not crazy to someone who plays the competitive version of dead by daylight where the average match length is 5 minutes of course all the gens are done almost by the time you can even kill one person vs efficient survs, most of the killers are weak, 3 gens go in 90 seconds (then 2 more in another 100-120 or so), the maps are generally loaded with powerful tiles and survivors take a year and a half to die on hook unless they rq or get farmed + almost all hook contesting is gone
So many comments saying "i dont see the difference between games" or "L take" and its night and day, first game you have to juggle all the gens as in the time it takes to chase, down, and hook ONE person may not seem like a lot, but its enough to do THREE gens against players that actually know how to play properly, but with the defence perks, namely pain res, youre hitting gens across the map, then a 2nd one if youre running pop when you go patrolling, the time you get in return is HUGE! As a killer in these high MMR lobbies seconds make the difference and they really add up over a game
This is why I'm stopping Playing this game, there's just no time to play if you don't bring the meta. It's so frustrating, every single fast chase it's a gen gone and the only thing that you can do is tunnel.
i swapped to identity v like a year ago, much more honest game to play + significantly more competitive/skillful (while you can generally expect 3 'gens' to go on first chase, they kept the equivalent of hook grabs, 'killers' are actually allowed to use their powers to camp and if they mess up the save can win just off that as someone only takes 60 sec to die on 'hook')

The devs have stated that Killer is stronger at low level and at high level Survivors are stronger. They used much more nuanced language to avoid admitting it outright, but yeah, Killer definitely needs gen defense at high level.
Gen defense perks are basically mandatory at high mmr, which is kinda sad because it would be nice to try unique builds that don’t use gen defense and win.
Tbh it’s needed and used at all ranks I started over on another account so me and my bf could both be at low mmr so I could teach him how to play the killers are still purple level perks with 2 gen slow downs and 2 other ones that either flow with the killer or anti chase perks sadly then next game we get a killer with one yellow perk and we win in 5-8 minutes or less
not mandatory if you using blight or nurse, but weak killers like legion doctor etc yes i can easily kill good survivors with blight with only corrupt intervention i would say the 4 strongest killers doenst need gen defence perks to win
@@boinggerss1560 Not necessarily true all the time. I just started back up after being off since May and all my games I have killer cool down perks like STBFL and brutal. At my MMR range I am still getting 2k's minimum. I know I am not at a total potato level since 1 out of every say 5 or 6 games I will get a total bulldozing. Still though majority are fine. I do play for hooks though and if people are on death hook during end game I let them go. It is how I keep this shitty system in check so my games are at least somewhat enjoyable.
Gen speed are actually fine. Survivors just should not be able to heal more than 2 times because right now they keep hiding and healing. After not able to do with that then it's gonna be riskier to do a lot of the plays they always do
honestly you can win without meta perks it just requires you to play in a very unfun way. But even then it all still depends on the survivors making mistakes and not having second chance perks
whats nuts to me is i went against a team with no gen speed perks and i was trying the 12 hooks and be nice...even with getting someone out at 3 gens (2 left) they still finished all the gens and it came down to me making 2 great plays at the end to win. gens go way too fast and i get it...they are boring to do. anytime your just holding a button for minutes is boring. which is why they nerfed sloppy...unfortunately.
devil's advocate, theres a chance the person talking about gen perks in the 2nd game meant "how op gen speed perks are" and not how op gen defense perks are. when you read the comment you said gen perks.

