I didn't find ESF that bad either. Recently farmed crimson/lavawalker to try and upgrade Hu Tao and Klee. I'm still lacking a usable set of Lavawalker. RNG for you! I'd have to say worst domain is trying for VV especially if you're after EM. So many Maiden pieces, which I used a bit in the past but largely replaced by clam.

I think c2 raiden is more worth than 4 other character cause she gain the same amouth of damage than c6 character and c3 you out dps then. And i don t think homa and c1 hu tao are the best choice cause its good to have crit but since the release of inazuma and emblem set er have became one of the most important stats ( more than crit ) so like all the think it depend only on the account. And the only 5 stars who s the most usefull for any account between those 5 is raiden by far ( with kazu ) who s the most close one to must pull character

I have yet to finish the video, but this was the comment I was hoping to see, especially since I might go broke throughout these and the next banners, plus the upcoming Sumeru content. All this made me REALLY crunch down on which weapons to invest in that were resource-efficient(usually by good returns, being re-usable on many characters, availability), but couldnt find one specific bow that's always good to have regardless of the characters role. Viridescent Hunt is an option, but costs money, hoping that maybe you could give a recommendations for a bow weapon? If it helps to have specific characters in mind, then Yoimiya, or maybe Collei / Tighnari when they get around. I like their designs and their elemental playstyles, but haven't had experience playing any of them yet.

Hu Tao C0 is great with an R5 Dragon's Bane, and even if it's R1. With XQ, and a double Geo with ZL, I'm hitting 60-70k charged attacks on the regular. (This is with a pure EM/HP build)

To be fair though, Lavawalker for Reverse Melt Rosaria or Kaeya can potentially be better than the 4 pc Emblem set. Mono Pyro too. Maiden's, on the other hand is completely outclassed by OHC unless you're running a gimmicky Prototype Amber Lisa/Mona/etc

International Childe has been the strongest version of National for a very long time now, and there are a number of reasons why, but while I get into that, I'll break down the absurd claims that you just made. 1 - "Childe actually does very little for this team comp due to hydro res being terrible and xq having far more consistent hydro application" Hydro res is irrelevant. There is one Hydro unit in National or International. The fact that you think people are talking about using Childe with Xingqiu, while calling other people clueless is ironic, and quite frankly, funny. International, the team the original comment was talking about, consists of Childe, Bennett, Xiangling, and Kazuha. No Hydro res here. Furthermore, do you really think that Xingqiu has more consistent Hydro application than Childe? Are you that ignorant? There is typically only one Hydro character in National/International, as I said, and you should know. Both Xingqiu and Childe battery themselves. He can effortlessly be the fastest enabler in the game while still contributing to a large chunk of the team's DPS. 3 - "His multipliers are tiny compared to ganyu, hu tao and especially ayaka which is very important when discussing a dps." Tiny? What is tiny to you? His burst has a higher multiplier than Hu Tao's, and he's reliant of "Death By A Thousand Cuts". They all do more damage than him, but he still does great damage while enabling someone else to do great damage at the same time. This is what makes Childe a top tier DPS. 4 - "which the abyss is turning away from" Ah yes, literally 21 enemies in 12-1-1. The Abyss is totally turning away from AoE, at least maybe in your fantasy world. Go check out the 3.0 Abyss leaks, while you're at it. 5 - "Childes kit is incomplete at c0 meaning he can literally only be used in the national team, so much for versatility." Incomplete how? He enables and damages - that's what he was built to do and he does it well. As for versatility, are you forgetting that Childe is a Hydro character? He can be used in National, Taser, Soup and even works in Freeze. National is his best team, but that doesn't change the fact that he works in many other teams. 6 - "He only becomes viable for a dps at c2 where he cool-downs get reduced to a manageable level" Perhaps go learn proper rotations? Childe is meant to stay in his melee stance for 9 seconds, not 30, lmao. Keep it at 9 and you'll never see that cooldown ever again. 7 - "Him being here makes no sense and vars is honestly as clueless about this game as you" Wrong. See above. Nice try, but this isn't 1.1 anymore.

