda fun, far worse songs on Load like Poor Twisted Me, Cure, and Hero of the Day 2. Where The Wild Things Are: I absolutely love this song, love how unique and heartfelt it is 3. Whiskey in the Jar: Don’t love it as much as most, but not a bad cover 4. Frantic: Love this song, best on St.Anger, would be a classic without that production 5. Invisible Kid: This song is terrible, not as bad as Purify and My World, but still really bad 6. Suicide & Redemption: Their weakest instrumental song, but not one of their worst overall, would’ve picked My Apocalypse from Death Magnetic as my least favorite there 7 & 8. The View & Iced Honey: Never listened to anything other than The View on Lulu cuz it was too painful 9. Murder One: Pretty bad, not as bad as ManUNkind and Am I Savage imo 10. Blackened 2020: not good, but hard to consider this a legit song
Lol off of Load, Reload and St Anger Invisable Kid is the only song on any of those albums I can tolerate. I do agree on Whiskey in a jar I hate that song. You may have been better doing 10 so songs you like since the Black album. To difficult to pick the top 10 worse songs with all the slop they have put out in the last 30 years.

I'll also won't count covers, because there's also a lot of songs from Garage Inc I don't like but that's because I don't like the original songs, not because Metallica did anything wrong. These are all the ones I probably wouldn't hear again after the first time, but all the other "lesser" songs I can still listen to again every once in a while
I agree with" Inivisible Kid", but I think "Shoot me Again" deserves the slot for next worst on that album. The "shoot me again, shoot me again, i ain't dead yet!" part just makes me cringe. "Murder One" is not the worst song on Hardwired though. For whatever reason, I can't stand "Now that We're Dead" or "ManUnKind". Everything else was either ok or good. (Which is why I'm actually looking forward to 72 Seasons)
I believe their good to bad song ratio is probably somewhere around 80-20 or maybe 75-25. If I had to pick ten songs I liked the least, Reload, St. Anger and LULU would dominate the list. Here's my ranking 10. Unforgiven II: This song is not bad but it does not live up to the original Unforgiven. It's just not it. 9. Suicide and Redemption: This song feels like an eternity. 9 minutes and 58 seconds feel like 20 minutes when I listen to this song. 8. Slither: I have no idea what the hell is going on in this song. it's just plain weird. 7. If Darkness Had a Son: This song sounds like an AI wrote it. That's all. Funny thing you mention Godsmack as I thought they did a similar song. Something with B--h in the title. i think it might have been one of sully's "I hate Niki Sixx" songs.
One thing in common have most of the songs since St. Anger is... That the songs are over 6 minutes. I know Metallica in their golden years was used to make long songs but worked well because the band was in their prime, while in Black Album they shortened the songs and worked fantastic. But at least for me, many songs are unnecessary long, specially on both St. Anger and Death Magnetic. StA is a massive headache, and while DM was an improvement, the production and length of the songs hurt the final product. I loved Hardwired and enjoyed the long songs, but the previews of the new 72 Seasons left me worried because I feel certain songs don't need to be that long.

Actually i agree with meltdown. That song is really weird, i actually don't like it. It's just my opinion. I would actually like to know what ppl see in this song. It has over 300M plays on Spotify and i think songs like Fixxer, Escape, Trapped, Straw, Fight fire with fire do deserve that. I don't hate Whiskey but it just isn't for me :/
I've always loved Ain't My Bitch - one of my favourites from Load! Coincidentally I also yell at kids to get off my lawn, make casually racist remarks to family over dinner, and love monster trucks.

