My top 5 episodes? 1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Remake with AVGN (It's my go to review when I'm feeling bummed.) 2. The Cell 3. IT (Which made it onto the top 5 list! Wooo!) 4. The matrix trilogy 5. Face/Off. I wanna see Critic do the Mission Impossible series with Tom Cruise.
Channel Awesome Apparently only two of mine made it into the top 10 . . . take a guess on which ones. 😜 Hocus Pocus It Suicide Squad Swan Princess Signs P.S. Nearly time for an Old vs New for Beauty and the Beast. Speaking of, maybe you could do Old vs New for the Parent Trap, Cheaper by the Dozen, and Yours, Mine, & Ours. Also, could you add The Last Unicorn, The Black Cauldron, Miss Peregrine's, and A Series of Unfortunate Events to your list of movies to review (if you haven't already)? Thanks!! 😊
This just reminds me of how epic I think Doug Walker's character, The Nostalgia Critic is. It also reminds me that there are an unbelievable amount of haters. People who think he's a liberal nutcase, people who thinks he runs a shady business, and people who just find his voice annoying. I know that it's just like, my opinion, man, but I just don't understand how people don't fucking love this man.
Luigi369 Foodfight and Last Airbender reached 3 million views on his other channel before Sharkboy and Lavagirl...in fact, that review still hasn't gotten there yet.
10 years ago today Nostalgia Critic was born 99 years ago today Steve Rogers was born. 241 years ago today the United States was born. Today's a good day.
J Grandmaster Speak for yourself. Here in France, we've got to wait a bit longer for Bastille Day to come along so that we can start blowing stuff up in celebration and eat some dodgy barbecue.
Jake Parks #1 Tom and Jerry Movie #2 Batman and Robin #3 Top 11 Mindfucks #4 Bebes Kids #5 Avatar the Last Airbender (note this might not be my exact top 5 since there are so many episodes and I can't remember them all)
I want a worst list too. Part of growing up and looking back at old work is looking at the bad parts and seeing how you've improved and what you still need to improve upon.
worst is probably The Good Son (he lost his voice so Microsoft Sam did all the dialogue in the review) or the live action Scooby Doo (the last one before he originally retired Nostalgia Critic).
DefenestratedMessiah I would say Christmas with the Kranks, but that might be a personal bias because nothing pisses me off more than someone being passive aggressive towards their criticisms when a majority of people had valid critiques.
Interesting idea. It'd be nice to have everyone admit about the ones they just didn't find funny. Unfortunately, I feel like it would just unleash an endless amount of people who are just biased against all the videos 2013 and forward.
"Signs" is my absolute favorite!! I love the alien translation. I was litterally crying from laughter through that review.Congrats on the 10 years! I have followed for 7 years! (sheesh time goes by fast)
you know, I have to congratulate you doug on making 10 year worth of video and making almost all of them solid. people like avgn's new video's aren't as good as his older video but every single video you have made is atleast decent.
I'm surprised the Christmas Tree didn't at least make the honorable mentions. The jokes surrounding the mayor alone had me in stitches. Simple effects, but I haven't laughed as hard as I did watching that review for the first time in quite a while.
I've been along for the whole ride. It all started with a genius idea, a AVGN rival, .. and.... a reaction video to the 6th Harry Potter book coming out? Lol.
My favorite episode was the Moulin Rouge review. You could tell a lot of effort and love went into it and it also was the episode that birthed his theme song.
Best episode has to be when they introduced Bill. He added so much to the show that I barely recognise the episodes before him, just such a great inclusion to the team. He, in essence, _was_ the team!
The Last Airbender review is easily my favourite since watching it a few months back convinced me to watch an incredibly awesome show that passed me by as a kid.
10 years, 3 channels over 300 reviews, over 273 videos of original content from other people, 3 movies, 1 dvd, over 2 shows, over 104 crossovers, and he still doesn't have 1 million subscribers. WOW🤔🤔😧
The phenomenal ones This channel has only been around for a very short time. There have been a few over the 10 year span due to copyright strikes and such, so it's not at all representative of all of the people that have subscribed to him or followed his content before. In fact, a lot of people hold up the critic as kind of an internet legend still and he's inspired a lot of people. So in reality, it's just that the channel is so new compared to the amount of time he has been making content, not that barely anybody recognizes him. Though it still is weird that this channel has so few subscribers
Olivia Martin the room was mine too and i thought food fight would be on there as well as the wickerman or ghost rider lolAlthough i disagree with what he said about once upon a forest i still love his jokes about it lmao
10 years and you still don't have a million subs... You should be at least 5 million by now!! This is probably the most under subbed channel I've ever seen. Love your vids
Honestly I consider Doug Walker to be the best skit writer on youtube. I know a lot of people complain about how long they can get, but I'm seriously impressed at what he can do with his movie footage-free reviews.
