Great video brother. Leans more to your perspective on city living and in relation to the guys living on 600....... you couldn't be further from the truth. Just like you, I'm still working age. From 2 businesses in my own country and a property rental business in spain I have just over 400k/month and the farm here is bringing in another 200k. We own our house and car here. I would actually be hard pressed to spend more than $800/month. We have a 3 bedroom house in the province and when I say the province, its in a first class municipality. I renovated it myself. It would put most expat rentals to shame. Its a far cry from living under a rock and using another as a pillow. From what it was when we bought it to what it is today with my own bare hands doing 95% of it..... I am proud of it. We eat mostly food produced on our own farm or nearby. A monthly grocery bill of under 5k. People come here in the hopes of changing their lives and yet cannot let go of their old lives. Yes, you can live reasonably comfortably here on around 600. You should try it sometime. You might surprise yourself. Now. If a guy is fresh off the boat then 600 is not going to cut it but as time goes on he will learn how to live here. Would I recommend coming here with just 600 monthly? Certainly not!
In preparation of my move in 18 months I've rented a 38sqm apartment in Tucson, sold my car and live quite comfortably at $745(rent + water + internet) + $110( electricity, it's hot here) + $200 (food) + $0 (transportation, public transportation is free here and I use an e-scooter locally). If I can meet my basic costs here at $1100/month I don't see any problem with sticking to a $1500 budget there, including healthcare coverage.
i have lived in cebu city for 7 years, visiting 25 years, Here are my costs, newer studio condo in IT park is $344, electricty with aricon on 24hrs is around $63 dollars, water and sewer around $6 dollars, phone with smart around $15 dollars, but i have Tmobile in the usa, tmobile works in the PI, but i have a phone for the PI and usa for backup, grab use as taxi around $30 a month, food is around $500 which includes cooking and eating out, i do not drink or pay for girls. If i have a serious gf, i give her allowance around $300 for cooking, cleaning, and her personal needs,,,,,thats it,,,,If anybody has questions about cebu city i am an expert
problem is - if your working in the philippines for a filipino company likely your paided filipino rates of pay which are very low compared to the west.
Hello, just wondering if you would consider talking about homes for condo's for sale in Davao? One issue I'm having is finding the right type of home or maybe even a condo in Davao, all I seem to find are much more expensive units on youtube. I really think it would be an interesting topic for you to talk about on your channel.
Hell yeah 😂 just look at me I'm on social security I get $900 I live in a two-bedroom two-bath trailer on a acre of land and my property taxes 1900 a year and I own the trailer an land and I don't have 250k in the bank
Yes it is very possible…more than enough. You can budget the $50k (or even less if you budget at $1.5k/month for your monthly expenses) for the two years ‘til you can collect at 62 so then you will still have at least $200k for your emergency fund later on. I did it at 57 when I came here in Jan. 2022. I just turned 60 and planned to collect SS at 62. I’m renting (15kphp/mo.) a 4bdroom (70sq.m) townhouse in a gated (24hr security) subdivision in Lancaster City, Cavite which is an hour drive from Manila, Makati, BGC. With proper budgeting and expenditures it is very doable. $2k budget per month here is very comfortable living. I recently opened a couple of high yield CD’s at 4.75 rate and parked some of my money there. So basically I’m living off of the interest from that CD. That’s just a happenstance as CD rates went up the past year and wasn’t part of my plan as I was prepared with what I got even before the CD rates went up. If you haven’t been here I suggest you come and visit to see for yourself if you can adjust to living here. Stay for 2-3 months, as couple weeks stay will not be enough to tell if the way of life here is for you, so you can get a feel and be acclimated of how it is here as it is not for everybody….to each his own as the saying goes 😊. Also if you haven’t, subscribed to “The Philippine Info.Channel” here in youtube. The guy’s name that runs the vlog is Steve. He has an expat group that meets once a month. He’s a nice guy..been here in Phil for 6 yrs now. You’ll get a lot of info from him. He’s a stand up guy. One of the honest vloggers you’ll encounter/meet as he doesn’t depend on youtube income at all to sustain his living and way of life here. He does NOT accept money or donations, no patreon on his channel whatsoever. He lives in Trece Martirez City, Cavite about 25 miles (an hour or so drive) south of Manila.
