He follows the formula to be fangirled over perfectly - tall, slim >physically attractive, has a terrible family and is later on hated by the world > fangirls pity him, becomes dominant when he turns evil > seen as sexy, character goes through a big dramatic psychological change > tumblr/DA artists now see his past self and present self as two different characters and draw them as a yaoi couple > even more fangirls [not a fan of the last one to be honest]. Use the same formula for Loki from Marvel.

I'm honestly surprised you believe the third Madagascar movie is the worst of the series. I personally love the movie for the fact that the comedy was still funny for me, the animation, especially during the circus scenes are beautiful, and the circus characters have some depth and are pretty funny. I understand the concerns of the villain being a rehash, but its a minor problem in an otherwise fantastic film. I found it better then Paranorman

For me: Top 5 Best: 5. Paranorman (8/10). 4. Madagascar 3 (9/10) Humor is great, and my favorite of the trilogy. 3. Rise of the Guardians (9/10) Amazing 2. Secret World of Arrietty (10/10) Another Miyazaki Master-Piece 1. Wreck It Ralph (10/10) No surprises Honorable Mention: Brave (8/10) Not Pixar's best, but still better than the Cars movies. Top 5 Worst: 5. Pirates: Band of Misfits (8/10) Very good movie, just not as much as above. 4. Frankenweenie. (7/10) This movie is decent. 3. Lorax (5/10) Mixed bag, but still, those horrible songs! 2. Hotel Transylvania (5/10) Not terrible, but fairly mediocre. 1. Ice Age: Continental (4/10) Just die before it gets worse!
Best: 5. I'm not really the biggest fan of this movie. I didn't like how most of everyone in Blithe Hallow was mean to Norman (especially his own father), but I will agree that it does get better as it goes on. The stop motion is great and Aggie Prenderghast was actually a very good villain. 4. I think people are a little harsh on this one by saying it's not as good as most of the other Pixar films; It's a pretty good movie. The look of the film looks great and the magical elements were interesting; although Elinor could get a little too strict for my taste. 3. This was really good! The animation was great, the characters were fun and it can get really colorful. 2. I kind of feel embarrassed to say this, but I haven't seen this movie. It does look good though. 1. This movie was really good . Like "Guardians", it's very colorful, the animation's very creative and I really felt for the characters, especially Ralph and Vanellope.

Guys, listen to the intro: 2012 has proven to be a fantastic year for animation. Not only did most of them end up being a great success at the box office, but they also end up to be quite good critically as well. Heck some of them are even considered the most memorable overall movies of the year. Really? Some movies in 2012 have proven to be the most memorable movies of 2012? Translation: there were movies in 2012.

Ice Age 4 hurts me. I remember seeing the first film at the cinema as a kid, and it's still one of my favourite childhood films. The second one is okay, the third one, although nowhere near as charming as the first, is freaking hilarious. The fourth... guh... However, for some reason the trailer for the fifth one made me smile. Will wait til it comes on Kisscartoon, though >:-D
I agree with you. I loved the first film and enjoyed the second and third film as a kid and teen. When I heard there was going to be a fourth film, I was excited but when I saw it I was extremely disappointed. Not worse but extremely disappointed. The fourth film is basically a rehash of the second film by switching the roles of the characters and adding in more cliches and characters to change everything to make it feel different but ends up just a rehash.
Arriety - Loved! (Studio Ghibli never ceases to amaze!) Lorax - It was okay. Definitely better than the creepy live-action Cat in the Hat movie Madagascar 3 - Hilarious! How could animat not love the crazy and totally obsessed animal control lady? I swear she was so over the top that she was one of my personal favorite bits of the movie! I also enjoyed the Fireworks sequence and all of the circus animals. Brave - Nice. (I wished people would make more mother/daughter movies. It's a real shame there aren't more of them out there.) Ice Age 4 - Just...why? I am so tired of this franchise that I didn't even bother watching Collision Course. /cringes/ The Pirates: This to me was a lot of fun to watch! Plus I love pirate movies! ParaNorman - I fell asleep watching it actually. Hotel Transylvania - I thought this one a lot of fun actually! I love how loose and zany the animation is in this one. (It's always nice to see a father/daughter movie. There needs to be more father/daughter movies.) Frankenweenie - I don't know why, but I fell asleep watching this one; which is weird because I normally love Tim Burton's work. I didn't get to see the thirty minute short, but this one was really boring to me. Wreck-It Ralph - Totally awesome! Definitely deserved the number one best-animated movie for 2012 spot! Rise Of The Guardians - I really loved this one! Pitch Black remains as one of my favorite animated villains.

