The Ra'nodaire is just a gorgeous ship. Being able to launch the Romulan drone ships is just a plus.

I think the Kholhr looks a lot nicer with the material from the Ra'nodaire than its original metallic green look.

Don't dismiss the support frigate pets. I put them on my scimitar as hangar pets because they debuff and enemies with suppressing fire and viral matrix.

I, too, think the Ha'apax line of warbirds would have made better Romulan Republic Flagships than the Scimitar line. They are not tied to the villain in the worst TNG movie, are not tied to the terrible "lets make everything spiky!" trend in Romulan design that culminated in the Narada's formless spikes of doom, and with some modern design work would look really cool. They would have also made the Romulan Flagships very distinctive in how they operate, appropriate for the recovering society. Frankly, the Ha'apax Class ships also remind me of the older Vulcan D'Kyr Class with its support craft and thus help tie the Republic to the Reunification Movement more thoroughly. They have GOT to start offering non-bundle versions of the older Legendary ships. At a premium, of course, but they would still sell enough more of them that it would be worth it.

I personally don't like the Ha'apax design, because I find it too bulky, and if I had to decide what the Romulan republic's flagship should be, it would definitely be the Operation Command Warbirds line (Vastam, Baratan, Deihu).static.wikia.nocookie.net/sto_gamepedia/images/8/8e/Tactical_Command_Warbird_-_In_orbit_of_New_Romulus.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/1000?cb=20190706184103

With the Scimitars, I always assumed that most of them were, originally, "borrowed" from the Romulan Star Empire considering that a lot of their ships were acquired that way, and snagging a shipyard full of prototypes is something that fits considering what the Remans were up to in the game
@gameoverinsertcointocontin8102
@gameoverinsertcointocontin8102 5 месяцев назад
I think that is probably true for many of the largest Romulan ships. The shipbuilding capacity of the Republic is limited so they likely focus on small but efficient designs. With the Empire refusing to learn the lesson and doubling and quadrupling down on building it large and heavy. That being said, the Republic might be tempted to liberate a few Scimitars and support carriers that were near completion.
@thomasjoychild4962
@thomasjoychild4962 Месяц назад
Yeah, I've also always assumed the Lleiset (sp?) and the Republic's other Scimitars were originally intended to join Shinzon's original as the Empire's new big whacking sticks but their construction got halted at mostly-done-but-not-quite when he died and they just sat around unfinished while the senate tried to put together the Empire again after the mess he'd caused. They later got appropriated sometime after the Hobus supernova by/with the help of the Reman shipyard workers (IIRC I remember shipbuilding as being one of the many dangerous and borderline-slavery jobs the Star Empire had Remans doing) for the Republic. I'm also pretty sure that none of the Republic's Scimitars had their thalaron weapons installed, or had them decommissioned in short order once the Republic got hold of them. The neighbours absolutely wouldn't have let the Republic keep those weapons and I think D'tan would be personally opposed to them anyway.

I acknowledge I'm in the minority on this one, but I actually quite like the Eternal visually. Has a nice distinct profile that makes it easy to keep track of firing angles even zoomed all the way out. It just needs a good cosmetic like the Jem'hadar shield to give it a better colour scheme.

The Cardassisan Intel FDC must be one of the best Surgical Strikes platforms currently. 2 hangar bays for 2 elite type 7 shuttlecrafts, 7 isomags, and can fit in a good amount of uncon triggers.

Definitely one of the strongest carriers in game atm. Only thing it cannot do at all is EPG/control. But in terms of DEW/pet builds, it's a really capable platform now. Surgical strikes gives you decent DEW single target performance even if you spec it pet heavy, as long as your CritD is high enough.