Will have to respectfully disagree on some of these, Frantic and S&R most especially, but otherwise fair list. I do think that there are even songs from their heyday that would fit better, at least for me. Escape most prominently should be somewhere on that list, and if I'm being honest, probably To Live is To Die or Eye of The Beholder I find worse than something like Murder One and Ain't My Bitch.
I respect everyone's opinions and i kind of agree and disagree with this list. I love S and Redemption, Wild Things. Frantic is good. I don't like Whiskey in the Jar either and don't understand what the band or some people see in this song, it would be in my top 10 or 20 worst of their songs but i wouldn't count it since it's a cover. Poor Twisted Me should have been here, i hate that song. If Darkness had a son and You must burn are really bad as well
Here’s my ranking: 10. 2X4. Feels so over the top southern rock, like a parody of it, which makes it worse when you realise that they were being serious when making this song. It has a groove, but I just really dislike it. 9. Attitude. Annoying riff, some truly awful lyricism, overall just an annoying song to listen to honestly. 8. Better Than You. Repetitive lyricism, boring riff, overall just a snooze fest. 7. Purify. Never listened to this song in its entirety, because I get a headache from this album. But the little I have heard, just terrible. Incredibly repetitive, not to mention the beer keg drums, screaming vocals, gaah. 6. The End Of The Line. Out of all the songs on DM, this one never managed to impress me. Some riffs are cool, but they never feel like they get anywhere, and James singing doesn’t sound very good on this one. 5. The Judas Kiss. Love the chorus riff, one of my favourite riffs by Metallica *ever*, but the rest of the song is incredibly mid, which is why I have such a big problem with it. So much potential thrown out the window. 4. Now That We’re Dead. Never liked this song. Main riff isn’t to my taste, the drumming is honestly quite annoying, lyrics fail to impress me, overall quite a boring song to me. 3. Murder One. For similar reasons as you say. But for me, this being a song made in the spirit of Lemmy Kilmister, kinda disappointing. 2. You Must Burn! Disappointed by it, maybe because my expectations were set too high. Pre-release reviews compared it a lot to Sad But True, but to me it’s no where close. Instead, the song is just a slow burn that never evolves. 1. Screaming Suicide. Also failed to impress me, and feels like a bad impression of Death Magnetic.
I wouldn't say these are my least favorite songs, but they sure aren't my favorite either. A funny take nonetheless. Where the Wild Things Are is an interesting song to me, where Murder One is not. The entire St. Anger and Lulu records are laughable at best. Most of their other material ranges from solid to brilliant. That's my take as a 30 plus year fan.
Murder One is their worst in my opinion. There's an idea for an intro and verse but the rest sounds completely unfinished. Drags on for forever. Every other metallics song I've found to be at the very least, fine. And I think that goes for St Anger. Never had a problem w that album.

If I had to pick a song from Load it would be The Cure. Reload would be Bad Seed. St Anger would be Purify. Nothing from Death Magnetic. That album rocks. Ok all of Lulu can suck it. From Hardwired would be Murder One. Yeah was not a fan of Blackened 2020. Agreed. Honorable mentions: The Struggle Within and Thorn Within. I know I'm in the minority here but I like St Anger a lot it's all riff, the production sucks but I can live with it.
Damn fine list. Two additional (dis)honorable songs to add to this list for me would be Fuel and I Disappear. Those songs make me sick to my stomach when I hear them. I know they are loved by the masses but I think they are atrociously bad.
Totally disagree with fuel nowhere close to a worst 10, if anything that's one of only 3 songs from the load reload era that actually resembled metal or sounded inspired in any way whatsoever, the other 2 being until it sleeps and the memory remains, the rest of those albums are alot worse. Hence why fuel still has a place in there setlist and hardly anything else from the 90s has at all

Off Load, I might actually go with The House That Jack Built. Just really boring. For Reload, yeah, I agree. Strongly disagree with you on Whiskey in the Jar, and would instead choose So What, for being pure edgelord cringe, For two off St. Anger, I will go with the closers, Purify and All Within My Hands. Aimless and headache-inducing. Off Death Magnetic, I agree. Also agree for both Lulu and Hardwired. Blackened 2020 I did not know about, but it sounds like an awful idea. For 72 Seasons now . . . I'm not sure I would pick any. That is not to say it is a masterpiece of an album, as I think Hardwired is far more memorable, and has bigger highlights, but 72 Seasons pretty much consistently achieves good but not great status (except for Immorata, which is legitimately great).
I just absolutely love the fact that people don't understand that if it wasn't for "St. Anger" Metallica wouldn't even be releasing a new album. Death Magnetic is only overrated to you which makes you the odd one out on that one. I'm going to strongly disagree with you on "Ain't my Bitch" and "Frantic". Those songs are an excellent way to kick off an album. I'll also very strongly disagree with you on "Murder One" because it's got a great vibe to it and the main riff for that song has a great groove to it. And "Whiskey In the Jar" shouldn't count because it's a cover song, and definitely a really good cover too.
We can recognize that an album is important without having to love it. Case in point, I fully understand how important "St. Anger" was to them in the early 2000's and how important in some ways it still is. But I still think its an awful album, and I am not obligated to think otherwise contrary to what you seem to imply.
I honestly would rather listen to load and reload than anything from dm or hardwired. Ive never heard anything from st anger other than frantic and i still have yet to listen to the new album
