You know I initially had the opinion of that any type of weaponry should not be widely available to the public like the US has, but you know what? I WISH the UK allowed this. And tbh it is because of this channel, my opinion has changed completely. Love your videos fellas, you've got some damn impressive weaponry
+Jan Pietje The last time i checked on my globe switzerland is a eropean country. it is not in the european union but as long as they don't cut along the borders and try to fly it away they probably can't escape from the european continent.
Garrett Basta Unfortunately Jeff is right. Personal preference aside, the Scar is a piece of crap. I love the Scar personally, but i would never touch one for any purpose other than as a range toy. Probably the most fun I have ever had shooting a rifle. But... It is a poorly designed piece of very expensive junk. The reciprocating charging handle gets caught on your support hand, I’ve seen the thing have 4 failures of different types in under 60 rounds with good ammo. The thing is super accurate, but i would never trust my life to it.
Ok guys. My initial post is my subjective opinions about looks. I think it's a beautiful rifle. I have no idea how it performs, though FN herstal has a great reputation and my nation are using modded FN-rifles (FNC) as our standard issue military rifle.
Elestro Air-soft. I agree that the Scar is beautiful. I also love FN products, they are usually some of the best. I tend to look at FN a lot like I look at H&K. They make great products (for the most part), but are very expensive for what they are. The FAL is one of my favorite rifles. It is not as ergonomic as the Scar. The Fal is also way heavier and more bulky than the Scar, but overall, i think it is a better rifle.
+Bryan Smith The gen 3 is older and therefore thought of as more reliable. I haven't heard of too many people that dislike the gen 4 improvements, they just want something that has been trusted for a long time. In 5 years time they will probably use gen 4s.
+ZombifiedPyro not too sound like a douche but that's kinda not what I was looking for all you're really telling me is that one is older than the other and I don't think one being older than the other is much of a good reason to choose something over. I know they've talked about the gen 4 paint not being as good as the gen 3 but that's about all I know
Bryan Smith ah, I haven't heard that before. Personally I would want the improvements of the gen 4. But time will tell if they really are improvements.
+Bryan Smith that's not all he said. The gen 3 has been around longer thus it has proven its reliability. The gen 4 is not yet old enough to prove its self so some are waiting for time to tell.
Don't know a ton about firearms yet but I'm getting there and I'll buy my first soon. I love how you guys take the time and describe the history of the firearms very informative thank you for these videos.
My five; Saiga AK74, Ruger 10/22 with Carbine Kit, Mossberg 500 20 ga with sawed off barrrel, Glock 19, Colt 1911 70 series. Buy them and love them forever :)
I was pleased beyond belief to see the very first gun mentioned was a 5.45 AK-74 variant. Man I love the 5.45 cartridge, and it my gun-heart happy to hear that you do to!
It's funny to hear Erik talk about the Mosin vs K31 debate, because in Switzerland the K31 fills the same spot as the Mosin does in the US: It's dirt cheap, usually between 100 and 200 Swiss Franks for a standard MilSurp version and you can find them in the dozens in any given gun store. Ammo is plentiful because the obligatory shooting for the military can be done with any standard issue rifle, past or present. The ammo isn't as cheap as it could be however because it is a full size rifle-bullet after all. The guns are also obtainable without a gun permit if you are a swiss citizen and haven't committed any violent crimes. And because of all of this combined with the amazing reliability and accuracy there is also a huge aftermarket for mods, from old MilSurp diopters and cleaning kits all the way to high-tech polymer stocks. The only issue is that spare magazines are hard to come by and can be almost as expensive as the rifle itself because they were only issues with one magazine attached and no spares.
I almost put my CZ75 SP-01 Tactical on my list but went with the KT PMR-30 instead just for the fun factor! 30 rounds of 22WMR in a handgun that weighs LESS than a loaded AR-15 magazine is some serious fun!!!
You guys mentioned Irish Enfields, as matter of interest I saw a huge amount of those here in Ireland back in 1990. My father served in the Irish Defence Forces an I got a tour of a weapons store. There were thousands of firearms wrapped and never used. Various models of Enfield's, Webley revolvers, Mauser c-96's, Lugers and much more. In 2012 I was doing some research for my degree and got to visit another such store. Brens, FN FAL's and No.4 Enfields by the score, many never used. I was like a kid in a candy store.