With regards to the LCDR seat on the Support Carrier (and any ship in general really): Any time I can get Torpedo Spread III (Or, rarely used these days High Yield III I suppose) I'm happy. While I love the Silik, and I do, I also found the Pralim to be very surprising. Small and very nimble as well as a full Carrier. Surprised me very much when I got it on a lark. I also slotted in a S31 vanity shield I got from a lockbox and made it look _so_ good.

the scimitar makes sense for the republic, they were build by the remans, some of them work with the republic. also just because the crazy bold boy hat weapons of mass destruction on his ship doesnt mean every scimitar has them. personaly i feel like they are a bit like super star destroyers in star wars, incredibly powerful and a valuable asset for every involved side no matter what crime they were made for or had been used for.
@peterhans3791
@peterhans3791 5 месяцев назад
the movies built them up to be beasts even without thalaron weaponry. Of course, the bulk of the ship is basically a giant thalaron array (the wings) so there is some dodgy construction going on here, like the roms want to have the option of throwing some thalaron around if they need it without everyone noticing...kind of like how the us navy made nuclear artillery shells for battleships.

@adambrown6669

I think what should happen is that every T5 ship that lacks a T6 variant should just be upgraded to T6 with better stats and a trait, the rest should just be removed with the T6 versions given the classic skins as default and all the T5 or lower consoles built in. Then a pass should be done over every older outdated ship, all their stats revamped, traits updated and so on to bring them up to par with current ships with special focus given to anything that is an official trek ship. Any lockbox/promo/lobi store ship released prior to 2020 should be moved to the c-store and made available for 4000 zen per ship, if you already own it then you get to just claim an account unlock for free. All lockbox ships down the line would follow this trend annually with each new batch costing 6000 per ship for the first year and then 4000 afterwards so to still give STO the idea that people will still buy lockboxes. To add to a sense of unity among the community, ships purchased from the c-store will not be bound to account until opened, allowing them to be gifted to friends or traded on the exchange. And then yes, more ships for non federation factions that are A: not god awful abominations like the Fehklir and orion garbage scows and B: look like ships that you'd see on the show unlike half of the T6ified klingon and Romulan weirdness we have currently.

I'd like to point out that the "Cascading Gravimetrc Disruptions" Console is NOT the "Grav Well on a Stick". THAT comes from the M'Chla Pilot Bird of Prey or Shran Pilot Light Escort. This one is the same console as the Earheart, it shoots out a red bolt that chains a few times and then pulls together targets it hit.

Very good list, I'm using (or used to use) a lot of ships from here :) Personally I'd add KDF Qib Intel Cruiser together with Faeht (as both are part of the same expansion pack), Fleet T6-X2 variant can have up to 7 isomags, 4 tac consoles, 5 device slots, commander ENG/Intel sitting, a battlecloak, can eguip cannons, has a decent starship mastery pacakage and it can take some beating. The biggest downside is eng heavy seating (although Surgiacal Strikes III and few other int skills sevearly compensate for this) and 4/4 weapon layout.

I have my gripes with the Scimitar, (it's not even a Romulan ship. It's Reman.) But it makes sense that the Romulan flagship would be the biggest and most imposing ship they have. The Ha'Apax is more of a workhorse ship, seeing as they're everywhere and do everything the tiny ships can't. I'd also love a legendary version, but I doubt we'll get one.

The Eternal. Khopesh Scimitar (Legendary Scimitar would be better for energy builds). The Engineering pilot escorts. The Qib intel battlecruiser. The Silik Flight deck assault carrier. The Jemmie Vanguard Warship. The Malem and Morrigu. Kurak would be 11th.

The Khopesh was the first Cstore ship I bought. I really enjoyed it but it hasn't been in use for some time due to me always using it and my KDF Cardassian Engineer flies the Fleet Orion Blackguard, I love that one which makes me want to get the Suliban Silik and the Pralim version as well due to how good they all look and perform(for me anyway)! Also I bought the Cardassian Intel Bundle a few days ago because I've been eyeing it for some time, I really enjoy the Intel Flight Deck Carrier with the Spiral Disruptors(expensive though) Incase anyone else plays on console. They started a sale on ship bundles and Mudd's Market has some returning Bundles for a limited time (no 10th Anniversary Bundle though...)

