The Longest Journey is my personal alltime favourite. I played it first shortly after release, it was a complete coincidence. My mom had picked it up because of the art on the box and because we enjoy Adventures games. I was blown away! The setting in two worlds, stunning graphical design, the gripping story, the memorable characters! It was everything I love and to this day, I keep coming back to the game. It's so good! From this video, I also enjoyed Black Mirror and Gabriel Knight 2. The others I might have to check out at some point. :D

And by process of elimination, and games you talk about a lot, I expect your top 10 will look something like this: 10 Curse of Monkey Island 09 Sherlock Holmes - The Lost Files 2 - The Case of the Rose Tattoo 08 Monkey Island 2 - Lechuck's Revenge 07 Day of the Tentacle 06 Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis 05 Broken Sword - The Shadows of the Templar 04 Grim Fandango 03 Secret of Monkey Island 02 King's Quest VI - Absence Makes the Heart go Yonder 01 Gabriel Knight - Sins of the Fathers Maybe some hopeful thinking of mine to put 2 Sierra games at the top over Monkey Island, but there it is, It's hard to argue the merit of these 10 games. It leaves no room for Space Quest 3, or King's Quest 4 - unexpected, but I'm OK with that - they have some issues that make them not as great as in our memory. These are also very deserving games which could show up, but I'm guessing not: Fran Bow Obduction Conquests of Camelot Neverhood Lamplight City Inherit the Earth - Quest for the Orb Dropsy Unavowed Death Gate Calahan's Crosstime Saloon
@@MagusMarquillin that’s a pretty good observation. I have not played Space Quest 3, nor have I seen a let’s play on it. I can’t believe I omitted conquest of Camelot. More observations soon.
@@AdventureGameHotspot Well, you'll probably have to adjust this when Return to Monkey Island comes out - you could make some other adjustments at the same time. And there's still a chance to slip something into #65. :)
@@AdventureGameHotspot I assume 65 is Conquests of Camelot since it's shown in the outro of 61-70 with the other 9 games. (didn't cover 65 in the video).
Another great video, Joshua! - I played The Longest Journey for the first time last year and enjoyed it. I didn't need a walkthrough for the infamous rubber ducky puzzle; must be getting more experienced with moon logic. - Sherlock Holmes and Riven were games I played in school but didn't finish until picking them up again last year. Great games, especially Riven which holds up graphically today, is one of the most intricately designed games and a great example of puzzles integrated perfectly into the world building (albeit damn hard). - I think out of all the LucasArts remasters, Full Throttle might be the most impressive looking, if only for the remodeled bikes. Yes, very short and easy, but oozes style. "Yeah, when I think of Maureen, I think of two things: asphalt... and trouble."
Looking forward very much to your TOP 10 adventure games - I'm excited! Some time ago I made a video about the five best adventure games (from LucasArts) - and I foresee what could come up now! :) Video liked and subscribed to the channel. :)
@@AdventureGameHotspot its from 1990, it was my introduction as a kid do adventure games, but the game has a very adult story and a lot of mistery envolved in the plot. Play it, if you love adventure games, i guarantee you wont waste your time. :)
>2d and hand-drawn only for the backgrounds, characters are rigged 3D models. Thanks for this series by the way, I found a lot of great games thanks to it and I wish it got more views
@@AdventureGameHotspot 😂🤣 I’m just messing of course, it was clearly a slip of the tongue. I’m watching this countdown in order atm and very much enjoying it. Currently on the top 10. 🙂