@@w1lrand3. You use childe with XQ in national comp? No doubt your perception of him sucks bruhh... Use Sucrose or Kazuha for pyro+hydro res shred childe hydro alone is enough for the whole team and his burst does so much dmg in like first 2 sec of rotation(mine does 270-300k depending upon abyss buffs) + 7-15k per NA he does for the next 9secs. And... no Abyss is still a bunch of AOE, have you checked the 2.8 abyss yet? Childe might be the only character who is complete at C0 at this point. Like in international comp his CD matches perfectly with Bennett and Kazuha buff which makes him the perfect candidate compared to Yelan, Xingqiu And Ayato (None of them can pyro + hydro swirl with kazuha). Sounds a lot like skills issues to me. Ganyu is just raw power and boring so I won't comment on that. Hutao, way too single target unless enemies are hugging each other. Hutao is in a similar spot to childe, you need xingqiu + zhongli + a random subdps char. (and bruhh good luck managing stamina at c0, tho its manageable its not the best exp) Ayaka is married to freeze comp, and generally not that great against bosses. So Childe being JUST good in International Comp doesnt make him bad. (BTW His taser team is kinda good too, but no one uses it because International Exists)

And bursting with his range form means you get refunded some energy so one doesn't have to get back as much energy to fill it up.

To add, using melee burst eats melee stance time due to the animation, which is one N2C/N3C less optimally iirc

While i agree for the most part, dashing away before pressing e is not that hard to set up. And the animation is so much cooler! Suboptimal, ofc, but satisfying.

The range burst is used because of the energy refund and the fact that most of the time the extra damage from the melee burst isn't needed

How I see it, Raiden at c0 is more akin to an enabler, while at c2 is when she becomes a main dps.

Raiden at c0 just doesn't do a lot of damage as a main dps, and if you are arguing about rational, xl does the bulk of the damage in it when Raiden is c0 (After all, no one argued Childe was the strongest dps when international was popular). Any hypercarry team with a proper dps unit will beat out hypercarry raiden.

@@mangshu21 what they said is true. At C0, Raiden is great but she's still primarily a support/battery. She becomes a main dps at C2/C3. It's because of this very reason I run my C0 Raiden with Eula instead of a seperate hypercarry raiden team. Another example would be C0 Yelan vs C6 Yelan.

We childe mains must agree that he is the best slave for xiangling. Tried replacing him with ayato but his application of hydro has like this awkward gap while also missing out on childe’s burst nuke. I wpuld suggest you run ayato with a sustained damage team (xingqiu, fischl, zhongli). Both teams seem to be my go to now whenever an abyss needs a dps check

I play them together lmao, ayato is the burst support thanks to his ult buffin the na of childe, but now that i got heizou tho, it got better thanks to childe passive talent, and heizou cd alows me to time better childe cd, the other is a flex spot depending on how i feel like playing tbh

Eula has a great dedicated support: Raiden ;) Does almost everything you want... gives her energy, buffs her burst, provides for super conduct, and kills the time while your burst is recharging.

@@Axterix13 Raiden is almost perfect for her, but she doesn't give boost to raw physical stat. Kazuha for example can give you elemental bonus. Physical is just weak in general so imagine Gouru, but physical. Would also help anyone that build physical in that regards not just Eula.

tbh I'd rather put raiden with eula because they're like the best duo in the game because the only problem with eula is not her damage, it's her inconsistency and raiden fixes that. If hoyo's going to give us a character that boosts phys damage, it also better boost crit rate and gives a ton of energy

His quadratic scaling damage but also his no ICD on riptides. He's currently the only hydro unit that can enable AOE vape consistently for Xiangling due to his special mechanics.

@@junoolive2396 An onfield kokomi, and c6 xingqiu can enable xiangling fine. Childe's biggest strength is always being the aura even with 3 pyro sources (Guoba, Pyronado, PyroKazuha Ult)

Hey man I agree with you on the C1 and Homa but HP is actually more expensive due to the lack of readily available HP boosts. You can get a Diluc with Bennett and WGS where he needs to be without any Attack rolls, whereas Hutao and Yelan crucially need those HP% and EM rolls in their artifacts.

Well I guess to add on to this, if the strongbox really is getting all the big sets like CW and VV then EoSF is even more valuable now as a domain.

