Worked great on about 6"-8" of average snow starts to struggle a bit past 8". ru-vid.comUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN Very light weight and the chute spin control works well. For the low price you get a ton of value. My only complaint is managing the cord as it does take a fair bit of effort to watch and pull the cord out of the way. I found myself having to whip the cord out of the way a lot when I needed to make one way passes to mange the blow direction. It's less of an issue when you can work both directions. A battery powered version would be a lot easier to handle but that is also double the price and requires battery care. I chose the corded version so I didn't have to worry about batteries but I do now see how much work the cord is. I let my neighbor borrow it and it outperformed his smaller gas blower, he was totally sold. Very pleased with the power and operations.My only suggestion is to spend a bit more on a cordless version if you have budget for it. The cord is a bit more of a headache than I thought it would be. Very pleased with the Snow Joe brand and quality.

I WASNT in the market for a board but after watching this video I just may be. I’ve been riding for 39 years now and have ridden everything from a Sims 1500FE, 1650 Kidwells, K2 Fatbob, Glissade Big Gun, LIB Emma Peal wide, Malolo, Fish etc. My current quiver is a 160 Burton 3D Fish, 163 Landlord, 158 StunGun, 161 Barracuda and a Sims 160 Solo purchased for nostalgia, but enjoyed it so far. Several years back I purchased the Korua Tranny Finder 157 and from the first run to the chairlift I noticed I didn’t like the feel, I gave it a couple more runs then ran it back to the car and grabbed the Stungun. I knew they were wide before I purchased it but I had owned wide boards in the past and thought it would be great, but I felt like I was having to put too much effort into initiating my turns especially heal side. In your opinion do you feel the lighter high end model would compensate for that ? Going to check out some of the boards website you mentioned here. Nice to talk with people who know their stuff.

7:12 Thanks for explaining this about wide versus regular sizes for those of us that don’t see powder all the time. I’m downsizing from wides with a 10.5 - 11 because I don’t like that sketchiness happening in ice.
@markfawcett8142
@markfawcett8142 Год назад
For sure. Unless you are riding powder , and soft snow conditions very often, the wider boards are NOT the call. With size 10.5 - 11, you would still want something with a 25.5cm waist width or wider. Once you hit over 26.2 , you'd probably start to notice that " stand-you-back-up " feeling.
@FilmsbyRob
@FilmsbyRob Год назад
@@markfawcett8142 I'm moving on to dangerous ground disagreeing with you Mark, but I've found that the tendency of a wider board (27 and up) to want to sit flat is something that you can adapt your riding style to. Booting out because your board is too narrow for foot sizes above a 10 at higher edge angles has no "work around".
@markfawcett8142
@markfawcett8142 Год назад

I just bought a 162W mind expander. I havnt been able to ride it yet but I’m nervous it’s going to be an underwhelming carver/bomber. I know this board wasn’t designed to be amazing at either of those but is it atleast a decent carver and can handle speed? Sometimes I like to lay a trench and go fast. Not my main goal but I’m hoping this board can handle that.

You fit in the 161W BSOD nearly perfectly. That said you also fall in line with the 165W BSOD. It would require a bit more effort to roll onto edge, as it is a spec wider, but it would be more stable at speed and will crush those deep days better than the 161W.

You are on about the perfect set-up. That which makes it perfect in 90% of the terrain and conditions you ride will make it a bit more "work" in those tight sections. I don't think Burton Produces that size anymore in a FA. For your size, you could proably go with the 160 TM.... it might be a few mm more narrow, and help you wiggle it thru thr trees a spec easier. ALSO, can try a wider stance width when riding these condions / terrain....slide the back binding back, leave the front binding. Gives you way more leverage to man-handle that tail section.

Hi guys. I really appreciate your work on this channel. I've been surfing and skateboarding for 30 years and started snowboarding more seriously this season. I nerd out on design and your explanation of specific design nuances is great. I have a question-on the Capita board, Mark says he rides the stance back sometimes. I assume that means set back from the reference point suggested by the manufacturer. What happens to board control/turning when you set back the stance on a board that has a centred reference point to begin with? I understand that for powder it makes the nose come up so you don't pearl. But how does it affect it on groomers? In other words, is it a bad idea to change the intended reference stance when riding groomers? Thank you!
@WontSeeReplies
@WontSeeReplies Год назад
Generally 3/4 inch improves a board in one direction. While you sit multiple inches back on a skateboard or surfboard, 3/4 is good for a snowboard.
@markfawcett8142
@markfawcett8142 Год назад
Hi Ricardo. I find MANY of the reference stances are labeled for twin-tip board riding. The set-backs they use from this centered reference for a directional board are really small...way too small. You end up with all this tail that is very difficult to bend, or push thru with your back foot so far forward. Akin surfing with your back foot just forward of the thruster fins, you have no leverage over it. We recentkly had a "mega-pro" in on the show, and behind the scenes, he Totally agreed with this sentment. He even runs min disk bindings so he can get his back foot even further back on that aft-most holes. Control the tail , control your destiny.

With most pro riders and the presenters here being under 5'10" and around 150 - 160 lbs (sorry metricians... figure it out), the width of these boards sold as "wide" really needs to be examined through YOUR OWN prism of body type. If you have a boot bigger than a 10, you NEED the widest board these manufacturers make AT A MINIMUM if you want to carve with higher edge angles. If you are heavier and taller than the pros who deigned these boards (or the presenters themselves) you also should have a LONGER board. For bigger people with bigger feet and heavier weights, don't be scared off by the fear in the presenters eyes when they reference the longest boards in the lines they speak about here... you may NEED those boards. Granted, Mark Fawcett is a f'in BEAST, but he's still only 5'8" / 160 lbs. Mark F at one point does make a notable comment around one mannerism of the wider boards (for me, anything above 27) and that's the tendency for them to want to "stand you up"... Specifically, this means that wider boards want to sit flat on the snow and are harder to lever up to high edge angles. That said, it is IMPOSSIBLE to not boot out if you have bigger feet and are on a narrow board, while it is possible to ADAPT to a wider board through varying riding scenarios.

@@snowbdr89 In carving it is such a unique feel as you power it totally with your back foot. The nose will engage smoothly and then let you transfer all you weight on your back foot while disengaging the nose. You will find your self doing wheelies when transitioning from edge to edge and finishing your turns. The magtrac on the fin like grippy tail is the main reason how and why you can do that so easily. Also you will notice a mellow flex point in the middle of the board helping you raising your front foot towards you. So rad man. Ok it’s not a classic carver but for me it’s just more fun and you can really maintain hard speed between the turns. Quiet a physical experience for sure 🤟🏽 In trees or any banked track you have to apply the same technic if you want it to be nimble enough and then just let the nose dampening everything and the tail fast power turning 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽 I am riding since 1990 and for me it’s such a revelation 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼 enjoy man
