Mr. Atari 2600 Mine is "The Changeling" starring George C. Scott (1980) People tend to mix it up with the one from 2008 starring Angelina Jolie which is outright blasphemous. I wish more people would give this movie s chance.

I sadly only know about _Forbidden Planet_ is because the UFO shots from that movie were used frequently in the alien episodes of _The Twilight Zone._

Agreed and like the book it's based on, arguably underrated. At least for me it's hard to find anyone on my usual forums of dwelling who are familiar with either. And incidentally, IDW Comics did a four issue adaptation of the book last year.

Agreed. The Incredible Shrinking Man is a legit choice (especially the spider fight and the ending that followed) but I would've swapped it to second for Forbidden Planet easily.

Surprised This Island Earth wasn't mentioned at all. The MONSTER from THAT flick is pretty iconic.

i for oen cant see movies or series outside from star wars from the 70s and down. Why? they are not bad at all but they feel so bad compere to what we get today that i just cant watch them. Liek i said without them we would never get the moviees we get now but CGI has spoiled me to a point that i love it too much but i also agree with you guys that old movies as a better charme than the new ones.

There are a handful of great films. Like The Witch, The Orphanage, Under The Skin, Goodnight Mommy just to name a few, fantastic films!

I am going to try to give a reason as to why people like this say modern horror is bad while old horror is good. Since old horror movies did, well, come out in the past everybody only remembers the good horror films while the bad ones are left by the wayside because they aren't really worth remembering, even though just like the modern era of horror there were plenty of god awful old horror films. But then with modern horror, while we may have some clue on what's going to be remembered (like the vvitch and hereditary), it's still pretty up in the air. So we are watching as all these shitty movies fly by us and since there are a lot more of them were focused on them rather than the smaller amount of good horror films. But as time passes, just like old horror films, only the good modern horror films will be remembered while all the shitty ones will be yet again left by the wayside. There are other factors to this too like the modern being pretty experimental and a lot of people dont like experimental stuff for whatever reason. Also it's way easier to advertise nowadays so it's hard to avoid crappy horror movies when it's on some RU-vid ad or something compared to in the 50s - 80s when you would have to go to a movie theater to watch a movie. So those are m basic reasonings as to why I tend to see this type of "old horror good new horror bad" type of argument.

Dinosaurs don't count. There were a bunch of "dinosaur rampages in the 3rd act" movies in the 30s. They're quite different from the monster-centric films of the 50s. Beast and Godzilla enjoy lots of screen time and are effectively the starring roles.