Objectively speaking, emblem domain is the best. No question, no buts. It has an universal support set that deals damage based on ER, and a solid set that works with most dps. Any other domain is straight up trash, niche, or only has one good set while the other is complete garbo (Noblesse, Bloodstained, Husk, clam, crimsom witch lavawalker...).

@@Sergmanny46 I wouldn't call clam and Bloodstained complete garbo. Those are just very niche. VV paired with Maiden Beloved, though... Maiden wasn't much popular even at start. Even at healers beside Barbara.

VV was such a pain to farm. Took me incredibly long to get VV with EM, and I think I'll stick with whay what have now even though the sub stats are shit. might hope for the best with the Strongbox but my god, VV domain makes me want to cry

@@uwot3709 The reason he doesn’t take childes spot is because of the pure damage of tatarglia national and/or any reaction teams with him. Geo is arguably the weakest element in the game right now due to crystallize being the only reaction. Is Itto good? Yes. Nobody’s saying he isn’t. Is Itto top 5 dps characters? Not even close.

No one is saying that Childe does no damage. However, a well-invested Childe and Xiangling should have around a 40-60 split in AoE, meaning that even with riptides Childe does 66% of a proper DPS's damage. That's nowhere near high enough to put him in a "top DPS" list. A top enable-DPS hybrid or something, sure, but not what this list is supposed to be about - he's always an enabler before he is a DPS character. Also, the reason why you run him over Xingqiu is because Xiangling is AoE and Xingqiu is single target, and vaping her in AoE yields a lot more damage. The biggest reason why you run him over Ayato is because you can double-swirl easier with him than Ayato (also, higher hydro app helps too when trying to remove existing pyro auras from pyronado). There's a reason why Childe Taser is not favored and no one really runs hypercarry Childe teams, like they do for the other DPS on this list.

@@nexuhs. 40%, not 40-60%. 40-60 split means Childe 40%, Xiangling 60%. EDIT: The 40% aplit is in AoE situations, not single target, with said quadratic scaling applied to it. And it includes the burst. Childe won't reach anywhere near 40% of the split without those, given how short of a duration you're on his E for.

@@felyndiira I really see him doing more than those 40%, Childe on national be doing 15k autos with 15k+ riptides, at least mine does such, and also, an highly invested C6 Xiangling will do 60k Pyronados each vaped hit If both are single target, it's likely that Xiangling will do more, but at 2+ enemies I see it being really well distributed between the 2, since he can dish out autos way faster than Pyronados hits, and also quadratic scaling on top, to add to it, you can easily pull a 300k+ vaped burst in a national comp too And literally has the name implies: A main DPS is a DPS that is on field, and spends the main time of the team on field, dealing damage From kequngmains: "Also commonly called On-field DPS or Main Carry. I do agree with you that the 40-60 thing needs to be examined with math or testing, so once I get off work today I'll run some numbers to see how much % damage he contributes compared to Xiangling in an international team. It's possible that the numbers prove me wrong on this, in which case I will happily own up to it. Keep in mind, I'm not saying that Childe does no DPS at all. Most hydro sub-DPS characters like him, Xingqiu, and Yelan has very good numbers in their name. I'm questioning his inclusion in a video about the "best DPS" (that also does not include Xiangling, mind), which implies that his DPS is on a comparable tier as the likes of Ganyu or Ayaka. It would be interesting to crunch some excels and challenge whether this common community perception is true or not.

In terms of resin efficency, I'd argue that Itto wins that one. The husk set can be used on Itto, and Albedo, while a 2pc husk and 2pc clam can be thrown on a C/4 Gorou to bulk up his heals (overall, Gorou's stats are useless to teammates, so may as well make him heal). As much as people meme on the clam set, it singlehandedly made Kokomi rise, so if you have her that can go on her too. Qiqi can also use it quite well. The thing with the Ayaka, Ganyu, and Childe example is that they aren't a team. Those are three separate DPS units. I would argue that grinding for the whole team in one domain is better than grinding for separate DPSes for separate teams on one domain.

