Really cool to see Orion made the list! It’s incredible just how fast it goes through its massive track length. I’m never going to complain about clearing over 5000 feet of track in less than 50 seconds.
This video was incredible! I have said GaleForce was CRIMINALLY underrated for YEARS now. I cannot believe it’s not a model that had sold tons. Truly a weird, AMAZING ride that fits into a TINY plot.
THANK YOU FOR HYPING UP PANTHEON, I CANT BELIEVE PEOPLE HATE ON IT SO MUCH IT DRIVES ME CRAZY. Id love to have that thing at my home park. People give so much credit to Velocicoaster for theming when it literally ditched it halfway through the ride 😂 and there’s nothing as insane on Velocicoaster as the backwards ejector hill on pantheon. I think I’m one of the few who prefers pantheon. Not by much, they’re both incredible, but people act like it’s night and day when it really isn’t.
100% agree about Pantheon. While I think it's a shame that BGW didn't utilize the theme more because it has so much potential and BGW is a park that generally excels in aesthetics, the coaster itself is still amazing. It's my favorite in Virginia (yes even over I305 and Twisted Timbers) and it's my favorite of SeaWorld's initial planned 2020 additions (though I have admittedly not ridden Emperor yet but I'm fairly confident in my ranking.) Its my third favorite Intamin after Velocicoaster and Skyrush. I'm just as confused as you are as to why people dismiss Pantheon. It has excellent sustained airtime, excellent ejector pops, one of the coolest launched sequences ever, one of the coolest backward sequences ever, world class hang time and it's smooth and has the best seats and restraints of basically any coaster.
The backwards airtime is the ride's elite moment and the drop is pretty fun, but the rest of the elements feel like fillers. I understand and agree with criticisms about the theming, and I do think the lack of theming is highlighted by the cheap looking posters in the queue and the fact that the rest of the park has some of the best theming in the country, but to me I feel like the roller coaster itself just doesn't tell a coherent, interesting story, and people recognize that feeling and blame the theming.
I agree Pantheon is one the best launch coaters and my favorite over Velocicoaster, Pantheon packs so much in that it’s honestly crazy. I greatly agree with everything you said about Verbolten aswell. Nice diverse overall list Marc🙌.
I love the fact that you included wing coasters in this because, other than Thunderbird and occasionally Gatekeeper, I regularly hear enthusiasts give such mild to low opinions of wing coasters. I've ridden Wild Eagle A LOT, and I think it's a good coaster. No, it's not phenomenal, but still a good coaster. I've never had an underwhelming or unpleasant ride on it. I think it's an all-around fun ride, and it is by no means forceless. I trust myself a lot when it comes to forceful and forceless coasters, given my experience with riding some very forceful roller coasters many, many times (some examples: Incredible Hulk, Kumba, Tennessee Tornado, Afterburn, Montu, Fury 325). I always get hit with a lot of forces during the first two inversions on Wild Eagle, and the final helix is anything but forceless. It may not have a wing-over drop or more than just a few near-miss elements (which it certainly does depending on where you sit on the trains), but still it's a good, fun ride. I appreciate the fact that you have a positive view of it as well. It deserves more praise, as do wing coasters in general. I haven't ridden Orion yet, but I expect to in the summer. I'm glad that you included it in this because it gets so much hate, and I don't see how. Even though I haven't yet ridden Orion, I know I'm going to like it. I have no doubt in my mind -- it has the height and speed that can never disappoint me in a coaster. I sat next to a guy on Fury 325 this past fall who hadn't ridden Fury yet but had ridden Orion. When we reached the break-run on Fury he said that he liked Orion better. At that point in time, Fury 325 was the god of all gods to me, so I wondered how that was possible. But overtime, I've come to understand how it's possible for Orion to rival Fury, as well as other Giga coasters that it's often compared to being "much less than". I'm going to Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Kings Dominion in March, and Pantheon is one of the coasters I'm most looking forward to riding on this trip. Like Orion, I know I'm going to like a lot - no doubt. It leaves me baffled whenever I hear people state low opinions of Pantheon. And when these low opinions are based on poor theming, then it's just ridiculous. Personally, I could give a shit less about theming on coasters. For me, it's all about the ride experience -- theming is irrelevant. When people give Pantheon low reviews or opinions based on theming, then I completely dismiss their reviews or opinions all together. I'm glad you touched on the BS with people's opinions of Pantheon based on theming. As far as some of the coasters that I've ridden that I think are underrated, I will include Wild Eagle in this. I'll also add Nighthawk at Carowinds (I don't understand how this roller coaster is so despised). I ride it a lot, and I've never had a bad ride on it. I think it's pretty damn fun, and the vertical loop is an incredible inversion. Then, there's Scorpion at Busch Gardens Tampa. I went into it thinking it was going to be boring and lame -- but I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed it more than I ever thought I would. I wasn't by any means blown away by it at all, but still I did enjoy it in the end. Given the simplicity of its layout and its very modest stats, I had a negative view of it before even arriving at the park. But the ride experience turned out to be good enough for me to not hold onto that negative view.
