Multi-sensory processing is having the ability to engage multiple senses simultaneously, such as driving a car or playing a musical instrument. It's a vital skill to work on and can improve overall sensory processing and modulation, as research supports sensory integration therapy to stimulate multiple senses at once. While we aren't sharing specific sensory integration therapy techniques in today's video, we are giving you our 5 favorite activities to include multi-sensory processing into your daily routine!

I enjoy your videos! I wish I had known about your videos when I was an educator. I work as a counselor now. I have some clients that exhibit sensory disorders. I am learning a lot from your videos and podcast. Thanks for all you both are doing to help so many people.

Can you please elaborate on and explain more about visual learners, auditory kearners and Kinesthetic learners. How can we know that our child is any one of these learners

What things can u add in a sensory bin for a child who has pica and will only touch dry items

Hi Penny, this is a tough one without knowing your kiddo personally, and there will be some trial and error with this, as with most things. We suggest a combination of wet and dry mediums, starting with dry things like corn, beans, rice. Then progress to dry noodles, then wet noodles, Orbeez, etc. just making sure they don’t eat it of course! And this might be a challenge, both moving to wet items, as well as not eating the items that are not edible, but working towards these things you may eventually see progress!

We have a few more suggestions :-) You could try uncooked oats. You could try cooked and dried edamame You could also try using gloves or other barriers when doing wet tactile medium sensory bins. Or even tongs may be helpful!

Most things you can eat that are dry any you can eat we use. Granola cornflakes rice oats dry couscous raw veg we use a ruff spot and I try to make a theme out of each. Put toys in tools even a book to got with the toy. He will read the book and eat what ever is there if I try to use non edibles I spend more time trying to get them out his mouth or telling him no which is unenjoyabpe