@@jadecoolness101 Sorry but emblem is just far too good to be considered worse than husk. Raiden, xinqiu, xiangling arguably 3 units easily in the top 10 best overall characters all use emblem. Shime is also bis on many other units like xiao, shenhe and yomiya. Emblem is always the recommended domain to farm if you don’t know what to farm husk is very niche.

I bought the skin for him on an impulse and now have him iñ my overworld team. He doesnt kid around when it comes to his normals. He whacks boars faster than Ganyu charges her arrows

Diluc was my very first 5*. He carried my weak team from the very start. I had to bench him when I got too many tall 5* characters but now I'm back with him as my main for my open world exploration coz I got Yelan to enable his vape, I also got his Red Dead skin, and Gravestone.

Some also just straight up hit hard. Like Ayaka and Guanyu. However, it's also important to remember that some scale much better than others with const for instance, whilst Childe may perform better without const than Yoimya, this situation can overturn with const. Ayaka might start being broken from the off but Xaio and Itto scale better with const. The game is heavy reaction meta but there are exemptions to the rule all the way through the roster.

The rest of enemies are either knocked back by Xiao, thus you're unable to hit all the Es on the opponents, or don't group enough so that you can hit your Es. The rest of his constellations are shit except for C1 which is decent.

I don't think Diluc would be in the same level even without Xingqiu, as he also depends on him for most of his damage. Hu Tao has so many things that Diluc doesn't, from ridiculously high multipliers, to a broken attack buff, to no ICD attacks without cooldowns. They're not in the same level, not even close

Hu tao has more attack speed weapons and better burst. the weapons alone put her above him.

I could easily have him at C4 by now with a little more luck, but since I lost four 50/50 on his banners combined I'm still stuck at C2 🥲 Now I have 360+ wishes saved up for his next rerun though and it will ofc get even more until then, so I hope I can maybe reach 5 and also try getting Polar Star (though I'm only gonna try once, I already have Thundering Pulse so I don't really need it)

Hmmm. But that would be very limiting. Xiangling/Hutao without XQ aren't good. Xiao will be better. But then again Xiao also hyper carry that requires team to work around him. Same case with Itto. Eula without support to sustain her burst also straight downgrade. Raw damage is possible, but the ability to sustain themselves is pretty much impossible for a team game like this.

The point is that Not all characters need reactions to sustain their damage, some need batteries some need both some perform better with both but might not need, it. Some want const, others are ready to go from the off. Same with kit. I don't think every metric should be ignored, or at least it would be prudent to go off each characters best case/real potential.

But they wouldn't ever need to sustain themselves tho...? Where in genshin are you ever gonna use just one character? I think he should mainly focus on team comps tbh :)

I can’t agree more! I also have both of them and I have to say both Childe and Ayato are machine guns when it comes to dmg and hydro application 💯 Ayato is very easy to use while Childe is complicated but it’s worth every second of his high dmg outcome

What’s complicated about the shit numbers he does with his elemental skill? My 15k per slash ayato drowns that nerfed harbinger into oblivion

@@JhonnyStone100 depends on the build. Childes burst can be over 200k in a single hit. Childe is more of a nuke and complex. Ayato is much easier and consistent.

@@JhonnyStone100 I have both childe and ayato, and I cant relate. My ayato does less dps than my childe even with his burst up. His hits themselves do more dmg but they hit more slowly. Also Childe's burst is better. I was disappointed when ayato was released because I was getting tired of running childe national in abyss every single rotation, but alas it has not got outdone yet. For reference, My Ayato has 70 cc and 200 cd with jade cutter (my only sword for him) and my childe has a rust with 60 cc and 160 cd. Same talents and artifacts.

I’ll make it simple for you, Vars’ inner whale is showing. By no means do you need their signature weapons to make them work. Constellations make them easier to use, but aren’t inherently necessary.

The fact that she is off-field is what makes her a support, not a main DPS. She will likely be mentioned in the upcoming top five support character video.

@@imbtt39 You're absolutely right. But Vars said he's only going to list his "top five" categories for DPS and Support. So all roles will be summarized into one of those two parent categories. He even mentioned that he wasn't sure whether to list Ei as DPS or Support, but he went with DPS since that's what most people use her for.