I'm saddened that I have most of your list already -Temporal Warship. Picked up the hoover and loved it, but man is that Kopesh pretty and I have been tempted to drop a coupon on it just for my rom. -Support carrier. I agree, The romulan one is prettiest, but I just can not fly it to save my life. -Fhaeht intel. Picked this up in fleet on my f2p alt account and it hits pretty hard even with untraited SS. Still looks nice too. That low HP is the only downside...and no mirror coating(my f2p rom is mirror themed) -Kara. I love the t6 Ha'pax! it's like they crammed the maximum amount of gimmicks into a ship: battle cloak, hangar bay, singularity, multi-vector(the best saucer seperation, thank Q for all those T5 coupons), a plasma lance, and it's huge. I have this on my main account and am grinding out fleet modules on my f2p account to have it there too (and it has a mirror version for that sweet mirror coating). As someone who has treated buying legendries as therapy, this is actually my favorite Romulan ship even if it isn't my hardest hitting. -Cardassian intel flight deck carrier. It's a good ship, but It's just never clicked with me. I get use out of that trait though -Eternal. Thanks to my good friend Mudd I have the Verne, but I do keep coming back to the eternal. it's a nice sci platform and it has a hangar bay.

At this point, and as of the typing of this comment, I have all but two of the legendary ships (The only two I don't have are the Jem'Hadar and Romulan captain bundles that take you straight to 65 because of the price tags). I say this because it has gotten to the point where, with a few exceptions, I find that I'm almost always flying a legendary ship. Now, my Main toon is working her way through them all to T6 mastery for the account trait unlocks but I typically end up just flying one of my legendaries which is just about the only "downside" in my opinion of them... that you (or at least _I_ ) have accidentally begun to neglect my other non-legendary ships. In the case where it's a legendary of an already existing ship such as the Defiant I don't feel as bad because hey, I'm not really neglecting the T6 defiant by flying the Legendary defiant. There's also the case of the Legendary Intrepid which is... actually not as good as the Terran Trailblazer in some respects (Notably the Trailblazer has a 4/3 weapons layout and an Agony Lance) or the Legendary Odyssey not being as good as the Lexington (not having the Lance again for one) (and of course the whole you can still only activate the Chevron sep OR the Aquarius at one time which is lame and outdated at this point) et cetera. Anyone else find themselves only flying Legends these days?

Federation ships have more variance between designs than Romulans do, and klingons currently have about 3 ships that aren't hideous, dominion ships are all sto own brand atm besides lockbox and such ships, same with cardassians. What we really need is more good looking options for non starfleet ships Like the Romulan Shrike and Griffin class from Armada 1 Or the Harpy, Raptor, whitewing, winged defender, heavy defender, battlehawk, swift wing, romulan ktinga and so on from Star trek legacy for the romulans and the Suq'jagh from armada and the D-3, K-32, k-30, predator, d-17, death rite and so on from Star trek legacy. Put those ships into sto as they are with no sto weirdness, make sure they are C-store ships, good stats and boom. Lists like this video can be more contested with legit options for ships that actually look like they are from star trek and are cool enough to make flying a romulan or klingon character worthwhile. Though tbh the second they made everything flyable everywhere klingon and Romulan characters became redundant

It's funny you should say the Blackguard is the best of the Flight Deck Assault Carriers "because Orions", 'cause I'd say the Silik is the best "because Suliban"! XD Jokes aside, this is an interesting list; I only own 3 of these already, so this has given me a lot to think about for future purchases. Hopefully at some point, they might still unlock the traits on the Temporal Warships. My Romulan toon has become my go-to for TFOs, but uses a Disruptor build.