This is an L take, I said it while he was live he played hit and run the first match way more than his second match and delayed his first down for so long the matches weren’t that different he played them completely different
I see no difference in either games. He detached on unsafe chases and committed where necessary while still putting pressure on the map with doc stuns. You're definitely making a bad interpretation of these two games.
He hit and run so much because in the time it takes to chase, down, and hook one survivor 3 gens can pop and without perks to buy time you're so limited to how long you can chase one person, so you're forced into a chaotic position that high level players will absolutely take advantage of, he plays differently because he has more time and flexibility due to gen defense perks that degress gens automatically from across the map from just hooking someone, the sheer amount of time it buys you is mandatory when the survivors know what they're doing, know they're playing the stronger role, and aren't as lost as most normal ones usually are

@@zelraths he wasted more time running across the map to injure a survivor after having one already injured letting that survivor take over whatever gen they wanted and delayed his first hook for minimum an extra 30 - 45 second if he would have downed the first survivor he would force only 2 survivors to be on gens and if he played it well enough he could force 1 survivor to be on gens pressure the other off hook and make one of the other two have to save it’s just map management and match control was his second game easier because of gen regression yea sure but was his first game played optimally not really I just don’t get ur you have so much time to chase someone when he wasted twice that time probably leaving chase starting a new one and then still taking more time to get 2 hits out of a new survivor compared to 1 hit on an already injured survivor what actually happened was he heard a gen let go of chase shocked the gen doer kicked the gen lost distance on the second survivor he chased and extended the chase time but that’s really all I gotta say I’m not tryinna argue just blaming a build and only the build is meh
@@johnpatino5340 you're saying he should have committed to chases when everyone is literally telling you that those chases were very time wasteful. Those survivors were in very good positions at extremely safe loops. Even an injured survivor can loop for 2 gens when in the right position. Give a survivor exhaust perks and they can get half of a gens time in shift W. If you're still going to argue the same point without considering these parameters then you're just clueless.
U compare 2 different builds, against 4 different players on different map... Comparison should be against same survs on same map... Then u could compare... Also, playing 4 specific gen def perks, just cuz u want to win, not to have fun, is also meh... I never play meta perks, thats reason why i am bot wining that much, as Surv i am not even usin any exhaust perk, just playing what i want, not what i have to
The way you speak regarding the situation shows that you play at a lower-than-average rank because the higher your SBMM, the more you're going to run into competitive players who don't care about playing the game causally to have fun. Doesn't matter, if SBMM is as strict as it is, every player he will go against is within that same bracket especially with his high win and low loss record. If he goes against the same players, they will learn how he plays still making it difficult to get an accurate result. Not to mention if the team is a full SWF and being watched by viewers. After all, the only way to create this scenario is through a custom match. As killer, gen perks feel like a requirement is the issue here. Also, I don't understand the whole "doing something to have fun" narrative when that's completely subjective. What you find fun isn't fun for others. Winning, in general, regardless of the game, is fun for the majority, especially if they're competitive player playing a competitive game. The person playing as killer shouldn't have to play a specific way and sacrifice their fun to make the game more fun for survivors.

From my pov what i see for 20 years of gaming Is, 90% of players Are meta slaves, So they are playing what Is needed to win, not to fill The joy/happiness from playing... In this game, as killer, u Need to sweat 8/10 matches, i remember when i had like 300 Hours in this game, to was super different, felt like there arent any good players... Now when i start new season se Killer, i am facing 3-5k Hours premade survs And can't do shit, cuz i am not that good on this game (tryharding different games), So i just pick my own combo od perks And mostly ending up with 1 kill... Not talking about salty premades that Are almost every match, point of Fun in this game felt really low, cuz Everybody trying be the best, leaving 1/10 games as win for po players like me, i am fine with that, Its okey, not giving shit about it that much Aš before, more like newer players wont stay long

Tired of delusional people acting like the game isn’t completely survivor sided at top mmr. It’s just a fact that survivor have all the tools to make killers completely obsolete, it’s just dependent on if they know how to use them. Solo survivors who don’t are another story. At that point it can feel like the killer is pretty oppressive
You are horrible at the game, just admit it and maybe you'll start to improve rather than saying tunneling is camping is viable and "strong". Just rush gens and killers get 1 MAYBE 2 kills. You survivor mains will rush gens (your objective), but once the killer rushes his objective it's bad? okay...(FYI, tunneling can be strong but the killer is forced into that situation with the current meta)