Huge congrats on 10 years guys! I found NC & Channel Awesome somewhere around a year, year and a half ago, and I've watched so much of your content since then, and loved every second of it. It's been so much fun, and it's taught how to view films through a critical eye and has added a whole new level of enjoyment when watching movies, or pretty much anything actually. I find myself noticing and appreciating all these little things that go into making a movie I never noticed, and in some cases never even knew about before, and it makes me love great movies even more, and even to appreciate the hidden gems here and there in otherwise crappy movies. But, more than anything, you've made me smile and laugh during times of great pain and depression, and every time I see a charity shoutout, you give me hope in people that some days, I have a lot of trouble finding. Seeing you use your platform to spread the word about charities doing good work is amazing, and while your content is more than enough for me to love you guys, the charity shoutouts made me truly admire and respect you. So, for all these reasons and many more, congratulations om 10 years of NC, and thank you so much for letting us take this crazy ride with you. Oh, one last thing, where's the best place to recommend a charity for a shoutout? There's one charity and disease in particular that it would mean the world to me to see you give a shoutout.
Congratulations!! You have lightened up my life so so so so much for the years and I cannot even put into words how much you and your entire team mean to me. THANK YOU for all your hard work!
Wow, ten years. The years really do spin on don't they? My Top 5: 5. Old Versus New: Spiderman 4. Batman and Robin 3. Son of the Mask 2. Top 11 Best Villain Songs 1. The Neverending Story 3 Honourable Mentions go to The Wickerman, The Best/Worst episodes of Avatar, The Christmas Tree, The Grinch, Signs, and Dungeons and Dragons.
I was kind of disappointed by the voting, as it skewed toward the older stuff. I have been watching all 10-years (I honestly don't remember how I found it), but the quality from the beginning to now is night and day. I have gotten so that I much prefer the clip-less, or mostly clip-less work to see the growth of Doug and Rob as story-tellers, and their great cast and crew, from Malcolm, Tamara, and Rachel to Jim and Barney. Doug began as a comedic critic, but now he's so much more. Early reviews on this list like It and The Room ARE classics, but I voted for Pixels and while the Room would definitely be top 5 for me, it might not be top 3 anymore. There are critics who have done some things similar to what Doug was doing in 2007, and no doubt his show might never have existed without the legends at MST3K paving the way, but no one is doing what he does now. He's like Walter White in Breaking Bad when he compared the 'competition' to himself as 'grade school tee-ball vs. the New York Yankees.' Or, to honor the Chicagoans who make this show: Doug, Rob and co. are Phil Jackson the head coach, and their competitors are Phil Jackson the President/GM.
Pixel is my first ep from NC, I know him from AVGN That ep is amaze me since I though he will just rant about movie, but he not, he also put great message to Adam Sandler Later I watch all his ep that I can find for me I like Jurassic world most, although I like movie but many thing he said is spot on that I LMAO
Heath D L Well, I can only speak for myself but at least for me the older episodes simply are thousand times better than the newer episodes. The comedy in the older ones is just way funnier IMHO. Back in the days of the older episodes I used to love NC because I laughed out loud with pretty much every episode. But when it comes to newer episodes I just don't find them anywhere near as funny as the old ones. I mean sure, there are some really funny ones (Christmas Tree & Jack and the Beanstalk) but mostly the new ones just don't have the same comedic timing and jokes that make me burst out laughing. And the acting in them tends to still be a bit too cringey for my tastes. I will admit that everyone's gotten way better with their performances over the years and I don't find the newer clipless reviews nearly as embarrasing to look at but they still don't have me in stitches like the older episodes did almost without exception. But as I said this is simply my opinion and not meant to be a knock on anyone but I get the feeling that for many NC fans it's similar where they just feel that the older NC episodes were funnier on average & had more classic great episodes (Titanic cartoons, The Room, It, Thomas the Tank Engine, Suburban Commando, Garbage Pale Kids, Care Bears movies, Cartoon All-Stars Drug PSA cartoon, Howard the Duck, Captain Planet, Cool As Ice, TMNT films, etc.). And the fact that a lot of the old episodes spawned memes that took on a life of their own also supports that. But obviously some like the newer ones more and that's fine too but for majority most of the classic episodes are the older ones.