I'm with chad here. I absolutely love the m1a / m14 it's my #1 favourite rifle because it's reliable, American made, great sights, and the semi auto 308 round with the ability the top it off every 5 shots with strippers, plus detachable mags, knocks it out of the park with me! With that being said can you guys plz review a norinco m1a.
I just bought a SCAR 17S this week and my wallet and face are both sore. Wallet since it was over 3 grand after tax and face since I can't stop smiling. Up next: Benelli M4 because fuck pumping and I want to own the shotgun I've used in video games for the last decade. Plus, pump actions have substantially more recoil than semi auto shotguns.
I can't understand why they never had a Mauser in the top 5 either an what about the colt 1911 or any configuration for that matter Wilson combat do a flawless 1911 and there beretta 92 a1 in burnt bronze is my favourite handgun bar none but I guess everyone's entitled to their opinion
I have a Scar Heavy that i was thinking of selling its brand new in the box never fired that ive had for 2 years but this video has changed my mind the way all of the SHTF scenarios that might come light. Thank you
Keep in mind as you read; I'm Canadian so my list reflects what I "can have" lol 1- 1911 (currently own my first gun, Kimber Custom II. 100% reliable so far, but just broken in) 2- AR15 (I plan to get an built lower and build how I want from there) 3- M1A (I can still get Norinco in Canada therefore I will have a cheap but forged milspec reciever to build on) 4- Remington 870 Tactical (nuf said) 5- Lee Enfield 303. (eventually I will inherit Dad's, which was passed down to him after getting a scope and Monte Carlo stock. Will probably replace scope as it's from the '60s) Wild Card- My "dream gun" Springfield Armory Professional 1911
I just bought a SCAR and I plan on buying a Professional in a few weeks. Half tempted to be cheap and get the TRP but it's just not the same. Years ago I wanted to own everything and I was going for quantity over quality, but after almost 2 decades of experience I realize that quality is far better than quantity. Owning a ton of guns is a logistical nightmare since they take up a lot of space and you have to buy ammo for several different calibers. Not only that but if you shoot tons of different guns on a regular basis I feel that you'll never master any of them. As boring as it is I think it's far better to train with only a few of your favorites and get scary good with them.
@@tjlovesrachel that's cold man! Lol In years since I acquired an AR and M14 both on ban list I'm pissed like probably over a million other Canadians On 2nd 1911 tho newer one's a Dan Wesson both 100% reliable (1900+ rounds through Kimber with 3 malfunction, 800+ through DW with zero malfunction yet)
I've only got a few faves; No 4 Enfield in .303, Mauser in 8mm, Winchester 200 shotgun (mine's 20 gauge,) and an Egyptian AK in a fiberglass stock. There was a great Indian-made Enfield in .308, too.
I have a family friend that has a couple Enfield and Garand Rifles and I got to check them out the other day. Beautiful craftsmanship and so iconic. I never realized how fricken heavy those guns are. Wow. I can’t imagine the load our troops had to tote into battlefields. I’ve already loved and admired our military both past and present but holding that Garand just made it so much more real and in-depth.
But the SCAR is also about a thousand bucks more. And is it really more reliable and accurate? They should do a test! We all know it's lighter and they both have been battle proven.
Mark's favorite top 5 1) German Luger 9mm 2) M1 garand 3) Walther P 38 4) mauser 98k 5) Smith & WEsson model 10 38spl revolver Wild card: Marlin 336 30-30 made before the Remington take over
SHTF choices to have with me. Chosen for not only quality, performance etc. but also based upon how common the ammunition is and their ease of use. Ruger 10/22 model 21133 w/ suppressor (22 ammo is available anywhere, even in anti-gun advocates houses ffs) Remington 700 customized for 300+ yards. (.308 is a lighter caliber than the 30.06 and any higher caliber rifles and still packs a mean punch from a long distance) Mossberg 500 12 gauge w/ collapsible stock. (12 gauge ammo is readily available and easy to find and would put anything or anyone down in close quarters. collapsible stock for ease of use indoors.) Sig P227 ( Simply because it is my favorite pistol to date. ) Ruger Mini-14 newer model with a collapsible stock, mid range scope elevated above the irons. (Takes 223 and 556 which are also very common calibers and the min-14 can eat any kind of ammo including cheap steel cased ammo like pussy with no problems. Go ahead and flame me for that choice but if you've never put one to the test you just don't know their capabilities.) Wild card: AA-12 automatic shotgun. Short, Medium, Med/Longer distances and this shotgun is devastating. No recoil. The amount of lead it puts out gives me a hard on. That is really the only reason why it's my wildcard lol.
