My opinion includes characters from filler arcs also just in case you don't recognise them. This is based on best actual duelist not the most powerful.
@@things9407 kinda, i will not put Alister, Raphael, Dartz since they're not canon to story, also for yami marik he's not that good duelist, and relying to ra too much so he will be more lower.
@@amamiyaharuto8407yami marik is solid, there's a reason why he has 1/3 of the Egyptian god cards, but I agree with the non cannon characters not being there
Just my opinion, but I'd swap Yugi and Atem. Yes, Yugi did defeat Atem at the end of the series, but I believe he was literally the only person that could have defeated him at that time. After Atem regained his memories, he was UNSTOPPABLE and probably would have wrecked anyone else that would have dueled him during the ceremonial duel. But Yugi knew him better than anyone else, and knew what to do to defeat him. Does it make him a better duelist than Atem? I'm not so sure. I think Atem is still the best duelist in the series even though he lost his last match against his partner. If they dueled 10 times, I think Atem would still come out on top the majority of the time. At the very least, I'd say they are probably tied for #1. Agreed with the rest of the list, though I'd probably have Jonouchi ranked a little bit higher.
In raw power and abilities, Atem is 1st. He can change his fate and bring the card he needs to his hand. (Powerful.) But Yugi is the 1st in terms of skill and dueling ability. He outsmarted Atem in their final duel and ended up winning. Atem and Yugi knew each other equally well, so they both had that same advantage over each other. And Yugi beat Kaiba is the movie. So Kaiba is not in this discussion. It is between Yugi and Atem. Power Atem Skill Yugi Dueling Tied
@@haller1580 If you want to count that, that’s fine. I personally don’t, just because it’s a filler arc. However, I don’t have anything against the people who do.
Joey will be just behind kaiba according to me because even though his deck mainly focuses on luck but hey luck's a part of skill too and Joey proved multiple times he can actually hold his own against major villains but the plot never seemed to favour him. 😊
Swap Mai with Ishizu, her milenium necklace gives her ability to see the future. She was toying with Kaiba but Kaiba managed to change his destiny mid duel. She can easily beat Mai. Ishizu 9 Pegasus 10
I think you should swap Alister and Joey. Alister gave a bit of trouble to Kaiba, good but Joey is ranked the 3rd best duelist in history, and he gave Kaiba a good duel… with half a deck, cos his main deck was locked away by crush card. Half deck Joey= Alister Full power Joey>Alister But besides that, a good list
It's just Pegasus created the card game and probably has knowledge of a lot of decks which he probably knows how to counter and has a lot of experience with difficult duels with opponents such as Yugi and Kaiba. He's able to make a toon version of any of his opponents monsters with the same atk and def while being able to attack directly. I can't remember when but there was one turn where Valon had no defense and took all of Joey's attacks being lucky it wasn't a one turn kill don't get me wrong Valon's good but that's my opinion.
@@things9407 I get that pegasus created the game and he has strategies to counter certain decks, but does he have one to valon to counter valons psychic armor deck? Have he even heard of that deck? Plus, just because he created the game doesn't mean he can't be beaten. Hell, mai dominated him with the power of the seal of orichalcos. I'd argue valon is stronger than mai. Although you do have a point with difficult duels with yugi and kaiba, I feel like that had more to do with his millennium eye giving him an edge rather than his deck or his skill. I'm not trying to undermine his dueling prowess or his but, think about it. He only beat kaiba in duelist kingdom because of the eye and was also giving yami a hard time because of said eye as well. He mainly had a leg up due to be able to having the power to read peoples thoughts and know what move they're going to make before they make it. Can he really have done so well against them without that advantage? I... doubt it if I'm being completely honest with you. How can he a surefire strategy and be able to plan ahead if he doesn't know what cards they're going to be able to play? That's what I think anyway. Pegasus is strong, but I feel like valon was on a different league, especially since he nearly defeated Joey, who was at the peak of his prime in the orichalcos arc.
@@earlrice8095 Good point don't have any real response to argue with but if I missed anything I'll let you know but I agree with your opinion thanks for the explanation.
@@things9407 sure. Plus, I do understand how hard it might be to scale some of these characters since either some of their dueling prowess, strength, and cards are based on supernatural means, extreme luck, or very op monsters like divine serpent geh or the Egyptian God cards Not to say they suck at dueling or they don't rely on skill, but a good chunk of characters in the show get a certain leg up in some regards due to the supernatural boost they get, like pegasus. Once you take that away, a lot of their strength goes along with it, and they're not as strong as they were in the peak of their prime. That reason alone makes it hard to rank some of these characters. Plus, I only called it out since I think valon is underrated in terms of how strong he is. You're not the only person to not have him in the top 10 strongest list. While he may not have had much screen time, like rafael and alister, I feel like he did enough to solidify how much of an intimidating powerhouse he can be and how powerful he was throughout the arc, especially since he dominated rebecca and Duke, two talented duelists in their own right. Still a very good list, though.
Marik should be behind like Mako. He was difficult because he had insanely broken versions of cards. Like Ra with its 18 bajillion secret effects and invisible ink Hieratic and eternal life, no LP cost revival jam. He’s actually really bad at duel monsters.
Pegasus is so hard to place cause are you going off millennium eye version or not? If he has the eye he’s probably top 5 if not probably outside this top 10.
It's without the items this is based on their dueling skill with Pegasus creating the card game having knowledge of a lot of archetypes as well as his toon cards being able create new toon forms of existing cards like when he made toon blue eyes white dragon.
@@things9407thats fair. I'd probably still put Pegasus higher than Yami Bakura. Yami Bakura never really beat anyone of major skill seemed like he only beat weak opponents through fear.
for everyone who says yugi have beaten atem in the dark dimension movie yugi litteraly got his ass kicked if atem would have not appeared it yould have been the end of the world so stop using this line of yugi did beat atem its getting old and its unvalid
In a duel he did beat Atem Dark side of Dimensions Yugi wasn't losing in the duel but losing the physical ability to continue dueling that's a clear difference in dueling skill Yugi beat Atem this is when Yugi is able to duel and it wasn't causing any damage to the duelist this video is top 10 duelist based on duel iq not strongest duelist in power.
@@things9407I think Ishizu should be number 10 and all the others should be moved up. She could beat 99% of duelists due to her milenium necklace, it’s just Kaiba can change his destiny mid duel that led to her downfall. And if we’re not using power items, she still had a strong deck and a strong dueling IQ. She can’t nearly beat Kaiba with a deck of 100 attack point monsters now can she. Necklace or not, she should still be in this top 10
Yugi literally beat Atem and I don't think he was holding Yugi back because at times they both worked together and Yugi probably gained confidence to now fight his own battles which he didn't have before while Atem gained Kindness from Yugi.
No he’s not. Joey, Kaiba, Yugi would all have beaten him in battle city. So way back then he wasn’t even in the top 3. Then after several arcs, Joey Kaiba Yugi all get stronger, so by the end of the series, they would trash Marik He deserves to be 7.
nice joke kid marik is the top 1 and all this fodders are just his victims lol , marik is clearly negs comp yugioh like nothing so go cry about that@@georgie545
@@Puckett.Disgaree Marik was dueling Joey no holding back you see the surprise in his face while saying he was about to lose he never claimed he should've ended him quickly or shouldn't have been holding back the only reason he won was because it was a shadow game and Joey has gotten much stronger since battle city as a duelist and Joey in battle city was about to beat Marik which is why I think Joey should be rankes higher.
