Don’t go hating on Speed Racer. The looks are basically intentional, since the movie is supposed to mimic the over-the-top and unrealistic aesthetic of the anime

But that Speed Racer movie was crap. It was basically an insult to the cartoon. It was made by the same guys who made The Matrix trilogy. You’d think that they’d be able to create decent VFX in 2008, since the groundbreaking VFX in the first Matrix film… made in 1999 (nine years before Speed Racer was released). Their careers went further downhill with Jupiter Ascending (which was a heaping pile of garbage), Cloud Atlas (which was also crap), V for Vendetta (another pile of crap, that even Natalie Portman hated). It went back uphill a little bit with The Matrix Resurrections (wasn’t a huge step uphill, but it was miles better than Speed Racer and Jupiter Ascending)

Talking about king kong: There are certain moments throughout the scene where you can tell green screen was used and it takes away from the realism of the chase. Ahh, yes. Maybe they should use REAL dinosaurs next time to make it more realistic 👌

It’s pretty much The Room of kids movies. The fourth film doesn’t even feel like a Spy Kids movie. Hoping the reboot is a continuation for the first three films and the fourth one is retconned. Yes, there’s a reboot, look it up.

Same thing with Spy Kids. I don't get criticizing blue/green screen effects when it's meant to be that hammy. Hell, I don't even have that much problem with The Amazing Bulk because clearly that's meant to be a joke. I'd say the worse is the skyline in The Room because clearly that was meant to be serious but it's obviously fake. Still one of my favorite bad movies.

this is exactly what I was looking for. The Speed Racer film is cinematography at it's best and most creative. If you don't get that... you have no place in ranking movies.

Please for the love of god do a shred of research. King Kong won Academy awards for not only VISUAL EFFECTS but also production design. Speed Racer was a stylistic choice to add to the absurdity. Sure, some of these ARE rancid. But I won't let literal academy award-winning VFX teams be made fun of in a WatchMojo video 15 years later without raging in the comments

I dunno WatchMojo...take into account that Die Hard 2 came out in 1990, which is pretty impressive of an effect for that time. Especially with the majority of these films on the countdown were made years later.

The wave scene from Avatar wasn't even bad. Don't get me wrong, the movie is garbage. But I didn't see any green screen mistakes in the scene you chose. The guy wasn't trying to touch the wave. That scene was probably the best looking effect from that entire movie. It was gorgeous.

Dude...those grenades in die hard were the most polite grenades ever-they waited for him to notice them, freak out a little, spot an ejector seat, scamper over to said seat, buckle himself in, pull the lever, and finally get into the air before exploding. Grenades have a 3-5 sec fuse on them...not 30 seconds lol

Ultraviolet and Sky Captain were meant to look like they did. That wasn’t an error, that was the point. They are both surreal, especially Sky Captain. Ultraviolet is one of my all time favorites, right up there with 5th Element.

I freakin' LOVED "Sky Captain..." The aesthetics were absolutely brilliant. The visuals were exactly how they should be. The story, sound, the acting... everything was to the point of the artistic concept of that movie! Too bad when some internet "critics" simply didn't get any of it..

I feel like some of these are forgivable, but you’re right about those big budget films, there’s NO EXCUSE for them not to fix those when they’ve got all the money they need! Sometimes it’s the studio pushing the director to finish the film in time for a release date and they just run out of time, not money!

The “bad effects” in Spy Kids 3 were supposed to be that way because it was 90% a video game. The first level with the pogo toads was refereed to as “low res” by Juni. I think the best scene in the movie is the mega race. Second best is the lava surfing. Out of the four Spy Kids movies, it’s actually my favorite one.

Some others that were horrible: wolverine origins- wolverine hit by the lumber truck, x-men- wolverine on the statue of liberty, & the worst of all- the scorpion king in the mummy 2. Also pretty much all of these movies: green hornet, green lantern, batman & robin, the amazing spiderman 1 & 2 (love Andrew tho), gods of egypt, the league of extraordinary gentlemen, & of course catwoman!!! Sorry, had to get all of that off my chest!!!