Flame flame flame lol. I love the Mini-14 but you're lugging around a much larger and heavier rifle than an AR for no reason. Choose whatever you want but I never let aesthetics take precedence over effectiveness.
top 5 1) the 6.5 Grendel I just built, AR-15 frame, 24" Kreiger single cut bull barrel, timney two stage trigger, and wood furniture. 2) my Mosin Nagent 91/30 3) my yugo SKS 4) my 1922 Persian contract Czech built 8mm Mauser 5) my 1950's era Remington 522, semi auto tube fed .22 rifle wildcard: Gen 3 Glock 17 with fishscale slide, and RTF grip, 9" lone-wolf barrel and a front sight at the end of the 9" barrel.. one of one in the world. I tried to sell Lone wolf on the idea, but they said they quit making the 9" barrel and weren't interested
My five would be. 1. Browning sporter O/U shotgun (clays) 2. Winchester SX3 pump (practical shotgun) 3. Remington 597 .22LR with Volquartsen barrel, Hawke scope (target) 4. Alpha .357 ML Revolver. (plinking) 5. Remington 1858 Army ML .44 (black powder target) All of these are UK legal for their own purpose and use. I have 3 of them now, waiting on the Winchester and the Alpha.
I live in Ukraine (that's a huge post-Soviet piece of shit in the Eastern Europe, we got a fucking bunch of Makarovs) and I can tell you - Makarov is the worst fucking pistol ever. Maybe that's because I have no Cold War nostalgia, this can be a reason. Our soldiers who get those for duty just leave them at the headquarters 'cause it's not worth carrying.
Isaac Richardson It's not. Guys still fight with AK-47's made in the 50's. I have seen a cartridge in my friend's mag, made in 1949. Yes, sure, there are better equipped units and worse equipped. But generally, it is far from being modern. Which is sad.
Isaac Richardson Regardless of the fact that country is poor, all the officials think, that having twelve Bentleys is more important than giving weapons to soldiers, money to the educational system and some other stupid ways of spending budget.
Pistol wise, I can NEVER give up my genuine Sig Sauer P228 German made. Grea for accuracy, concealment, power & quality n reliability, I would love to see 8888 do a review on it. It was my chosen pistol during my army days
I just started getting into milsurps and recently bought a Mosin M91/59..... beautiful rifle, my favorite rifle that I have so far... Thanx Eric for turning me on to these beautiful pieces of history....
+The Exile I have the 16 in FDE and...before I owned it I thought it would look like shit. But I bought it anyways because it was like 1600 with a geissele trigger on gunbroker...and honestly...it doesn't look bad at all. It looks pretty nice.
cope_dipper you know it's funny because I don't like the desert tan on any other gun, just the SCAR. To me a grey SCAR is like a blaze orange AR.. you just don't do it. Same thing for polymer on an AK, wood all the way.
bamarolls2000 same here my mom and grandma took me to the river and set up a bunch of milk jugs full of water and i had so much fun poking holes in them i shot a whole brick of ammo b4 i knew it
A top 5...WOW!!! I must agree that is a tuff choice but a relatively easier pick for me than for you guys 1). 700 in 7mm weatherby mag 2). FNS in 40 s&w 3). 10/22 4). Springfield Socom 5).Colt Anaconda And my bonus would be... 6). The Marlin Guidegun. Nice video guys and thank you
Lance Kale Jackman that's because the guy in the glasses... his name is Eric... is the host after Barry passed.. and Chad is the co-host... so it makes sense that Eric talks more
I don't feel like I've fired enough guns enough times to have a top five, but my favorite gun to shoot is my Ithaca Model 37 Defense 8 shot. It looks like an old police shotgun and works well... Loads and ejects from the bottom... it just feels good to shoot and handle. Man, I love that gun.
Tika in 6.5 in a Aluminum chassis, AR with 18” match barrel with folding stock, CZ 457 in 22lr, FNC 509 in 9mm and a Remington 12 gauge with tactical upgrades.