Some Guy You make a lot of good points, and having been watching since 2007, I concede that I probably laughed out loud more frequently at some of the earlier episodes than at the more recent ones, but the newer ones are very funny and are better stories. Early episodes were short and closer to the MST3K format than to what Doug and co. are doing now. But for a while now, Doug's been making a TV-quality show that airs a new episode bi-weekly. I don't guffaw at every episode of South Park or It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but I enjoy even episodes without side-splitting humor as long as I'm entertained and laughing throughout. An example with Always Sunny would be the excellent 'Charlie Work,' episode from a few seasons ago, which had few laugh out loud moments, but was funny and is considered by many to perhaps be the best episode of the entire series. Doug and Channel Awesome are simply playing at a far higher level today than ever before, and while I was initially skeptical of the clip-less or mostly clip-less reviews, they are now my favorites and if I did my own top 10 (or 11?) list of my favorite NC episodes, I believe the majority would be episodes in the last few seasons.
I've been desperately waiting for somebody to do a review of that movie. If he does do it though, he needs to have an Aussie RU-vidr help him out, because only we Aussies can truly understand how bad that movie is.
Fan 4 Shtik, if that is how its written, is definitely the best review. You have no idea how hard I laughed about the 'dark room' problem and actually, I haven't even watched the movie yet. All the same, this channel is amazing. Congrats!!
Same. One of my favorite reviews was A.I. I loved the TMZ side plot throughout the review. Another one I enjoyed was the Langoliers. "Scaring the little GIRL!?"
I was thinking about that, but I ended up giving my vote to the winner. I love Star Wars but Tommy's scene in the roof is just too much for this world. Even so, I'm surprised it isn't in the list, the SWHS is one of the most awfullest things ever...
I'm still peeved that Alone in the Dark wasn't a voting option. I mean c'mon! Spoony and Linkara and NC talking through text-to-speech combined with the horrors of the Boll will just always seem to be film critique perfection to me.
Thank you, Doug. Really, sincerely thank you. I've been watching your reviews for eight years now, throughout primary school and high school, if had ever had a crappy day, me and my sister who put on an episode. Now I'm at college and I'm still watching! :)
HAPPY 10TH ANNIVERSARY!!! 😃 I have been following you guys for the past 10 years and you have really done an amazing job! You also kinda inspired me to review stuff too (mostly text-based reviews on Facebook of video games, board games, comic books plus movie-related top 10 lists). To me personally, you guys along with other internet reviewers you and AVGN had inspired has really been a salvation for a geek like me 😁 Cheers!
Happy 10th anniversary, guys!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗. I'm really glad you guys decided to make this show. Since the beginning, NC has always made me laugh. Keep up the good work!!!! 😁😁😁
My top 10 episodes (In no order): 10. The Last Airbender 9. The Cat in the Hat 8. Disney Afternoon 7. The Neverending Story 3 6. Sonic the Hedgehog 5. The Christmas Tree 4. Garbage Pail Kids 3. North 2. Captain America 1. Mortal Kombat: Annihilation Honorable mentions: Short Circuit, The Care Bears Movie, Batman and Robin, Alone int he Dark, Superman IV, Balto,
I don't keep up with many RU-vidrs after a couple months, but I've watched and enjoyed your videos for years now and I love every second of them. Congratulations on 10 years!!!! Also, I haven't finished the video but if The Room isn't the #1 I swear...
Man, these ten years have flown by unbelievably fast. I'm glad I've been watching since the start, and I can't wait for another ten years with you guys. *Keep on critiquing!*
My favourite NOSTALGIA CRITIC video is his review of Lês Miserables, sure, moulin rouge is a great review but the songs in Lês Mis are just so catchy, I just love it, Paul and Kyle have amazing performances, I love it.
Ok, I have to say that Barney is the possibly the best Dad in the world, since not only does he support his son all the way through he also helps him with his productions which is amazing! So good for you guys.