You are definitely correct about Afterburn. I love this coaster -- one of my very favorites -- ride it all the time and one of my most ridden coasters. It is badass all the way -- I actually like it better than Montu. I love Montu, but I think Afterburn is better. I found Montu to be less intense and less whippy and relentless than Afterburn. They both (especially Afterburn) blow Alpengeist away.
THANK YOU. Never understood enthusiast's reactions to Wild Eagle, seen many rank Tennesse Tornado over it. Granted I have a pretty pathetic credit count, but I bloody loved that coaster
I just rode Verbolten for the first time this past Thursday, and I loved it. I think it is a great coaster, and I agree with you that it is highly underrated. It ended up being my second favorite coaster in the park after Griffon (Pantheon was closed for the day, which sucked!). I was shocked at how forceful it was during the indoor portion of the ride -- I wasn't expecting it to be as intense as it was. The drop track is insane, and it hijacked my stomach each and every time I rode the coaster. This drop track blows away the drop track on Hagrid's MCMA. The launches were good -- not insane -- but still very good. I loved the disorientating and out of control feeling of the coaster during the indoor portion. The drop over the water was really good. The park was dead, so I was able to stay on the coaster for two consecutive rides each time I rode it (rode it several times throughout the day). I really wasn't expecting to like Verbolten as much as I did. I expected it to be a good coaster, but I walked away knowing that is a great coaster. It is just an all-around fun and even at times intense and jolting coaster. It does quite a few things that I really appreciate in a coaster, so I was not disappointed at all. It does things that Hagrid's MCMA and Cheetah Hunt are seriously lacking in their ride experiences. I found both Hagrid's and Cheetah Hunt to be underwhelming and honestly overrated coasters, especially Hagrid's -- but Verbolten was neither underwhelming or overrated. In my book, it puts Hagrid's and Cheetah Hunt to shame. Not sure if Verbolten is actually considered to be a family coaster -- but if it is, I think it surpasses being classified by anyone as a family coaster.
We do miss big bad wolf in Virginia but verbolten is def a worthy replacement and pantheon is in my top 5... that launch backwards in the back is ridiculous
I agree with verbolten. It’s at my home park and I have an obsession with it too. When I go with my friends they always say they don’t want to go because its a kiddy ride but I’m the only one that goes on it! And also theres a crazy ejector moment as your entering the Black Forest
Great video! I actually kinda think Son of Beast was a little underrated from my experience riding it in 2001 and I didn't think of it as being rough. It was a cool coaster. I think The Beast is a little underrated too. It's fun.
I would agree! It’s like Hagrid’s without the theming, which people don’t deny would be great. not sure why Cheetah Hunt gets mediocre reviews at best.
My grandmother has had a place in Wildwood and I haven’t went down in years and I am now very into rollercoasters again. Can’t wait for this summer to hit up Moreys piers and go over to ride Gale force, never been on it, it looks great🔥
canyon blaster is still my fav arrow looper out of all of them they way it winds trough the canyon is great i still love how my first rides on it is when i was 10 and i got to go in the front by myself. still great and will continue being great forever.