@@roxaroo Xiangling does the plurality of the damage in most National variations, including the Raiden one. Her teams need supports to be much more well-invested to match 5-star hyper-carry teams so Raiden (plus Xingqiu and Bennett tbh) do a lot of damage but Xiangling is the investment priority for a reason

@@Eyeyorot can do exactly the same at C0, a very small portion of the damage comes from the skill. You do it once before the Burst. Then when you come out of the Burst animation you can do like 1 charge attack before you have to swap back to the anemo unit to reapply VV shred. By the time you swap back to her it's almost out of CD already. But, don't worry, you don't need to justify your C1 to me.

That's against 2 enemies. Problem is if you have 3 enemies, it's something like 6k% and more enemies you have - lower the damage is per single enemy

@@Matt_82 , actually what I've said is not true. Ayaka already outdamages beidou if there's more than 2 not 3. Point is, beidou dmg doesn't scale with amount of enemies. It's always 11k% unless it's 1 enemy then it's lower. Ayaka and other characters can scale their burst with amount of enemies infinitely.

I agree. Hu Tao is one of the few characters that is the most efficient to triple crown as well. She gets a significant dps boost from all three talents. She was my first 5 star and ever since, the game has been on easy mode. The only downside I'd say is that she isn't as great against multiple enemies as she is in a single target situation especially if you don't have her C1. But that's not specific just to Hu Tao and you can easily counter it with good cc.

I wouldn't say consistent if there's a lot of enemies and you only have c0, its a struggle. Hu Tao is arguably the best foe ST but with crowd I always see myself suffering.

I use hu Tao but if you think she’s the most consistent then you’re delusional. Doesn’t perform well in aoe scenarios, she isn’t the most op nor the most consistent, She has every advantage in the game yet she only makes it this far. What I’m saying is that with all the perks she has you’d expect her to be higher, xiao who has no reaction damage nor dedicated supports nor proper team comps is already almost on her level

There's gonna be soon another run of childe, and im seriously considering getting him now as my first 5star main dps, is it worth it? Also as I remember I did about 40-50 pulls year ago but didn't get him, does it means now i can make another 30-40 and get him with 50% chance? I mean does the pity carries from year ago?

@@judasiscariot6263 That's correct, the "pity" is usually carried through one banner to another. I have two secondary accounts that I often ignore for months straight; as far as I have noticed the pity has always triggered in spite the long time-windows of inactivity (from 2 to 3 months). There is a 50% risk you won't get Tartaglia of course, you may get either Mona, Diluc, Jean, or Qiqi instead, but at least the next 80 pulls after that loss will give you the featured character, guaranteed. You can save up for a future character you really like in that case. I think Tartaglia is worth the primogems, but it's true I already had some knowledge of the mechanics of this game when I finally got him. I also happened to own and play with the support characters he has best synergy with (Bennett, Beidou, Sucrose and Xiangling). Unlike other DPSs, the game doesn't tell you how to manage Tartaglia's E cooldowns, so you have the absolute freedom to manage this yourself. I like this, personally, but some players who prefer the game to hold their hand and guide them on how to play a character may find this confusing and frustrating once they realize they forgot to manually deactivate Tartaglia's melle stance and find themselves sitting on a long cooldown. I believe one of the reasons Ayato came out to the community as a better hydro alternative is that he's much easier to play with. You simply press a button and big damage shows up. xD (I have him on my secondary account). There is nothing wrong with prefering a character that is easier to play with of course. Not everybody has fun with this type of challenge after a tiring day of work or school. Tartaglia is much more tactical. But that is precisely why I have so much fun with him. I think this is also what makes Genshin fun. It has characters for all types of player.

Childe and Xiangling usually share 50/50 on DMG in international of the same amount of investment is put into them, and who is stronger heavily depends on the 4th slot and on the amount of enemies, Xiangling being more important if single target, and being around the same as Childe in multi target, if succrose is on the team, then Xiangling is a little bit better than Childe, but if it is Kazuha, Childe is a little better.

Fyi this comment is meant for those who can't control their gacha spending, and not necessarily a shot at u Vars. Great vid! I hope MiHoYo sees your vids someday and actually does something about the long term game state
