He deserves to be number 2 imo. Only reason he isn’t is because of the Super Bowl factor. While I have no real argument to put him ahead of Brady. He played when in was expected that the QB would be annihilated every time he threw the ball. There was no rule’s protecting them. The defense could and was expected to cream the QB even after he let the pass go. If you compare what Marino did in his era and factored in the rule changes and over all changes to passing. There was no bubble screens or dump offs in Marinos day. Marino would put up over 6,000 yards in todays game.
Yeah, Brady never constantly had to play LT, Singletary and Da bears, Saints full contact defense, no 2pt. conversion smash mouth football with injuries like Joe had to his back from guys that would break your legs. Brady has been great, in free agency and powder puff, flags for anything, tuck rule don't wrinkle my uniform football...Joe Montana is the all time great and his Perfect Super Bowl records show it.
@@ianmalcolm8591 Imagine that. Along with best offenssive line in the league. Plus Joe is a gentleman. Brady was caught cheating twice. No excuses here man. Any coach would rather have Joe than brady.
Dan should at least be top three because Super Bowls don’t matter and here is why you need a better team to win a Super Bowl and really you cant just have a quarterback thats really good
@@adenruff1967 stats don’t tell you the full story brother, every sports fan that’s been watching for decades and understand stats will tell you this mate.
@hockeyfan1799 imagine that? Hes the only QB without a ring that is always in GOAT discussions. You have all these all time greats call Marino the goat with zero rings, it speaks for itself. He is the only QB that wasn't on a super bowl winning team that ever gets that kind of recognition. Dan was great with bad teams, other HoF QBs were great with great teams. Dan is the greatest QB the nFL has ever had, he revolutionized the position to how its played today
With a ring Marino would have been #2 or #3. Being a Miami fan i can't stand Brady but the rings will always make him #1. Montana was great af, but... if Marino had a Ring this would make it hard to argue the #2, because Marino was the Bar for all QBs for stats and records (which he held almost every prestigious qb record when he retired in 2000) when he left the game. Huge side note: If the rules were the way they are now during the Dan Marino Era, I think some of the records, if not most would still be held by him to this day. What a great and sound qb to watch. He set the standard for modern football even with it not in the passers favor like it is now, and he still made it look easy. True 🐐
Dan Marino never won a ring but he still was an elite qb but is not better than Brady,Montana, and Peyton. Drew Brees is better than Marino and y’all think Eli is better than him ridiculous
@@98cent13 you want to talk bout qb getting “carried by coaching and weapons” well than Montana got carried. He had Dwight Clark and Jerry Rice, running back Roger Craig and an elite defensive but in my opinion he didn’t get “carried by coaching and weapons” like you think Brady did
you call tom brady the Goat but knowly he lost against a back up quarterback in the super bowl do you think Joe Montana would have lost against a back up quarterback
@@taylorherndon8142 atleast he PLAYED in league how about you make the league then talk about how they pull bums off the street he is probably better at football than you and every "bum" in the era.
Number 5 I agree-Marino. Others I don't. For one thing, where the hell is Joe Namath? And Joe Montana ain't Just the greatest quarterback of all time.....he is the greatest ATHLETE of all time. Period.
Bro these Montana meat riders,he had all the help he could get, great coach, great receivers, and a good defense,he’s still great but I think Marino was better he carried those shit dolphins teams.
Rodgers is still the most talented QB I’ve ever seen his prime was something else can’t name how many times the ball always seem to bounce in favor of the other team in big games tho if he had 3-4 rings he’s easily the GOAT
A lot of people seem to have their reply tab turned off. Afraid of a little rebuttal, I see. Chicken!! I see other QBs are futilely trying to be placed ahead of Joe Montana. Let me tell you how it really is. Peyton Manning: I heard the excitement when he entered the league. It took me another year to watch one of his games. My first impression was that he could only operate under the specific guides of each individual play as it was drawn out on the chalkboard by the coaches. If something occured during a play that deviated from the preset play-plan, then Manning was close to unable to react well to it. He probably dreamed in his sleep, counting his steps and the receivers steps, and probably had cute little botanical names for how hard he was to throw the ball and checking for the direction of the wind. Joe Montana could play under any situation that occured: good routes-good, busted plays-no problem. His best stuff, well, and it was all good stuff. I don't rightly know, but I do know one thing: every stadium the Joe played in, the stands were filled with signs: signs of all kinds. Signs of humor and with regard for his accomplishmemts and very respectful good riddance. And the next year, too. Every stadium that the 49ers visited, as well. The stands, people with signs, expressing--No Joe, No Go. I don't think even Tom Brady has such a great send off. And Marino: he was paid the lose. Elway: what could have been acomolished if Bill Walsh, or Bill Parcells, Joe Gibbs, or Bill Belichick had been his coach? Did anyone of you smart guys out there notice that John Elway did not shake his ex-coach Dan Reeves's hand after the Super Bowl victory Broncos over the Falcons. Yeah, Reeves probably blamed every Bronco loss on Elway. That's the real story of how John Elway carried the team. That's why the Owner took the Lombardi Trophy, did not thank anyone and bypass Shanahan, and handed the trophy straight to Elway saying only, "This one is for John!" And when John Elway saw that he finally had the trophy in his hands, he looked at it; and who did he thank? No one. Because you know why? Because there was no one else to thank. He carried that team--on his back, in more ways then one, and there's was no one else to thank. The Owner offered Elway half ownership of the team, but Elway respectfully declined. He should have taken it, I say. But I understand why he didn't. And what did Elway do with the trophy? He held it up for his wife to see and to show her he had won. Because his wife also bore the team on her back with the frustrations, and agony's and the tears that Elway cried at night because he was under so much strain and he couldn't let anyone see that and never a word to speak. They bore it all. Yeah, Elway had nobody to thank. Just he and his wife. They won.