You know, I came across your show on youtube and fell in love with it right away. I love hearing you guys talk and discuss different guns and other topics too. I used to be a gun owner but had to sell my guns due to personal reasons. I'm about to get back into shooting and owning some guns again. I get overwhelmed sometimes when you guys talk guns because I have never heard of some of the guns you talk about lol. I'll keep watching and hopefully learn some things along the way.
Mosin Nagant (first gun purchase), Turkish Mauser (main hunting rifle and what I learned reloading on), M1a suppressed with scope, Vepr in 7.62x54r with Zhukov stock, and a cut off double barrel shotgun.
Rifle list 1. Mossberg Patriot in 450 bushmaster with short barrel 2. Remington 783 in 223 Remington 3. Marlin XT-17 in 17 hmr 4.Remington 597 in 22 lr 5. Remington 870 express magnum in 12ga Pistol list 1. Ruger 22/45 mark iv in 22lr 2. Kimber 1911 in 45 3. Browning buck mark in 22lr 4. Canik TP9 in 9mm 5. Ruger SR9 in 9mm These are my favorite shooters, it is a little biased as these guns are what I have bought myself and I haven’t tried a few different kinds of guns such as an AR etc. Anyways these are my favorites from hunting to plinking to self defense (emphasis on plinking it’s what I love to do with my cousin). Love my rim fires, that’s what I started on and it grew. Love my hunting rifles just got a 450 as they are legal in Michigan now and got into the 223 as it was cheap to shoot and am so impressed by the accuracy and range along with the 17 hmr being the same. And as for the pistols I love plinking not really big on home defense that’s why 2 are 22lr’s and the rest are just a few we have picked up and the 1911 is there because of the cool factor and the kick and accuracy with the krimson trace sight.
1. FNAR with Vortex 4-12 viper scope 2.90s model Mossburg 500 with Viper System magazine kit 3. 9mm Ruger PC, it replace all and every bit of my 22lr shooting so fun 4. My Savage BA Stealth for the money it hits on the money, chambered in 6.5 Creedmoore. 5. By far the gun I would defend me my family or this contry with is my M14 it covers so many roles from longer range to short, and the one I have is extremely reliable and accurate.
I went to stand in my gun room for a moment and really took a moment to think about it. Here's my top5. :) - DSR-50 - Bushmaster M4A3 - Sako TRG-42 - Kimber Eclipse CustomII - Smith&Wesson 629 Performance Center Custom (As we always have to have the wildcard, it'd be CZ-75 Shadow SP-01 for me. :))
Mine is a an old Remington Model 11 shotgun after the Browning patent.. shot many deer with it and it doesn’t kick like a mule… shortened the barrel to 18” with rifle sights.. deadly accurate with slugs and great home defense with the extended tube holding 9 and I in the chamber…
My list comes from guns I've shot. 1. CZ-527 Carbine (7.62x39)- Whenever I go to the range, this is the one gun that always goes with me. It thrives on Mil-surp steel case ammo ($5 for 20 at the local Academy) and can (in my hands) take out a poker chip at 100 yards. If society falls and the world goes to hell, this is the gun I'll grab before any other. 2. Ruger 10/22 Takedown- I built mine from the ground up for a home defense gun. The trigger is such that if you ride it, you can spit ammo downrange with the speed of a light machine gun. I actually had an off-duty cop ask for paperwork for it because he thought I converted it to full-auto. It's currently serving as my brother's HDG. 3. Savage Rascal (.22lr.)- I got this to replace the 10/22 I gave my brother. I shot one belonging to an 8-year-old and just had to pick one up. Good, handy little rifle. 4. S&W Model 60- Mine's been modded to hell and back and currently serves as my main carry. Whenever I try to shop for a new revolver, I always leave the store empty-handed because the new wheelers, "just aren't as good as my 60." 5. Mosin Nagant 91/30- The gun I learned to shoot with. My first rifle purchase ever. The rifle that made me favor bolt actions over semi-autos. Though my original has gone to meet Sergei in the sky (due to a VERY bad reload), this rifle always holds a special place in my heart. WC- HK MP7- I was privileged enough to get to shoot one of these little bad boys at a PSA. The gun is easy to wield and easier to shoot. Easily my favorite PDW-type weapon.