You do bring up Some good points in this video, and I agree with you that Wing Coasters are Underrated, my first (and currently only) Wing Coaster was Wild Eagle, and I thought it absolutely rocked, and I barely noticed the Vest Restraint too, which is something Coaster Enthusiasts always talk about. And I know I’m gonna get hate for this, but Titan at SFOT is an Underrated Gem, it’s got great forces, and it’s packed with Near Miss effects, I wish it got more appreciation, because it’s awesome
Absolutely love Cedar Point's Gatekeeper. Not a bad side or seat on those winged trains. The ride is buttery smooth, and the elements are executed with near perfection. Enthusiasts seem to think that if they are not on the verge of throwing up after they get off of a coaster, then the coaster sucks. I don't get it. 🤷🏿♂️
Sometimes I feel like the only person who didn't find Goliath with the Premier trains rough at all. I loved riding it and I agree it's an underrated ride type
I love GaleForce, and it was my 150th coaster! I was blown away at the amount of ejector airtime I got on it, and when comparing it to the coasters at my home park (Six Flags Great Adventure), it would rank around second or third for me.
Six Flags St. Louis needs to add Titan Track on The Boss in the middle of the ride and disable the trim section. The Titan Track would reduce wear and tear on the track and the ride would be allowed to run faster.
I always tell people Monster has the world's best trim brake - that trim before the final two elements causes those elements to hit the PERFECT amount of momentum needed to give incredible hangtime
Adventureland in Iowa is my home park. And Monster is absolutely one of the most underrated coasters ever. It's my #1 Gerstlauer easily. I'm wondering if Matugani at Lost Island will end up being an underrated coaster too. I'm visiting Lost Island this summer when it opens to finally get on it...since it wasn't able to open with the park last year.
Gale Force packs a REAL punch my home park is HersheyPark and I love skyrush and ride it all the time and there were points on gale force where I thought it got more intense then skyrush
Is it understandable if I think cheetah hunt is underrated? Maybe it’s just what I was expecting but that ride had some really memorable moments and a ride experience that feels like it lasts forever
Cheetah hunt is the perfect family coaster. It's fun enough to be interesting for my jaded family members but at the same time I think it might be the only coaster my wife has ridden twice in one day.
How dare you show that family thrill ride Taron when you said overrated. Agree on quite a few of these! Canyon Blaster is a top tier Arrow. Pantheon is an easy top 20 coaster for me. Verbolten, yes. Inside that building it pulls some crazy forces. I was surprised when i rode it the first time as i thought it was a family coaster too lol.
Totally agree with Flucht von Novgorod at HansaPark! I think the park is completely underrated in general. There are so many Germans that don't even know that HansaPark exists...
8:40 Well, it _is_ the world's second fastest accelerating rollercoaster, only behind Do-DoDonpa. And it has more of a layout than either of the other coasters in the top 3 (the 3rd being Stealth at Thorpe Park).
Proud to see superman flight of steel here. I live 4 min away from the park and this coaster is very intense, smooth, and pretty fun but the straight pieces do bring it down but it is still underrated and is pretty good
I just rode Canyon Blaster for the first time in August and it surprised the heck out of me! Very intense in the 2nd row from what I was expecting! I *almost* take back everything bad I've ever said about Arrow loopers. Almost. 😂
I personally love the straight track on Superman....I can't think of another coaster that gives that sensation for that amount of time. That's a great coaster. The Giant Inverted Boomerang is fun as well. Only ever rode the one in Georgia, wish it never closed. Finally, I had a chance to ride GaleForce, but didn't want to pay the 15 bucks or whatever it cost lol oops. Maybe this year.
I have yet to get on a wing coaster. I was so bummed that Gatekeeper was closed the last time I was at Cedar Point. I think I will honestly cry if Wild Eagle is closed when I go to Dollywood.
