Big brain strategy: Make a whole new commander deck JUST to play the pet card. Definitely haven't built a mono white Oketra because I love Children of Korlis so much
definitely didn't make a golgari land destruction & boardwipe deck with Sarulf just to troll people with Beast Within... (trust me, it works, I make my lands into creatures and they're immune to sarulf's wipe - but it's a slow janky meme deck)
Cauldron of Eternity is an alright card, but it’s perfect for one commander in particular; Grenzo, Dungeon Warden. Pretty much allows you to loop anything you want with Grenzo while also acting as a tertiary reanimation engine. Literally the perfect archetype for the card.
I was in a game where an opponent was playing a superfriends deck and Ult'ed Narset - Then they dropped a Humility - While not technically a win it was the most evil move I have seen in a commander game for a while
Also urzas tron lands. They are shunned in so many play groups but I've made a couple decks that basically use them to cheat out jank high drop artifacts just for fun that pose no real threat.
Great list! Speaking of Spelltwine, I run it in three of my EDH decks: - [Deekah, Fractal Theorist (U)]: Even if the opponent's spell is a dud, it still feels great because I'm creating a 6/6 fractal and two other potentially very large fractals. It felt really nice when I grabbed an opponent's Titanic Ultimatum from their yard, then my own Mnemonic Deluge that I milled into my own yard targeting their Rishkar's Expertise, getting to cast it 3 times! So many fractals! - [Satoru Umezawa (UB)]: This is a Ninja/Mill deck that aims to cast its opponents cards and ninjitsu-s out awful stuff like Consuming Abberation and Miro Vosk, Mind Drinker. I wait until my opponent mills out something tasty and then I cast it for myself! - [Merieke Ri Berit (WUB)]: This is another deck that mostly runs as a very defensive control strategy that can spin Merieke like a top. It also focuses on casting cards from the opponent's deck and graveyard and Spelltwine works out pretty well in that regard.
A few of mine: Immortal Coil: 2BB for a Phyrexian Arena that makes you lose if your graveyard is empty. Don't play it without Krark-Clan Ironworks on the field. Liege of the Tangle: It's fun to animate the artifact duals for a gaggle of indestructible trampling 8/8s but it's not worth all those deck slots. Swans of Bryn Argoll: Draw 13 cards off of Blasphemous Act? Yes please! But the hybrid mana cost ruins what would otherwise be an incredible card for Nekusar decks. You can't easily take advantage of its effect without red or green. Makes me just wish Soulfire Grandmaster could be your commander. Heliod, the Radiant Dawn: The back half is basically Vedalken Orrery + Omniscience if you're playing a group hug or party draw strategy. The front half is incredibly lackluster, however. All it does is return a non-God enchantment from graveyard to hand. Kinda weak for 2WW. At least it's easy to flip, but it's not even indestructible on the front side.
i love narset too! i never saw spelltwine and i don't like spells that steal opponenents' cards...buuut if the spell is in the graveyard there's an high chance that player already played with their own card
Thank you for fun video, today was rough and having this tossed into the mix was very helpful. My card is the Faceless One from Baulders Gate... they are just unbelievably flavorful but never works out.
My pet combo for blue that is a slow play: flood of tears followed by time spiral. It's broken if I get it off, but the odds of me doing it in any level of competitive commander is hard
I run melek in the 99 of my Kalamax, the Stormsire and while he's not the most efficient copy effect he puts in work when the whole deck is about copying spells
Loot away Enter the Infinite, cast Spelltwine, ???, Win? I know it costs 6 but still. Paying 6 for Enter the Infinite is way better than paying 8UUUU for it.
Your experience with Melek parallels mine with Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. My first commander I built myself, but playing her in the command zone just isn't viable in my pod :( Being 7 mana in boros is just not happening. Even if she does resolve, you'd be lucky to get more than 1 turn with her, so your whole deck has to revolve around winning the turn she resolves. Which is just... sad. It's basically just a really bad combo deck. I just wana beat people up with the badass angel lady!
Serra avatar 4www */* equal to my life when goes graveyard shuffle into library. Loge the original urzas saga art. Looks like a ronin with a long katana on a plateau.
Am new here so the vtuber loee going on is very funny to hear about Braids's frightful return has one of my favourite artworks and I also love sagas, but what amounts to a slow divination can be tough to run. However I have finally found a home in my sheoldred deck to help get those cards into my opponents graveyard
@@LoonyLucyRM the one that becomes a saga The build uses a bunch of cheap creatures that on etb makes each opponent discard, so you can then sacrifice them to braids's for even more discarding and then returns that creature for a total of 3 discards, filling their graveyard for sheoldread. The deck also has a bunch of edicts, so isn't the most firendly deck but I love the idea of outgrinding all 3 opponents with sheoldread and removal that actually is card neutral overall. Sorry about the paragraph on my silly evil build
My pet card is illharg the raze boar. I think it's actually good in the right deck, But when I try to play It in my decks it never works out and its a bummer.
normally not into vtubers, but sounds like my tans bestie and it's about that dead game I used to love before Universes Beyond ruined it... so yeah, have a like! aaaaand an unfinity card... give me back my like, cretin! 😂 (nah keep it, it's triggering as hell to see people go off theme when you care about the game, but it's effectively a joke. it's ok)
I love it when people say they're not normally into vtubers but like what I do, makes me feel like I'm doing a good job! And hey, stay tuned, maybe I'll talk about a card game that isn't dead to you! :D