Yep, the day that the faction ship restrictions disappeared was the day that non federation characters became obsolete and the need for them to bring in klingon and romulan ships diminished greatly... Really didn't like that decision, it truly killed any reason for using a non federation character as after you finish the now drastically neutered campaigns for them you're basically just doing the same stuff as the federation side would do anyway, and every subsequent storyline has been told from a starfleet perspective and style to such an extent that they could collapse all the factions into one and it would make no difference besides the fact earth spacedock and DS9 would get a little more populated.

The problem is not with your lists though. The problem is STO in its current inception. Ever since they did cross faction ships they have taken the lazy way out and just done Fed ship after Fed ship and completely neglected the other factions. For the C Store they have not made a new non legendary ship since 2020 for either the Klingons or Romulans. I play a Romulan because I want the aesthetics of the Romulan ships. I dont want to play a Romulan flying a galaxy dreadnought. I know its damned if we do and damned if we dont though. If we go back to the old way and you want the trait you unlocked on your Federation to be used on your Klingon you had to buy the Klingon version of the ship as well. Or we can keep what we have now and just realize that all of the new ships coming out will be Federation. I wish they had kept the ships faction specific but made the ship traits and consoles account unlock instead.

@adambrown6669
@adambrown6669 5 месяцев назад
They made the mistake of allowing us to use anything on any faction so long as we have a level 65 klingon, earth spacedock and ds9 are both wildly easier to navigate than Qo'noS and the republic fleet thing as well as being much more visually appealing, which in turn means that everyone just picks a federation character or federation aligned romulan, you can still be a klingon too with the federation klingon character you can get on the c-store, there's literally no reason to be anything else, all the new content is decidedly catered to Federation players anyway, how often do you see the Klingons rushing to the aid of some mysterious species? Or initiating friendly first contacts etc. The game needs a major overhaul, some features removed and entirely new and different campaigns for the other factions, but unfortunately none of those things are ever going to happen as it would be far too much work and the damage of the faction lock lift is already done.
@QuantumNova
@QuantumNova 5 месяцев назад
Thank you, but sadly this one faction focus thing is only happening with STO. If there were a Star Wars online do you honestly think the *Empire* would be an afterthought like KDF? It's a shame only the federation gets unique ships and the other factions just get clones with slight changes. As game dev myself, faction diversity is very important. All faction should play totally different (if possible). Logically if everyone is using one faction, you have failed as game developer. Instead of "F" the other factions let's focus on the one people play, how about make the other factions more fun or interesting. How can STO's devs and federation players be so oblivious? Only STO...

If there was a star wars online that focused on ship to ship combat unlike the existing star wars online, we'd probably have the same issue, even more so considering that the empire for one has a very small roster of designs, most of which look essentially the same Imperial I and II destroyers being a notable example, the executor would be too big to justify player use... Then there's the republic with their fleet of venators and arquitens class ships and not much else. So short of having a tiny roster of playable ships we'd likely end up with a bunch of legends and game dev own brand ships added in, and like with STO those ships would most commonly show up for the most popular faction.

@@adambrown6669 OMG you're going by what you see in Star Wars movies. The empire had more than just Star destroyers. They only made up "25%" of the imperial navy. The other 75% isn't shown in movies. You just completely overlooked the frigates, corvettes, carriers, tankers, support ships, and etc. The Empire would end up with more ship than KDF has currently. That's for sure. Expanded universe exist also. That's like another 120 ships with that alone. There's more TIE fighter variants than the federation's capital ship variants surely. :P In short, there won't be a problem at all with ships for the Empire. As for the Rebel alliance, they can use anything -- including star destroyers lol. (It's canon).

Nice to see another vid from you Stu. I'm probably one of the majority that only really gets non-Fed ships if they come in a bundle (Bort, Valdore etc.). Not that I don't like non-Fed ships, just my main toon is Fed, and I tend to only do the other factions during Recruits. It was a good video. Cryptic/Deca could do faction versions of the new ships, just make them identical in spec and have them faction locked. So if you bought a Fed ship, when you go to your KDF, Rom etc, you can claim that factions version. I tend to play faction ships on faction toons. I unlock all the traits and consoles from the ships I own then discard them on those toons. Just my preferred style of play.