So I can agree with some of these especially Boss at Six Flags St Louis. Also the Screamin Eagle (to me personally) is the greatest PTC coaster ever built and I seldom hear people praising that ride for it's very long out and back layout, terrific speed, and good airtime. I also think that Twister at Knoebles gets overshadowed by Pheonix quite often. I didn't know that Verboten was underated (I actually have always heard it praised) however I guess it depends who you talk to... Space Mountain at Disney World in my opinion is underated because that is an incredibly fun ride that always gets overshadowed by the newer Disney World coasters like Cosmic Rewind, Seven Dwarves Mine Train, and Expedition Everest. Demon at Six Flags Great America is another one you usually don't hear about and I actually thought it was one of the better arrow loopers as it had good theming/scenery, ran decently smooth, and had a great layout for an early arrow. Other coasters that rank very high for me personally that I know do have their fan base but may not be everyone's favorite are The Beast at Kings Island, Magnum XL 200 at Cedar Point, Shockwave Six flags Over TX, and Kraken at Sea World
Just rode all the coasters at cedar Vegas. Canyon blaster is 8/10 because the head banging hurts my head so much. But I got 5 inches of room so the drop was absolutely crazy. El loco is better in my opinion which gets a 8.5/10. Big Apple coaster has good floater on the first 2 drops and mild floater on the last hills. (I hate the inversions)
Honestly, the most underrated coasters I've ever been on are Desert Race at Heide park, Anubis the ride at Plopsaland and Goliath at Walibi Holland. They are not perfect, but they are very enjoyable and fun experiences.
I’m still upset I missed my chance to ride Galeforce. I was on the boardwalk last summer and literally saw the coaster but didn’t ride it since that was before I became a coaster enthusiast. I’m not gonna get the chance this year either since the reason I was there last year isn’t happening this year.
I feel like the only downside of Canyon Blaster is the headbanging and just the funky transitions, but if you can overlook those downsides you can peacefully enjoy the ride. Also I feel like the G-Forces are very high for a arrow corkscrew I understand some of the 4d coasters that arrow made have extremely high G Forces. But a corkscrew coaster?
My Personal List Of Underrated Coasters Btw The Rides At The Top Of The List Aren't My Favourites Cause I Would Argue That Gatekeeper Is The Best hHre #25 Valravn #24 Mystic #23 Scorpion #22 Manta #21 Mean Streak #20 Cobras Curse #19 Superman Ultimate Flight (Over Georgia) #18 Gemini #17 Monster #16 Icebreaker #15 Medusa #14 Daredevil Dive #13 Kraken #12 Banshee #11 Goliath ( La Ronde) #10 Gatekeeper #9 Raptor #8 Lightning Run #7 Mind Bender (Fun Spot) #6 Mystic Timbers #5 Magnum XL 200 #4 Legend #3 Hollywood Rip Ride Rock-it #2 Candymonium #1 Pantheon
I think the problem people have with Sea World and their lack of theming is the fact that they are trying to be more like Cedar Fair and now Cedar Fair wants to be more like the Busch Gardens parks and have theming (at least with the newer attractions). I agree with Pantheon, but I think that that coaster is better than Velocicoaster ((hot take)). Great list
For me, there are a couple coasters I have ridden that I find underrated. Firstly, Blue Fire Mega coaster. Many reviewers call this ride forceless, but it was my favourite rollercoaster at Europa-Park. Although I did ride Silver Star quite early in the morning, and I still got great airtime in those hills. I'm not gonna call Silver Star underrated, since I haven't ridden any other B&M Hypers to compare it against. Secondly, Nemesis Inferno. Everyone compares it against Nemesis and says Inferno is inferior, but it's still a very enjoyable ride. It's pretty forceful, and while I do prefer Saw: The Ride for the fear factor, Inferno or Swarm is probably the best ride at Thorpe, objectively speaking. Inferno is definitely the second best inverted coaster in the UK. Mainly because it's competitors are a bunch of SLCs, but still.