I like the lorax, and I'm also ok with the ice age film, but hotel Transylvania is a meh for me. (It's just the sequel I can't stand) so I guess there were'nt any films I completely disliked this year. Yay, me!
My opinions on the 2012 animated movies Secret World of Arrietty - Miyazaki never ceases to amaze me. The Lorax - This was so boring. The Lorax was barely in it. Pirates: In an adventure with scientists - Excellent stop motion movie and British animated movie in general. Madagascar 3 - Not too bad. Brave - Loved it very much. So epic, dark and funny. Ice Age 4 - This is where it should have ended. ParaNorman - Brilliant film, thanks to Laika Hotel Transylvania - Great film. Love Genndy Tartakovsky’s work. Frankenweenie - I did like it, but I am not a fan of Black and White. Great film regardless. Wreck-It Ralph: Excellent Disney movie, great characters, great video game cameos and references and definitely worthy for a sequel. Rise of the Guardians - Oh my, is this film excellent. One of Dreamworks best. Not getting sucked into the fan art, though.

Arietty: I think I saw that a few years ago, it was good! The Lorax: Ehh, musical numbers are annoying, and the filler is annoying, what worked in the book worked what wasn’t in the book didn’t work at all. The pirates: watched it once, it’s decent not the best Aardman film but it’s nice Madagascar 3: my personal favourite of the Madagascar series, it had the perfect ending! Brave: not the best Pixar film but it’s really great! Ice Age 4: ugh, blue sky, this is going too far! Paranorman: Great film from Laika and nice follow up to Coraline! Hotel Transylvania: funny film! Frankenweenie: scary and emotional, sure the ending does kind of mess up the moral but it’s good enough that I’m willing to let that go! Wreck it Ralph: one of my favourite Disney films, very clever, heartwarming and has one of the best twists! Rise Of The Guardians: FAVOURITE DREAMWORKS FILM OF ALL TIME!! (Plus I can see my baby boy as a bunny, 🥰)

Hotel Transylvania's biggest downfall, IMO, is the contrived love story (easily the worst aspect of the film, it only exists fr stupid tension). If Mavis were written out of it, there would've been more screen time to develop the "human wanders into monster hotel" plot and Dracula's backstory.
A couple other problems with 'The Lorax' (aka the second- worst Seuss movie ever, after 'Cat in the Hat'): 1. It completely rapes the source material, removing pretty much all of its charm. Only a couple lines from the book are even included in the movie, and the ones that ARE included are often either misquoted (i.e. The description of where the Once- Ler now lives: In the book, it was "Where the grickle- grass grows"; In the movie, it's "Where the grass never grows"), or even worse, openly ridiculed (The girl in the movie describes the truffula trees using their description from the book: "The touch of their tufts was much softer than silk, and they had the sweet smell of fresh butterfly milk." The boy, upon hearing this, says, "What does that even mean?", and the girl responds "I know, right?"). It's like the movie's writers bringing Dr. Seuss back from the dead just long enough to tell him "What you wrote sucks and makes no sense, so I'll make it funny!" 2. The message. First off, they replace the book's subtle yet sobering message of "People need to care more about the environment around them if anything's going to get better, and it all starts with you," with an ultra- preachy and dumbed- down (When you have to dumb down the message of a Dr. Seuss book, something is definitely wrong) message of "Trees are cool, corporations are EVIL!" Second, as Animat touched on a bit, that is an mind- bogglingly hypocritical message for the movie to have, considering how many well- publicized corporate tie- ins the movie had, ESPECIALLY Mazda using the movie to promote a new SUV.
another thing. there is a new sudden upcoming obsession with the easter bunny from rise of the gaurdians.... Its been going since the movie came out but its been growing. heck I love the character so it comes to show how well people love it.
Reading these comments, it's downright disturbing how many people actually thought The Lorax was good. Musta been easily impressionable little kids when they saw it... I stand by my last comment. That movie was downright TORTURE.

I think this is about animated films released in theatres. Though if its animated films in general then no.1 would be 'Where the Dead go to Die?' (If you couldn't tell, 2012 was a great year for *theatre* films but did give us some of the worst animated films, period.)

I don’t care what the critics say about the sequels, the Ice Age franchise will forever remain one of my favourite animated film franchises next to Shrek, Toy Story, Despicable Me, and How to Train Your Dragon. And I respect your opinion on the sequels.
