It is a shame to find trash at these beautiful places. Unfortunately, some us locals carry the blame as well. I'll go to the beach, but if given the choice between a great river/waterfall swimming spot or a beach, I will chose the river spot 10 times out of 10. I LOVE a great river swimming spot. My last visit to PR we did Las Paylas in Luquillo for the first time and it was the highlight of our trip. The trip before that, we did Las Tinajas for the first time, and I absolutely loved it.

Hey Luis!! Thank you!! You might see snakes, but they’re native to PR and most of them are relatively small. As for gators and caymans, that has been a problem for a while. Every so often you see news of authorities capturing one, but they’re often in the same areas. Luckily, generally not at rivers people frequent for swimming.

is it better to go with a travel guide, or are the trails suitable for a beginner? i'm in good shape, just concerned about finding my way. also with parking do you just leave the car on the side of road next to trail head or will there always be paid parking?

I would say they are all easy to get to except Las Tinajas if you walk up river from the first parking you see on the street. There’s a parking at the very end of the street that has a easy trail to the riverbed.

La Mina is inside of the main recreational area but it is still closed because of damages after hurricanes. However, the Forest Service recently started to repair the trail to La Mina. Not sure when they’ll finish it, but I assume it’ll take some time. La Coca Waterfall is inside of the main recreational area and can be easily viewed because it is right next to the road after you enter the ranger’s checkpoint to enter. Hope that helps! 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷

That's amazing! I hope you'll be able to visit many great places during your visit! Try visiting the Cavernas del Rio Camuy which reopened recently. I made a video of everything you should expect from your visit. To book a tour with them, you can try to call the numbers in the description, but honestly they're short staffed so your best bet if that doesn't work is to just shop up to the park and hope they give you a tour. Not ideal, but worth it if you have the time.

@BriksTravelGuides
@BriksTravelGuides 2 года назад
Hey! There are some trails that are open and some that are closed. Your best bet for up to date info on the trails is the US Forest Service - El Yunque Facebook page or their website. The Juan Diego Trail that I talk about on this video is open, and the other spots are outside of the main visitor area so they are likely open as well. I’ve never been to Survivor Beach, but I’ve been told it is beautiful! However, you need to check if the tide is high because if it is, you might not be able to do the complete hike.

@BriksTravelGuides
@BriksTravelGuides 3 года назад
Hi Melissa! Thank you for the support! Yes, you could visit both. Puente Roto is extremely easy to get to so if you want to move to Angelito's Trail you'll be able to do it really quickly. Juan Diego is located within the main visitor area of el Yunque. To visit it you'll need to get a ticket on their website. It's about 19 minutes away from Puente Roto whereas Puente Roto is only about 2 minutes away from Angelito's Trail. Hope that helps!

My uncle used to be called to locate people who use to get lost en el Yunque.
@BriksTravelGuides
@BriksTravelGuides 2 года назад
Oh wow! Yeah, a lot of people get lost in El Yunque, specifically if they venture to the Naguabo side of El Yunque which doesn't have rangers monitoring the access. A lot of people get lost or injured when visiting the Infinity Pool de Naguabo, which is a challenging 3 hour hike just one way, and most people don't go adequately prepared for that.

Hi Cathy! Thank you so much for commenting! You would just need to reserve on the website recreation.gov for the Juan Diego Trail waterfall since it is located inside El Yunque's main visitor area. All others are outside of this area so you can go at any time, though you might need the permission of land owners to access trails such for Las Paylas. Hope that helps!

THANKS SO MUCH FOR MAKING THESE VIDEOS! Las Tinajas is one of the spots im going on my trip. Its the last week of August that we will be there. Does it start to rain during that time?
@BriksTravelGuides
@BriksTravelGuides 3 года назад
Hi Erika! Thank you so much for your comment and support! It really does depend. In general it always rains a bit since Las Tinajas is close to El Yunque which is a rainforest. If I were you I'd download a satellite weather app like MyRadar to check the weather on the days before and on the day you plan to go to Las Tinajas. If it's raining, I wouldn't go since it can be dangerous. Hope that helps! Be safe and enjoy Puerto Rico!

@@BriksTravelGuides thank you. I’ll go download that app now! Does it get really warm temprano en la mañana? I’m planning las tinajas before medio día because we’re catching the ferry to culebra around 12. Is that a good idea.
@BriksTravelGuides
@BriksTravelGuides 3 года назад
@@erikaamort2302 I haven’t taken the ferry to Culebra in a whole, but I think it would be a good idea to be early at the port just in case any situation arises. Personally I would do it on separate days.

Coming to Puerto Rico in a couple weeks: do you need to rent a 4x4 to get around the island? We are staying three nights at the Hyatt regency, then Rincon, then Laga Guajataca? Thanks!
@BriksTravelGuides
@BriksTravelGuides Год назад
Hey Chad! A 4x4 is not completely necessary. I have a hatchback sedan which has managed to go everywhere on my videos haha however, an SUV would be better to avoid any potholes (which there are many) on the streets. Hope that helps! 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷

Do you need tickets for the Visitor Center as well? Where and when do I purchase those, aside from the vehicle entry ticket? I am going to PR in a month!
@BriksTravelGuides

Hey Xavier! You don’t need tickets to visit the Visitor Center! Though there is an admission fee which you pay in the entrance. Hope you enjoy your visit to Puerto Rico! 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷

July 2021 we are looking for Sea Turtles. If there is a pretty good place to see them I'd love to know about it!
@BriksTravelGuides
@BriksTravelGuides 3 года назад
Hey Kelly! If you want to stay close to San Juan and see sea turtles you should go to the Escambron Beach. There are several turtles that swim around that area. If you’re looking to go further, check out Peña Blanca Beach in Aguadilla. There is amazing snorkeling there!