For me the most underrated are : Blue hawk (it gets a bad rep because of its past reputation it’s not like that anymore thanks to the vest restraints and it’s overall a fun ride) Wild beast and mine buster as well as grizzly at kings dominion (rough yes , but that doesn’t mean it’s horrible I find these coasters to be really fun and whippy especially in my opinion that wild beast and the kings dominion grizzly are much better than the one I have in California) And finally my favorite coaster ever since I was a little kid GIANT DIPPER at Santa Cruz beach boardwalk (it’s still in my top 50 I actually see it get overshadowed by cyclone , Phoenix and even its southern brother with the same name down in Belmont park and while it may not be as good as both Phoenix and cyclone , giant dipper is still an amazing ride and the best classic Woodie in the west)
Hot take, but even though I didn't find Skyrush's restraints painful, I actually thought that Stormrunner had a better layout, and I am not one that generally prefers inversions to airtime. It has 2 skyrush strength ejector airtime moments, a hydrualic launch, and the two whippiest inversions I have ever experienced.
I s**t you not ive been saying Gale Force is my most underrated coaster for well over a year now. I honestly thought i was the only one who thought that.
11:30 completely agree, I really dont understand why people will shit on pantheon for having no theming and then proceed to praise coasters like iron gwazi and not even bring up theming
I think it was the expectations. While both BG parks do well with theming and appearance, BGW is superior in that regard. Furthermore, Pantheon had really amazing potential for theming. We're talking Europa-Park potential. They could have done something really spectacular and I think most people got their hopes up. I don't think anyone expected Iron Gwazi to be highly themed (though I think it was a missed opportunity to not include an elaborate Nile Crocodile exhibit in the queue line, but that's neither here nor there.) Don't get me wrong. I'm a massive Pantheon fan. But I understand why people expected more from the theme and the appearance. I really hope BGW adds some cool theming during the off season some year to give the coaster the presentation it deserves. I wouldn't expect that from a Six Flags or Cedar Fair park but I think BGW ought to hold itself to a higher standard when it comes to theming and appearance.
people really trying to say that Pantheon is better than Velocicoaster when it's simply not true. Velocicoaster is better in every single way from the queue, to the theming, pacing, setting, launches, elements, audio, visuals, THE FREAKIN HEARTLINE ROLL OVER THE LAGOON! Even if you strip all the bells and whistles away and look strictly at the layout Velocicoaster is still better. Pantheon is a fun exhilirating ride with some great elements. Velocicoaster however is an experience.
I never said that and those who do are in the minority. I might disagree that Velocicoaster would still beat Pantheon without the theming though. I think the 1st half would be a bit lame with no rock work, raptor statues, and paddock theming.
Nemesis inferno gets too much hate and colossus colossus has great inversions great float and very smooth and inferno is just non stop whoops intense and some float near the end which surprised me
I wouldn't put kingda ka on this list anymore. Pretty much as soon as el toro got rougher, everybody called el toro overrated and said kingda ka was as good if not better 😂😂
The reason I hate Pantheon so much is it’s lack of elements. 1 minute! 1 minute of 7 elements. 30 seconds of that is amazing but the other 30 seconds is ok. The outerbank is completely forceless from an airtime perspective, the stall is good but not nearly as intense as Velocicoaster’s stall. And theming doesn’t usually break a ride, it does here. It has some of the worst theming in existence in a park that is renowned for its beautiful theming. It’s one of the worst Intamin blitzes I think just because the model is supposed to be fast paced with small, fast elements. Pantheon has like 3 well paced moments and that’s it. It’s incomplete. That’s why so many people hate it.
@@dopaminecoasters I disagree personally with that take, but I cannot fault you for it at all. That backwards bunnyhill is really unique and a surprisingly great element which is followed up by a varied layout. Pantheon truly is amazing. I still find SteVe better mostly because of that insane outerbank airtime hill, which is probably my favorite element on any coaster I've ridden. (Although I see you disagree with that opinion)
Ok, I very much disagree with Verbolten. I think it's overrated in my opinion. Anyways, I do very much agree with Pantheon though, that first launch into the zero-g roll really gets you a bit hyped up. The vertical backwards spike is amazing and that 95 degree drop on that top hat really brings it all in. Although, my favorite element on that coaster is that stall, it's just perfect in every way.
@@CoasterDash I’ve asked people that question and they all say the same thing! I feel like that was GCI’s first coaster that they realized they could go complete batshit crazy with a ride