Happy to see a swiss rifle making the list :) My list would be: -sig 550 -fn scar 16s -fnp 45 tactical -sig p226 -m1 garand Wild card: sako trg in .338 lapua magnum I really envy you guys for being able to have access to all these guns ;)
#5 SCAR .308 #4 Ak47 #3 P90 #2 AR15 SBR #1 Colt Python Maybe not the most practical all around guns but definitely my favorites . My wild card would be a Micro Draco SBR or maybe a KelTec KSG
I’ve been watching all your videos catching up on the ones I’ve missed for the last year now… and yes at first it was Barry that kept me looking for more but then Eric‘s manners and knowledge really started to grow on me. Then I found out That you’re both musicians I guess Eric collects guitars and Chad is a bass player. I really appreciate the passion that you both bring to the table and you have taught me much. I would love to meet your parents and I have an endless desire to know How do you ever came to finance such a large and sassy collection of guns much less guitars not to mention the land you have in Georgia which isn’t known as a real wealthy state because I too collect both firearms and music instruments. It’s not the cheapest hobby. I literally have to kill myself to get to my next want/need/gun/guitar. I just don’t know how you do it but man I wish I lived down the street from you. I remain fascinated kudos to your parents. I can’t imagine breaking into a musical discussion and finding out your taste. Thanks for the great job and keep up the great work RIP Barry.
This is late: However my top 5 are what some of you will think is silly. 5. Remington/ Bilika double rifle in 45/70. Needs the berrals regulared 4. Ruger security 6 .357 first hand gun i ever owned. 3 M1 Grande. First rifle I bought after I got married 36 years ago. 2. FN MK2 IN 5.7X28 love this hand gun. 1. FN PS 90. neat little weapon Wild card would be AR15 Ruger 10/22 Stogger coach gun 12ga. Double
good video! my top five would be. Remington 740 bushmaster 30-06 ruger 10-22 stainless / polymer Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm pistol Mossberg MVP .223 Varminter AR-15 (i like to add optics as well)
K 31 is my absolute favourite rifle to shoot. Just something about the feel, and working that straight pull bolt. Also I've got a highly customized Type 97. With the flattop and custom lower, with the new trigger, redesigned bolt release. Very fun gun, and decently accurate for yotes. Then the Jungle Carbine Enfield. After that is my Sako 85 in a BnC stock fully bedded. Shoots cloverleafs consistently with my rounds I made for it. Heck even cheap factory shoots good as well. Fluted stainless barrel in 7mag. Have laid down some giant Mulies with that rifle at over 500 yards. Including a 198 net monster buck. Last but not least, is my savage 17hmr. That thing has killed more gophers than have probably been run over in my province. Just one of those utterly accurate, nice spring day. Parking the truck with a few boxes of ammo, and just blasting gophers for hours on end with a nice cold beer. Ya, you shouldn't drink when using firearms, but I make the exception when gopher blasting. Relaxing as hell, and great for practising fundamentals. Plus I've been doing it since I was 8 yo so it's just one of them activities to start the spring off, and lots of fond memories.
off the top of my head, my top 5 would be my Winchester model 12, BSA pattern 17 in .30-06, the Cooey model 60, berretta silver pigeon 3, and my cooey model 84 in 16 guage.
When I first got to Fort Bragg in Nov. 1979, there was a Southern chain department store called "Roses". They used to have a constant supply of MilSurp rifles. And Ammo. I don't know why I never picked up one every payday. Mosin Nagents, M-1 Carbines and Garands, Vietnam, Korea and WW2 era Allied and Axis surplus weapons. And most of them were either side of $100.00. Its one of those things you regret in your old age. About 1980, on guy in my Troop had a Smith and Wesson 45 Gov't model, In the original case. He was in desperate need of cash when he ETS'ed. Started bargaining about $150.00! I was in his house just drinking beer after work. So, I was the first he offered to. My wife nixed it. And I missed out on the best gun deal of my life. That gun only had about one box put through it. Ugh!
1. Colt 1911 A1 2. Winchester model 70 30-06 3. Henry 45-70 lever action 4.Smith&Wesson 44. Magnum snub nose reviver 5. And the M -16 all time favorite. In TSA just so classic and famous from the Vietnam era