That would be because it's a c-store canon ship, most of those all suck these days, hell the only way to have a canon trek ship be worthwhile in that game is to either get lucky and win a lockbox/promo ship capable of being made to look like a canon ship (world razor) or buy a legendary bundle as usually those end up being good ships, all you gotta do from that point is just equip classic skins on the ships and then enjoy playing a star trek game with legit star trek ships. All we need now is a vanity option to select what appearance and audio we want for our weapons so that we can use whatever the best things happen to be, but still have the classic phaser sounds and whatever the best looking beam is (currently Radiolytic has the best beam thickness and coverts have the best firing sequence as they usually look like they are firing one long beam)

It really sucks that the non federation factions have been neglected to such an extent that the "best" ships they are almost all either ugly or have little resemblance to real trek ships, I would much rather get more romulan and klingon ships from older trek games like Armada and Legacy than these things, it would also be nice if the real trek ships from said factions could all be superior to these cryptic counterfeit romulan and klingon ships. Imagine a D'deridex with the same power as the world razor? Or a Vorcha that could stand in the same field as the T6 constitution? I hope this change of hands STO is going through will result in less putting anything real trek in a gamble box and more filling out the c-store with several ships that actually look like they could have been on the show in the past for all factions, I mean just look at the cardassian ship options... Those things look like someone put a bomb in a tree and then picked up random splinters of wood after the explosion and called it a ship...

13:17 While it would be absurd for fed n kdf etc, to allow roms having thalaron weapons........to be fair, most cruisers, warbirds, defiant type ships n all that are all more than capable of wiping out all life on a planet. Itd just take a little longer depending upon the type of ship and its weapons. Also......ugh legendry ships.......total bs imo. If they just sold them without god awful bundles that exist for the sole purpose of jacking up the price to absurd levels to get a legendary....then itd be nice. Id love the legendary scimitar but holy crap, its not remotely worth the asking price / bundle thing. Even worse if you only want the legendary version and nothing else.

If you like Pilot ship, yeah, they're alright. They're actually a bit better they used to be since the Pilot revamp. Same with the Lethean and Dewan counterparts. I wish they had a second spec seat that was something besides pilot to give them a bit more versatility in the boff seating, but you certainly make any of them work.

Also, if you look at the ship from which the design of the eternal originated, that is, the 31c. Time ship that appears in st Voyager, you'll see it's also a federation vessel (it's the Wells class if I recall correctly), that's the base for all it's variants, they're all 31c. Pre-burn federation time ships

Lots of interesting ships on the list. I picked up the Romulan Kholhr for my Delta Recruit after you recommended it in another vid, and I really enjoy it. I might grab the Edison, as I like the looks (may use fleet modules on that). The Faeht Intel Warbird looks like a good ship, so I'm glad to see a review of that. Cardassian FDC is a lot of fun, as well.

Awww, c'mon. The Heavy Plasma Lance isn't **//THAT//** bad... Wish it wasn't locked to the Faeht though (just unlocking it for all Warbirds would be amazing... and yes, yes I would put it on the Kara; there's no such thing as too much javelance. Agreed on the flagship choice, it really should have been the Ha'apax/Kara, and the Scimitar is more inline with the dreads. a Legendary Ha'apax would be sweet, even if she doesn't get the 5/3 treatment. You mistook the CGD on the Sech with the Graviton Displacer (purple gravity well on a stick/ purple gravsicle) on the Shran/M'chla. The CGD on the Sech/Earhart (and the CSD version on the Mirror Engle) launch a ricocheting pulse that, if it hits 4 enemies, pulls them together around their combined centre of volume.
