Want to catch bass? These are the top baits for Summer! It doesn't matter if you're pond fishing or just walking the bank of your local lake, these lures will help you catch more fish. Some of our best fishing memories happened while walking the shoreline. Keep it simple, fish with confidence, and use these tips on your next trip!
Bluegill are the main forage in most ponds across the country. Learning to imitate a bluegill with lures that can be fished easily around shallow grass will help you catch more fish. Most pond anglers walk the bank so keeping it simple is critical! Carrying too much gear will make you miserable, even if you're getting bit. Don't worry about carrying boxes of baits. Carry less rods, focus on these 4 baits, and you'll have more fun.
Below you'll find links to the exact baits discussed in the video. We've included our favorite colors for each, as well as the gear we use to rig them. We also included a few of our favorite bank fishing combos that can be used for multiple techniques, so you can carry less gear. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

My only problem is he didnt chose a popper or a buzz bait. My lord buzz bait at 6am oh my gosh is that fun. And 9pm sunset fishing you want to catch 20 bass in 45 minutes throw a popper drive them crazy hands down the funnest it gets pond fishing. Sure its fun draging a crawfish on the bottom buttop water is pond fishing just my 2 cents

@@tacticalbassin maybe do another video and show how you can slam with early morning buzz bait or sunset popper fishing a farm pond or avarage pond you find at a neighbors house. Another good video idea would be like to show people how fun creek fishing with light gear 1 pole small hand full if hooks a few small lures bobber and a minnow or a worm an d how awesome the small mouth fishing is. Get wet walk right down the middle and fish it up show people how to set a minnow trap . I suck atmaking videos but you seem pretty comfortable I used to watch this guy long lime ago named dave mercer and the facts of fishing. Absolutely fantastic fisherman and comedian.

Your content is also a great refresher for techniques I've forgotten that makes me want to get out on the water and take off my old faithful. The jig is my #2. Finally, I've been texas rigging big curly tailed worms (10 inch worms) in june bug and having good success with that.

Totally agree! In fact I also use the SLX for my Texas rig and the Sellus as my spinning. The only different in our set ups is that I prefer a weightless fluke instead of the shakey head. In my opinion the shaky head hangs up a little bit more while the fluke glides over the grass and you can really slow down as fish it like a weightless senko. I love versatile baits!! Great video!

Use to carry 4 rods, and what was basically a small tackle store. Now I carry 2 rods. That's it. 1 will be rigged top water with a frog or a popshadz. And the other will have either a baitfish, or a worm, crawdad Texas rigged. Keep a couple of spare plastics in my pocket. Usually go out early in the morning, just as the sun is rising, and make it a fast trip. I am in Texas, and it gets HOT fast.

I only carry 1 rod if I’m going to the pond. Usually my Megabass P5 Super Destroyer because it can throw everything since it has almost a dual action. I have a Steez AGS 7’2” H power Pitch on the way which will also be great and a conquest 842s which will probably get a ton of use throwing wacky rigged senkos which I catch the most fish on. I only like to bring 1 rod because I don’t like setting my reels on the ground and having a bunch of dirt and grime in them and also I don’t like getting bit by ants I didn’t know we’re on my rods

I have the heritage backpack I can fit 6 3700 trays in there plus two smaller trays. I always have at least three rods with me. My ponds are so pressured it’s not funny, I would say that the ponds here in Az get hit harder then the lakes. Not to mention the 115• summer days. I just try and find golf courses if I can get away with it. And hit the lakes every now and then with my kayak.

Getcher self some 5/16 ID silicone tubes from amazon, and chop them up to act as sleeves for your yum dingers. I use yum dingers for neko rigs, and they last forever, and with the silicone tube instead of an oring, you rarely ever lose one when ya get hooked up.
@r.barefoot8386
@r.barefoot8386 2 года назад
Going to have to try that idea! You can also cut the ends off your old tube baits and slide them onto the ends of your stick baits for a skirted wacky rig 👍
@twiggsherman3641
@twiggsherman3641 2 года назад
@@r.barefoot8386 I take 10-15 strands of silicone skirting, line it up with the length of the dinger, and put a normal oring over it on top of the silicone tube. The oring helps keep extra pressure on the silicone tube, and the skirting holds up really well after a fish catch, you sometimes have to untangle it though.

I get at least 1 a day- usually 3-4 a day- and I have for years now, no problems so far. We just pull them off and put some alcohol or peroxide on it, some anti itch cream- and forget it. Yeah I do worry about stuff like lime's disease but, when you live where I live you have no choice but to get over it.

I just tried the Shakey head at the local pond a couple of days ago. I must be doing it wrong because I dragged in a wad of grass on the head every cast. Anyone have thoughts?

1) You could use a lighter head 2) You could try a different shapes head. The football shaped heads always bring in weeds for me 3) If it's the scummy, slimy, weeds you may be outta luck

Our grass is on a different level around here...ain't no pop it free with a swim jig, or Texas rig or Shakey head. The slimy grass here is almost impossible to fish

You talkin like snot grass? Flukes are good for not picking up too much of it. Tbh, I fish that with a chatterbait and when it gets clogged up i pretty much reel in and set the hook on it. tends to break it free and you can feel the vibration letting you know it's clear

If you don’t have a lot of weeds here or the weeds are kinda on the bottom throw a Carolina rig on a light 3/8oz weight on a spinning rod with our finesse Beasty Bug Jr craw as the trailer or another finesse style worm or craw , it’s a dynamite option for when the water is super hot and they aren’t moving much or eating much and that subtle free weightless look is needed
